Any advice on helping a clumsy walker?

She will out grow that some kids are just a little bit clumsy I am 73 an still clumsy do not worry to much she will be fine you are doing an amazing job with her ,

Swim lessons. Makes coordination fun

It sounds like her mother just inhibited her progress through the toddler stage where they learn to walk and balance… and fall… A LOT. I agree with other people saying to rule out medical causes given the history there. You want to make sure she doesn’t have vision, inner ear, or other problems that could be affecting her.

You mentioned head trauma, have her checked, may have something going on with her little brain that causes her unsteadiness. Might invest in a small helmet to prevent further injury.

Pediatrician, Neurologist, physical therapist, possibly have her eyes checked, go from there they will have the best recommendations. God bless you for stepping up for her. Best of luck.

Just like with anything else practice makes perfect. She has to find her balance and learn how to not run full blast into something. It will take time as it does any other child!!!

If shes got head trauma you need to take her to doctor and get referred to a neuro specialist to rule out any sort of brain damage that could be messing with her mobility

What goes the pediatrician say? I think whoever suggested PT/OT had an excellent idea! This would help so much!

Check her eyes, and does she have any head injuries from the past? Sounds like a more underlying issue than just being in a car seat too much.

My daughter used to fall over and it turned out it was due to constant inner ear infections that had caused several burst ear drums , this resulted in me fighting to have grommets fitted and instantly this resolved the issue , does she pronunce letters different in speach ? Look out for this my daughter would here things like cookie as tootie x

Maybe a helmet would help until she becomes more steady when walking.

Have you had her checked out by a Dr? Maybe have her eyes checked too. She may just need some physical therapy to get better balance.

Take her to the damn pediatrician!!!?

Sounds like something else is going on .

Pediatrician and physical therapy asap…she may even need an MRI if she’s been in the hospital for head injuries…that’s no joke and needs to be addressed now while there is time to intervene. Tell the pediatrician about her history.

Doctor and have her ears checked (the inner ear is for balance) she may something simple and can go back home because it was not her mother not taking care of her, but a doctor missing signs of something else going on.

Besides having an MRI because of all the head injuries. Get her one of those toys that you can ride or push from behind. This will give her something to hold on to and help with her balance.

If nothing is medically wrong, My suggestion is that you give her someone to hold onto when she walks. Similar to a walking type toy. (It won’t allow me to ost a picture) I know she’s 3 but she might be able to use this for her to find her balance. Just a guess.
