my teens as well I think electronics plays a role in forgetting cause they don’t want to take time out from phone Tv game etc to do what they are so pose to
I did. I still do. If it wasn’t something that was gonna give me anxiety then I forgot about it/ about doing it.

I’m nearly 30 and I’m like this. Is she neurodivergent by any chance? Not pretending to know your situation at all, just thinking of my own 
I can be deathly thirsty but I’ll still “just finish this thing” before I get a drink or eat and often by then I’ve forgotten

At 17 I was a nurse, God help my patients and me if ’ I forgot '.
As a working mum my children never ’ forgot ’ my daughter at 14 could run our home. Guess it depends on expectations. My son’s were the same could cook and wash and iron.
I understand the forgetting to eat when I’m doing something I forget to eat my mom lives 3 hours away from me and has to call to remind me to eat at times

My kid’s like this and it’s actually what made me get her tested for ADHD. Which she has. Wouldn’t hurt to look into.

Not very long ago when I got separated my daughter did this always with everything you name it…before she was 17 to irritate me because she knew she could get away with it as she was so spoiled by her dad. I would tell her I am telling her dad and she would laugh at me. i had tried to parent this child for years as her father wanted mo part in it and yes he lived in the house. He told me he didn’t want any part of this with a kid or they would hate him? Givening out rulesd grounding was my job and I hated being the bad guy. My son moved out at age 17 almost 18 with good friend to escape him and his liking only his sister. I never blamed him all at all. So when I got sick with my back getting worse and my lazy daughter never wanting to help I could barely walk and he knew this would happen as he came to the specialist appointments. He told me one day he wanted a divorce and I never wanted to leave, I could handle my daughter, I wanted him out, but he made me move out, long story short don’t let your daughter get away with lying as she doesn’t have a bad memory she is just playing you as teenagers do. You have to get a bit more strict on her or she will be running your household. Mine did and yours is showing the signs …Just my opinion you don’t have to take it, just ignore it…my life is much better now with a better person as 9 years went by and he still never went through with a divorce, but I hope your daughter straightens out…
“I forgot” is an excuse. We all used it to get out of things as kids, that’s all she’s doing.

I still forget everything until today. I have a calendar 
on my 
now. Before that, my mother used to leave a list and post it notes of what needed to be done 
. And a calendar in the fridge or wall, it helps with anything that is important. For example school exams, appointments, etc…

If mine had been like that, i would have forgotten how to cook, keeping there clothes clean, buying there snacks,getting money at the bank that they wanted ,where i last saw there cell phone, there are lots of things you can forget to do for them.

This was me as a teen and come to find out at 24, I have been going my life undiagnosed ADHD. Now that I have the correct meds, I do so much better. Maybe see if she has that?

My experience of teens lol. My 2 and their friends were exactly the same …no problems just normal teenage behaviour .
Forget how to cook, clean, etc anything you do for them lmao. My brother did this to our dad and that’s how he got my brother to straighten up and told him if he didn’t start “remembering” he could move in with his mom who allowed him to act that way. My brothers absolute favorite was my dad telling him he “forgot to pay the WiFi bill” and only he and I knew the password:joy:
he swore he was dying without Netflix. Definitely got it together though after a little bit.

It’s not just teens lol. My 11 year old does this all the time but yet can sit on her phone or in front of the TV all day

My 12 year old does this daily, but I also have a shit memory so I try not to give him too much flack for it 
adhd can cause memory problems, so can anxiety and depression, might be worth an evaluation.
100% sure if you take the cell phone they won’t forget you have it. I have a final done. If you can’t do what I’ve asked you to do within the time frames you’ve been given I take your phone until it’s completed. That will be done today as I’ve asked for the room to be cleaned and the packing to be completed.

Yeah its bc you’re asking her to do things or grab things she isn’t interested in doing so such as responsibilities. I’d take her valuables and see how quick she’ll remember. Those are excused teens are too spoiled now a days and parents are too lenient! Have her shop for own self see how quick she’ll remember too what she needs when she has to get it on her own.
The best way to find out what’s really going on is having a conversation with her about forgetting things. Asking her what she thinks is making her forget, if she has any other problems going on with her, etc. Sometimes it really isn’t on purpose.

Don’t wash her clothes, when I was 15 and 16 my privileges was based in my chores I washed my own clothes did all chores on Fridays right after school so I could go and do what I wanted with in means of my parents but food wise hide it lol I have 6 kids so I get that

Sounds like depression mixed with ADHD .
This is my 14yr old son who has ADHD. It’s a struggle constantly. It might be worth bringing this up to her Dr. She could have ADHD. It presents very differently in females and often gets overlooked bc of this.

I hope and pray she is ok - my 7yo does that when he doesn’t want to talk but my 15yo has an amazing memory but, he is above average (Also has TS)
