Anyone else have this happen?

I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with my second. My last appointment when I was receiving my ultrasound they noticed the baby was falling further behind in percentile. The baby went from 26th percentile to the 19th. Which didn’t bother me to much since anything above the 10th percentile is ok. Well the baby’s head went from the 8th to the 4th percentile. Has anyone else had something similar and what was the outcomes? Did baby eventually catch up?

My daughter’s head was in the 3rd percentile but by 6 months old her head caught up with the rest of her. Now she’s in 80th percentile for everything.

My daughter was in the 5th percentile my entire pregnancy. She was healthy when born. Now she’s in the 95th percentile

My daughter was down in her growth. They ended up taking her at 36weeks because she would grow more outside than in. She ended up weighing 5lbs 10oz. Height was 18in. Overall now she is in the 66%, her weight is only the 9% and height is only the 1%

My Dr said my 2nd was was too big. They thought he would be well over 8lbs. They stipped the membranes after two weeks over due and he came out my smallest baby of all 3 at 7lbs. Those are NOT accurate. Don’t let them scare you.

These ultrasounds are guesstimates on measurements. They said my baby wasn’t growing the way they liked. They said she was 5lbs 2oz then two weeks later she was 5lbs 9oz . They induced me because the baby would gain weight being out. She was 6lbs 10oz. I wouldn’t stress it.

All 3 of mine were considered growth restricted, my girls were both born under 5lbs n my boy under 6lbs by the time they were all 10 they weigh more than momma , they catch up

My dr tried to tell me my youngest son,was over 10lbs and they wanted to do a c section.I kept telling them absolutely not.Their reason was,I gained 50lbs:woozy_face::woozy_face:Thankfully,I stuck to saying no bc he was only 6lbs4oz.

When I went for my ultrasound they thought my baby would be born 6 lbs and he was born a 9lbs-er

At 32 weeks they said my babygirl was measuring behind. They said her weight was low and that we’d need to keep an eye on it until birth. I ended up going into labor early and having her at 36 weeks…I was worried to death bcuz it was considered early and they had seemed concerned about her being underweight…but she come early at 6 lbs and 4 oz! Perfectly healthy with no NICU time. Good luck momma

Are these level two ultrasounds? Have they said anything about iugr? Have they referred you to MFM? IUGR can be serious.

My son was pretty behind I’m not sure the exact percentile but they found out at my 34 weeks ultrasound that they had missed the fact that he had a singular umbilical artery ( the usually diagnose this at the 20 week ultrasound with my doctor) and it was causing growth restrictions.

I had this happen with my daughter she measured normal at first but continued to go down eventually my ob decided it was best to give me steroids to boost the babies lungs in case I had to deliver sooner. Which I did I gave birth at 34 weeks, we kept her in there as long as possible but she started going way down in percentile and my ob told me she had a better chance growing better outside than inside me. She came out at 2lbs but there were more underlying reasons we didn’t know until she was born now she’s almost 5 and healthy as any other child.

My daughter dropped way down. They induced and she was 5lbs at 39 weeks. Unfortunately she kept dropping and there would have been more problems had I not decided to go through with induction. That was my experience.

Do NOT listen when someone says don’t worry. You need to be aware and make sure your baby is going to be ok. Listen to your gut❤️

Dr said my second babies head was very low in percentile. I was so upset the last like 10 weeks of my pregnancy. She came out totally fine and perfect. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

My midwife said my daughter would be 6lbs at most… she was 8lbs 5.3oz. Those things are so dang inaccurate.

My daughters head measurements were very small for her gestational age, she was measuring 2 weeks behind so we went to an MFM and it ended up being because she was breached and her head was pushed up into my organs but once she was born, she was completely fine and perfectly healthy.

Talk to your doctor. Every baby is different

With my first they told me he was failure to thrive and around 5lbs so they induced me. He came out 7lbs 4oz. And my daughter measured super big and due to my labor stuff with my son they decided to induce me with her and she was my smallest at 6lbs 4oz, they can only really guess. They can’t measure them that well as hard as they try.

They thought my 2nd was going to be over 10 pounds, which didn’t sound unreasonable at the time because my dad and uncle were both over 11 pounds at birth. I was induced a week early and #2 weighed in a 7lb11oz. Talk about relief.

They said the same with my daughter told me to prepare for her to be in the nicu she would be so small etc I shit you not she cane out 1oz off 8lb they don’t always get the weight right other factors like were your placenta lies etc can do this there only estimates

This was my post. I probably should’ve added that I haven’t gained any weight this pregnancy. I’ve lost 30lbs since I’ve found out I was pregnant! I’ve had severe gallbladder problems and been very sick overall. My regular ob and high risk ob don’t seem concerned about the lack of weight gain, no matter how many time I’ve mentioned it! I honestly feel that could be a reason why the baby is measuring smaller.

I was told the morning of my scheduled csection (not even 30 mins before surgery)that my daughter didnt even weigh 6 pounds and was breach (all by ultrasound). I knew exactly how my daughter was and told the dr. He marked my stomach according to how I told him my daughter was and even compared to ultrasound. My daughter was sideways across my stomach and weighed 8.5 pounds. Ultrasound are only guesses, not 100% correct all the time!

My oldest daughter was always very low on the percentile. She was born healthy but tiny at 5lbs and 16in long

Are they sending you to a mfm? My daughter was iugr baby she was my smallest baby 6 pounds but it was more to the end I had issues with progesterone n placenta.

Be careful with this. It could mean your baby isn’t growing as fast as they should and could end up being IUGR. My son stopped growing at 35 wks but the tech kept saying oh the measurements are wrong. No they were right. He had stopped growing but wasn’t born till 40+6. He literally was starving for 5 wks because of an incompetent tech.

At 19 weeks they said my daughter was in the 8th percentile and had some blood flow restriction issues as well so ive had ultrasounds like once a week and she went up to the 10th percentile but still has some blood flow issues but shes staying stable. They keep threatening me with early delivery

And a lot of the time them measurements be off just like your due date they really don’t know they just estimate stuff and use machines and even sometimes they be off don’t nobody know but god

They told me all the same, even threw out the possibility of downs, when he came out, he was 7lbs and no abnormalities. At 10mos, he is right in the idle of the growth chart. The farther along you get in pregnancy, the accuracy of US measurements goes down. Keep faith and enjoy growing your precious little one.

This happened to me as well they started noticing my daughter was not developing at the same pace and percentile as others and told me I had IUGR (inter uterine growth restriction) and did an emergency c section at 29 weeks. She weighed just under 2 pds. She spent 2 months in the NICU but 3 years later she is happy and healthy. And growing like a weed.

I live in Seattle. They have some of the most advanced ultrasound machines and they were off for both of my kids. I got induced close to a month early for the first one and they estimated her at close to 7lbs. She was 5lbs 6.8oz…. My second one they thought was 7.5lbs and he came out 8lbs 12oz…. You really never know. If you’re concerned ask them to give you information to someone to investigate further

Ugh I hate doctors they don’t know everything

My daughter stopped growing. So they induced me a week later. That seems like a very steep decline. Get a second opinion from a doctor.

I would all my doctor and ask that he call me back about this.

They told me my son was behind and was only going to be 5 pounds. They told me he stopped growing too. I was a mess well sure enough they were wrong. He was 2 weeks early and was 7’5 and 20 inches long. I feel sometimes they are way off!

My sons stomach was measuring like super small to the point my mom was freaking out and making me freak out. He literally came out perfect. It’s not always exact!

Maybe get a 2nd opinion from another ob or sonogram tech. All throughout my pregnancy when they did my sonogram that were telling me that my son was gonna be born with just one foot, and then one arm, and it was always something horrible, like they were trying to get me to abort him. My son was born healthy, though when I delivered he did have umbilical cord wrapped around his neck twice and was blue so they had to revive him. Other than that issue he was an 8lb healthy baby boy!

Subsequent ultrasounds should be done using the same ultrasound machine and tech for continuity. Machines are different one to another as is the technicians technique.

I wouldn’t trust any of these. My doctor also told me I was eating too much and my baby was average size … 10lbs 10 oz and she apologized. How does one miss that much baby?!

My first pregnancy I measured slightly behind and then around 30-34 weeks My belly hadn’t grown anymore and I wasn’t gaining weight did ultrasound to make sure no intrauterine growth restriction told me baby was gonna be small …I know ultrasounds can be lbish off …she was born healthy on her due date at 7lbs 5oz  I would definitely take doctors advice make sure there isn’t no growth restriction

They were way off with both of my kids. I don’t trust those.

My daughter was in the less than 3rd percentile. Diagnosed with IUGR. I was induced at 38 weeks. They pegged her at 4lbs and she came out 6lbs 6 oz.

I was told my second was going to be a 10lb baby, she was 6.12 …. They aren’t always right, keep checking and try not to worry x

It could be anything from the way the babies actually turned to the machine malfunctioning don’t let yourself stress out and there’s no point in this whole get another doctors opinion it’s a baby in your belly and you’ll give birth to it and love it no matter what

i gained 2 pounds with 3rd son, they said he was going to be small, well when he was born he weighted 10lbs and 15oz, and was 23inches long, doctors said he did not know where he came from, all the time he was hiding under ribs and that I was always sick with him, that was 40 years ago! lol Nancy Johnson

They induced me 3 weeks early because of this. We had to go to a specialist once a week because my daughter was behind in her head and weight. They took her at 3 weeks and she grew so much better outside of me.

My second, I was told was too small and I was sent for an emergency scan only to find out she was actually going to be too big and had to be induced a week early, she was 7lbs 13oz

My baby fell to less than second percentile by birth. I had to deliver him early, they wanted to take him around 37 weeks. I went in at 38, he had outgrown my placenta. He was born 5lb. 6oz. He’s on the short side but healthy at almost a year old. He was diagnosed iugr around 34 weeks, he fell off the curve, around tenth percentile and each week got less. I delivered via C-section.

I have a similar problem … at 28 weeks nothing was noticed, at 34 week scan my baby has tiny thigh bones and hasn’t even reached the scale yet  I’m now 36 weeks and his legs still haven’t caught up … something about how the baby has to protect its major organs therefore the legs tale the compromise :woman_shrugging: sounds like to me they got your scan all messed up :woozy_face:

I had almost the exact same thing only a few months ago… baby was born happy and healthy passed all her scores she’s just on the smaller side… we were allowed to go home 24hrs after birth!

Same thing happened to me, and come to find out the tech measured wrong, and baby was perfectly fine. They had us terrified saying her head was way too small

My son’s got a peanut head. He was in the 4th (after birth) percentile until they stopped measuring (I’m not sure what age that was) he still has a small noggin. I went full term with him, 7lb 13oz, he’s 10 now and 99th percentile for height, 56th weight. Huge feet, just got a little dome. It happens. Looking at him, it doesn’t look out if proportion.

This happened to me when I was pregnant with my twins. One started falling way behind growth wise. Head size was specifically mentioned as a concern. I went to a specialist twice a week for all kinds of testing and measurements. She turned out just fine. She is a beautiful petite brilliant little 8 year old now. She’s actually not tiny compared to her classmates either, but has continued to be smaller than her twin brother.

I don’t know percentage but they were saying my baby’s head was small and now 32 weeks and they said it’s normal size and overall baby is in 15 percentile and they said basically means in on track to have a 6 pound baby

My youngest went from 25th percentile at 30 wks to 6th percent at 34 weeks and he was measuring a week behind. They took him at 37 weeks and he weighed 4lbs 13 oz. my dr didn’t feel comfortable letting him stay in any longer then she had to.

Up your protein intake!!

My babe wasnt even on the charts, IUGR, delivered at 38+6 she was 6lbs even. 5lbs 12oz when we left the hospital. Shes 15 months now and 26lbs

Same here . Was told my son would be 4lbs so I was induced. He was 6lbs !!! I cried so hard . LISTEN TO YOUR HEART !!! I knew my baby was okay . We had got premie clothes for no reason

My first did this too she was looking really small they told me I had to go to a specialist every week I was induced at 39 weeks because I was at risk for stillbirth and they told me she was going to be like 4 pounds but she came out 6 pounds she was on the smaller side but she was fine. She stopped growing at 26 weeks but by 32 weeks she started growing more. The specialist and my ob argued with what well to induce me for about 3 weeks then decided to go with 39 weeks I’ve she started growing. She’s now 4 years old and she’s a chunky girl. The ultrasound isn’t always 100% but it’s definitely something to watch baby might get a growth spurt

If the doctors are not worried you shouldn’t be. You will have a healthy and happy baby.

Talk to your physician about possible blood clotting disorders, they can be serious health risk that running families that no one’s aware of. It can cause small blood clots and the placenta that deprived oxygen to your child and stunt growth sometimes tremendously. A simple blood thinner can help that not happen.

They couldve measured wrong to begin with. It could totally be their mistake.
