I am not looking for opinions. I don’t care what your stance is on the topic. My son suffers from ADD. His behavior is also uncontrollable. No one likes to take him out or watch him because of it. He is on Ritalin now, but I’m looking for more of a natural way as I hate these drugs for kids (although it really does help). Does anyone give their kids CBD gummies? What kind? Which is the best? He’s almost 9, about 100 pounds.
We give our 6 year olds CBD oil for their ADD/ADHD. Dr’s wouldn’t help us b/c they’re too young to be diagnosed. But after struggling with behavior at home and focus at school/lessons, we took matters into our own hands. we see a massive improvement without the side effects they’d get from Rx. we can def tell when they’ve missed a day, tho!
Look at Charlotte’s web
I asked about it this week and our dr said not much is known and about the long term effects on their developing brains so that was enough for me to make my decision. My daughter is 5 and has autism and severe adhd
Ive heard good things about cbd drops for children we have some at our local shop
Try it the worst that can happen is is dosnt work, work with doseage and what works best for him.
Herb stores and health food shores have natural products too. Valerian is one.
I give my daughter cbd oil for anxiety and it 1000% works. She’s been taking it for almost 3 years
Have they tried any other medication, other than Ritalin? That stuff can cause more behaviors over a time and can be more damaging to the body. I’m not saying, no to CBD but I would do some serious research on other medications.
I don’t give them to my child. But I take them for anxiety. It depends, go to a dispensary explain his behavior and what you are hoping to accomplish and they will give you a recommendation.
They make cbd gummies & cbd lollipops that you could try
Cbd from Lazarus naturals. Has changed our life with autism and anxiety.
My stepson 16 have adhd depression anxiety, he on meds that help but he smoke weed and he said it help alot w meds… we me and dad dont really like it but since his mother do it we knew it matter time b4 she smoke w him get him hook on to it so we just say not at our house
Just be careful where you get them from. We use the drops and buy them from a local licensed vendor. I also take them for anxiety and depression. Doctors would much rather push pills than to advocate for healthy, natural remedies.
My 18 year old has had adhd since he was 5. Doctors and everyone wanted me to medicate. Cbd wasn’t as accessible then as it is now. So we sought the help of a pediatric chiropractor. He went for years and years and it was awesome. So much better than meds ( in my opinion. I’m not looking to fight!) he now takes cbd and couldn’t ask for better results. I do know people that swear by cbd for kids with add and even autism for meltdowns. The one thing you need to look for is to make sure that that CBD gummy is not full spectrum and it does not have THC in it. They do make CBD gummy‘s that are strictly CBD you just have to really look.
Good luck mama I salute you. In my opinion it was not an easy journey but it was definitely the best one for me and my family.
I have known people to consult their kiddos dr before. And. There are more than one type of cbd. The ones I know is from Hemp… another is from cannabis. They act different for different people. I personally HAVE tried cbd Gummies for my autistic and add son. Communication with my ex husband and his wife. We were all in agreement to try them. They were spendy because I got the GOOD ONES I noticed differences after a few days… I would have definitely kept up on it. If I could afford it
I take cbd and also give it to my child who suffers from anxiety . In my opinion it works wonders . Once it gets into their blood stream you’ll notice a huge difference. I would never give my kids pharmaceuticals for ADD because of all the side effects then you have to take others meds for those side effects . I love cbd and it has no side effects at all . Cbd isn’t going to hurt your child at all .
My son has autism and adhd and he’s been on cbd for 3 months. We give him the oil capsules 50mg per day
Yes, tinctures work faster but gummies are a good option too. Just be aware that it may require more frequent dosing than prescription meds.
My 9 year old with anxiety and adhd does very well with cbd drops or gummies, she notices a difference and likes the way her brain slows down, her volume and tone are more respectful and she isnt triggered as much. Invest in a good quality too. We use about 4 to 6 drops of 1000mg mixed with juice. I also use to control my own pain from cervical neuropathy
I think everything works differently for each person. My son was on ritilin and is now on elvanse (lisdexamfetamine) 70mg and cbb works for him
I tried CBD gummies for my daughter’s ADHD but they only worked for an hour or so and I didn’t feel comfortable giving her more than one a day.
Fish Oil 100%. Im ADD as all get out. Noticed a HUGE difference within 2 days.
I found some on amazon that I used for my 14 yr old for anxiety
It didn’t work for my daughter’s adhd but methylphenidate is working great for her.
If medical marijuana is in your state you can go there and they should b able to help you with which one is right for him.
I have some awesome cbd drops that work fabulous
Inbox me for details
If your going to do cbd go to a medical professional and use medical cbd
I take them for my anxiety and depression along side of my anxiety meds.
Have you tried Concerta? Friend of mine seems to have some success it it.
Yup! I give both of my girls CBD gummies. They are USDA certified organic and so safe! You need to really do your research on the product you choose! 80% of the CBD products out there are unsafe and crap! My oldest takes them for overall wellness and focus. And my youngest takes them for her anxiety issues and potential ADHD. We are in the process of getting that diagnosis. They are a GAME CHANGER!
Lazarus 100%
Best CBD company hands down. Charlottes Web is also an amazing company, a little more expensive than Lazarus though.
as a person who grew up taking ritalin and hated the side effects and and the ADD my child has ADHD and the last thing i wanted to do was drug route. I started out with every herbal thing a pharmacist recommended to try and help her and for a short time it would work. Eventually the effects wore off we even went the CBD route too i take it a lot as an alternative to my VA PTSD medication it worked for a period. but eventually it just wasn’t enough for her. my sister who is a pharmacist suggested focalin which is a prescribed medication idk if i spelled that right but it has been wonders. Obviously medication, CBD etc will work or not work for different kids or effect them differently so i don’t think it would hurt to try but definitely talk to a good pharmacist
I do! We all take it when we need it. my hyperactive kid takes 1 gummy a day. My best friend told me about them. Her son has autism.
Caffeine is known to be very helpful in the morning (yes for kids).
Following bc I’m curious which brands are best for tinctures or gummies. I don’t want to waste my money on something that doesn’t work.
I have heard from friends that they work for their kiddos and they give em to their pets too. Better than all the toxic chemicals they want u to use
My 11 yr old daughter has ADHD the Cbd didn’t work for her . Concerta worked but also seemed to make her more zoned out and a shell of herself so she only takes for school
Try getting him dna tested for the right medication
I give them to my 13 year old daughter for anxiety. I didn’t want to put her on medication with all the side effects. It does help and she takes it as needed as opposed to having to take something everyday. She takes Charlottes Web 10mg.
We tried a little I guess and it helped but wasn’t enough. Lately we’ve been adding magnesium at night and that seems to be better in conjunction with his RX meds. https://www.additudemag.com/slideshows/adhd-supplements-fish-oil-zinc-iron/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1110863015000555
My 5yo has been taking them for about a year now for ADHD, anxiety, and migraines
Have you tried altering his diet? I only ask, because I know of at least 2 people who have cut out foods that contain red dye #40, and there have been significant changes in their children’s behavior. It’s extremely difficult, as red dye #40 is in so many things. Especially snacks targeted for children.
Imma just be straight up. Fuck CBD …. Just smoke some weed i know he’s 9 but common you can even give him oil if you don’t want to teach him smoking yet but if it’s only thing that’ll calm him down my brother had it we had no other thing to turn to because he was just wild idk how to put it but wild he controlled him self we couldn’t tell him anything or to do anything . Lol but once we kinda like let him try weed . He was fine all he wanted to do was watch tv play video games . Shit he even wanted to start playing sports becuase his mind was focused on one task that’s what weed does for us all . It helps us why do you think it’s illegal . Why do you think we can smoke cigs and drink alcohol becuase they kill us . Weed is illegal (in many other states like mine Nebraska) becuase it’s a natural medicine idk it’s our government tho
Hey , just a quick rephrase…
He doesn’t suffer from “it”……“it” is who he is hun, it’s his neurology.
He struggles maybe yes, but not with ADD, but because he’s being forced to grow up in a mad neurotypical world where we’re forced to sit all day in class and our brains are naturally wired to seek other things. Other people won’t have him because of it,? Well maybe they don’t understand his needs?
Does he have adequate accommodations at school etc? Is he anxious, overwhelmed etc? Does he have sensory issues? Is he over stimulated? Does he sleep well? Is he a sensory seeker? At that age it’s hard to put big feelings into words and there is always a reason for the action. Does he get tummy aches ? Has he tried another medication?? Id probably not try cbd unless I spoke to his psychiatrist first, defo do your research on licensed sellers and obtain drs recommendations not off a fb feed!
Happy to chat to you via dm but it will be more about his behaviour/sensory needs and why people won’t look after him.
I have adhd. So do my kids x
Has he had a sleep study? 50% of children are thought to have disrupted sleep. Children need 4 x more deep sleep than adults. A sleep study may be the first step. I’d also consider checking with a myofunctional therapist to rule out signs of a tongue tie or causes mouth breathing. These can all be interconnected with the disordered sleep. Disordered sleep has many of the symptoms of ADD. If you treat the airway may notice these ADD symptoms lessen or disappear. Children cannot focus when they cannot sleep. It puts their bodies in fight or flight.
My dr asked me to talk to my ex…wont happen…about my 11yr old getting medical marijuana card for his adhd, and getting him gunmies. Im a smoker, but i have my card also…i dont feel comfortable with my 11yr old doing cbd yet. There is still thc in it…his pills make him level, and no problem…he just cant sleep at night. They wanted him to do it for bed…i give him melatonin instead right now.
We don’t use the cbd gummies, but my 10 yr old around the same size is on focalin xr. It’s a lesser version of Ritalin and then we use melatonin at night. He only takes it on weekdays and now after a few months it’s seemed to have calmed him down on weekends without anything…not all the way, but noticeably
You may need to speak to a specialist about what is the correct mg amount to give him.
I have family and friends that give it to their kids and pets and it has worked wonders on them. I don’t have suggestion for kind or dose but definitely worth looking into
following cause my son is adhd and also on ritalin…
Join this group, they can help.
If you want to go that route take him to a pediatric medical marijuana doctor and they will be able to prescribe the correct dosing for the child and offer the best solution of CBD. The gummy’s OTC aren’t worth it because who knows what’s really in them.
Find things to do with him also
I give my 1yr old cbd gummies for seizure prevention. These are the brand I use
We definitely do give our daughter Cbd oil , works wonders for her ADHD … saw an improvement with in 2 days !!
There’s also an interesting study out…
Therapists worked with ADD/ADHD, (children with aggression and sleep issues aa well) and did the following:
Parents kept a food journal for 30days. They also weote the behaviors of the child. The 2nd 30days, parenta cut out all gluten and certain dyes. They wrote foods eaten and behaviors. (Including times they ate and behaviors.) Month 3, back to normal and note changes.
They found that in 99% of cases, ALL the childrene experienced no symptoms when foods were non gluten and mostly dye free. When foods was back to “normal”, symptoms came back almost immediately.
So, just a suggestion, look into diet as well. It’s crazy how the brain breaks down wheat gluten and the dyes and processed junk in foods. It may be something to do besides just the gummies.
Good luck momma!!
And, good on you for doing what’s best for your family.
Yes.
First cut our red dye as mentioned (trust me)
I’m not sure the doseage but using CBD is also common with odd and adhd kids. 100% doable and worth it.
I give my daughter CBD for her TBI and it works miracles
I did 10 mg CBD gummies for my child with ADHD and it was very successful!
Also I learned that there are two different types of medication for ADHD, there are your stimulants which are concerta, Vyvanse etc or there are NSRA I believe that’s what they are called, which are the non stimulant form
Use the oil. You can control the dosage better than the gummies. The CBD helps my son who has ADHD. I will say consult your pediatrician before trying just to insure there is no side effects with the current meds. My son never received meds so idk about giving both at one time. Best of luck
Caffeine does the opposite to someone with add I have adhd it keeps me in check no caffeine I go miles a minute
My son has severe adhd and autism spectrum disorder Level 2. Hes on concerta with a 10mg afternoon booster dose. Then intuniv xr at night. It’s made a world of difference for him and has not put him in a fog or changed his incredible personality (which was my biggest fear medicating him) he was on par with his class for the first time last year and even aced math tests for the first time. Hes 11 and 70 lbs. Which is crazy. He was stuck at 40 lbs for years getting taller but still as string bean as always. Hes come leaps and bounds. It’s possible. Get a good pediatrician who is invested in your child’s future and bring all your questions to him or her. You’ve got this and so does your kid
I have a friend who took her son, 9yrs old, off his meds and does the gummies and she said it was the best decision for him. Just don’t stop his meds cold turkey.
Also try another Med like the daytrana patch
Tinctures, gummies. And cut out red dyes
I wish they had this when my kid was young. I would have used the gummies
Yes!!! And try delta 8 gummies… They have the delta 8 THC (which is way less potent then the delta 9 THC that gets you high) and it helps the CBD bind to the brain better.
Okay dude really? Your thoughts on medicine for adhd is one of the reasons people like myself suffer for prolonged periods of time without the help we need. If the Ritalin is helping him then listen to his doctor and make sure he keeps receiving the help he needs and deserves. If it’s not fully helping like it should then discuss alternatives with his doctor don’t run to the internet for opinions on medicating your kids .
Ritalin is the WORST. I wish they had cbd gummies when I was a kid!!! That Ritalin crap made me a complete zombie. It was awful and I hated it and nobody would listen to me!!!
We do. For the same reason we have a local lady that specializes in this topic for my 45lb daughter it’s 2 2mg gummies with melatonin before bed and 2 regular cbd gummies before school teacher has noticed major improvements
You can also try the CBD oil in some Orange Juice. I find most of the gummies I’ve tried have a after taste. Behind you and I hope you both find some relief
If you do decide to go the other route… ask about Focalin. I have 3 autistic in my household and they all have ADHD. The focalin worked wonders for my stepson. He was on a very low dose and it was night and day. There were no side effects and he went from all F’s to A’s. Very smart kid… just needed something to slow the brain down enough to focus.
Try the JustCBD gummies they sell them online and in local cbd shops the amount per gummy is different based on the candy but they have lots of options !!
As an adult with severe ADHD .I can tell you what your child suffers with .I have suffered my whole life.I have a severe case. Do what you need to do to get you child relief. Dont worry bout what others think. Long as you know there is no interface with other meds or his side affects won’t be intolerable go for it.A mom know there child best .
Unless it’s medically prescribed… it’s illegal to give them to your kids! Just a heads up! Talk to your child’s doctor about prescribing it and the correct dosage for YOUR child! Don’t do anything without Doctor’s permission!
https://cbdbrothers.com
There is also a fb page herbal alternatives that has unlimited info on cbd products and will answer any questions u have hope this helps
In my opinion you should be discussing this with your family doctor or pediatrician, not a bunch of strangers with degrees in Facebook…
Check out Dr Martin clinic on facebook
Yes i habe and he prefers thrm
Have you considered changing his medication?
Yes, (2) 2mg in the morning. (2) 2 mg nightly. A world of difference! Can be purchased online or any dispo
CBD Plus+ is the brand , green bottle. You can Google it it’s only 1mg per spray so it’s low dosage to start and if more is needed then go up and few sprays but that’s the easiest way to start it I think. Over doing CBD just makes them sleepy. I try to go natural and herbal at first with my family. But if meds are needed needed then definitely. My mom didn’t put me on Ritalin and Adderall because it can be used and abuse once older and friends take advantage of it, and it’s a few ingredients off from Meth I guess which I looked up and they are highly similar. I can understand why not many people wanna try it first, but in some cases it works out for them and their childs brain. But I try to encourage trying other options first. CBD CBDA do wonders.
I can’t relate to what you’re going through, but it’s worth a try I also heard cutting of foods that have red dye in them helps too. Good luck to you and your child
Low doses… I gave mine coffee… it has the opposite effect on kids with a.d.d and a d.h.d
My boyfriend and I let our 2 older kids have them it helps with our sons adhd
As someone who suffered from adhd during childhood into adulthood- Give him the gummies…fuck what anyone else says that’s negative. They don’t walk in our shoes.if it helps that’s all that matters .
I wouldn’t be opposed to micro doses of magic mushrooms in children after seeing the benefits of it in myself and reading up on John’s Hopkins studies on it.
So sad lies a propagate have kept us suffering longer than necessary
Get a hemp derived CBD it’s legal in most places
We tried for my son who has ADHD n it didn’t do anything
Try kava. Kava is used all over the world as adhd medication and I have been using it personally for about 8 years, and use it with my 10 y/o so . You can PM me if you’d like me to send you info.
We tried cbd, it didn’t do anything. Every child is different though. Talk to the person treating your child. If you are seeing a medical doctor I’d recommend switching to a psychiatrist.
When my son was 2 his daycare told me he was high strung and hyper and that I should get him evaluated. As he was so little I didn’t feel comfortable with that and in my eyes he was a typical energetic curious lil boy. I was in college at the time for human services and had a 15pg research paper assigned for psychology. So I did natural ways to help w adhd/add) I found that the combination of routine and structure with a natural diet truly helped. I tried a few things with my son and it was a night and day change. I replaced juices with flavored waters, eliminated or lessened other added dyes and sugars from his diet as well. Dont get me wrong, he still enjoys candies and cakes and isn’t denied goodies and treats. But they are in moderation and tweeking the other items allows for him to have it in other areas. He is 9yrs old now and is still doing great. He gets all As in school and great reports from teachers regarding behavior. Dietary intervention is hard at first but once you get the hang of it its easy and comes natural when shopping
I found this…it may help to read
Maybe ask his pediatrician. I know from experience as a kid Ritalin was awful it made me like a zombie. And I hardly ate. The switched me to Adderall which was a bit better. Idk about he CBD though so I can’t give opinion on it.
And this one may help as well
Here in Michigan where weed has been legalized… After my child’s father and I educated ourselves on proper doses and various CBD items. I sent my 7yo son to school with half a gummy to take at lunch time (because he was having trouble staying focused and not disrupting his class). He spilled the beans to kids at lunch and the school had an officer come to my home. After further review of the situation and the officer speaking to the DA office (yes, they were also debating on whether or not to contact CPS!) they agreed that it was not a criminal offense because CBD itself has not been classed and I had given him gummies with 0% THC in them.
They recommended that I have his doctor give me a note to file with the school and have him sent to the office to take it during hours. I decided not to go that route and to just give him a full gummy (worm) before he gets on the bus instead of breaking it up in two doses.
My son is 5 almost 6 and I am pretty sure he has adhd. He is starting school in a couple weeks and I am really nervous about how he will behave there. That is for posting this question because it is also helping me out.
