Are heart palpitations normal during pregnancy?

Has anyone else had heart palpitations that stick around every day with a rapid heart rate in Third Trimester my midwife said it could be normal because your body has to work faster but was sending me to a heart doctor incase to check it out and I’m also anemia this pregnancy.

Yep! I had rapid HR & palpitations with both pregnancies. My resting HR while pregnant was 90-100. I saw a cardiologist and everything looked fine!

Yes! Mine is like that too! Started shortly before third trimester!

Mine was too!! My heart rate would be 160-170 just from standing and my resting was normally around 100. Felt like I couldn’t breathe and it made it impossible to do the simplest things. Mine started in the third trimester too and I saw a cardiologist as well. It went back to my normal heart rate after delivery.

Yes, mine started earlier in the pregnancy though. And got worse as I got further along but turns out I was anemic and although they got way better when I started an iron supplement I still had them occasionally.

Have them check your thyroid

Yes. Struggled with this my entire pregnancy. I was finally put on lose dose labatelol. It resolved itself after birth.

Yes mine was due to severe potassium deficiency and magnesium deficiency

I did with my 3rd they said I had gestational graves disease ? A thyroid issue that went away after I had my daughter

I did with both my pregnancies and I still have it now!

I did with my daughter, and was short of breath.
Got blood work and I was anemic

I had them. During my pregnancy it went along with preeclampsia.

Anemia can cause both palpitations and tachycardia.

Yes and even after baby … just hormones

Yes I’m my third trimester also had hot flashes from hell all was good

Hi this is my post also was wondering has anyone experienced with the rapid heart rate and palpitations shortness of breath I dont sleep anymore because of them I wake up every hour. But like I stated feels like my heart pounds out of my chest everyday. And just dont feel the desire to do anything. And I also do have thryoid issues and being animea but midwife just check my thryoid levels they was normal. But with me being animea my blood panels has been low.

My suddenly happened! My husband came home! Last night he told me he loved me. We still have work to do but all thanks to dr Durojiaye he is so faithful. I am in deed greatful please content

Yes I did and ended up having high blood pressure. Had to go on medication for both pregnancy’s.

I have them all day everyday !!! Was going to bring it up next doctors appointment I also have high blood pressure too!

No definitely not normal

No. I had that and I found out that it’s a form of heart failure called pericardiomyopathy. You need to tell you dr to run a bmp panel & have an echo.

I had it and they couldn’t find anything wrong with my heart after multiple tests. It went away after birth.

I have that too - was told it’s because the blood volume increases and heart works harder.

I have it and the doctor has shrugged it off.

Anxiety causes mine

Yes and was worse with baby number 5 than any of my others. It IS super normal, but if it lasts too long or gets too bad consult your Dr. Its from an increase in blood for baby. It does eventually go away

I had it with my first prenancy. Was so worried. Saw a cardiologist who ran a battery of tests. Everything came back fine. Went away after pregnancy. Did not experience it with my second.

I had it for the entire second half of my pregnancy. My doctor freaked at first and put me on an EKG. It turned out fine. My heart rate was as high as 120, it went away once baby was born. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Can also be if ur not drinking enough water… dehydration causes the heart to work harder as well

My OBGYN said it is normal for patients to have a heart palpitation… I developed a heart palpitation while pregnant and I am also anemic as well (was never anemic before pregnancy)

I did. I took a thyroid medication, but it continued until birth.

No, I’ve never experienced that at all- you could be having runs of SVT or be in Afib if it continues. If it’s occasionally, probably no big deal but if you feel like you have them more than you don’t, get it checked out. I have a friend who had to be chemically cardioverted while pregnant/stuck in Afib.

Please get checked for preeclampsia. Is your blood pressure high??

I had a heart murmur my whole pregnancy, after I had him, they did tests after and I have no murmur now.

They told me to cut back on caffeine and made me do the non-stress tests. Had the palpitations with my third kid.

I had with my 3rd child I just thought it was because he was so big being 10lbs 13.2oz but it has continued for the last 8 years since having him it is very rare when I do have one but always good to get it checked out

I had them with my first pregnancy. I wore a heart monitor for 72 hours and it showed I had a lot of them. Went away after birth and everything was fine but I’d definitely see a cardiologist to be sure!

I did! I still have issues today with my heart rate trying to go high. They did EKG and couldn’t find anything wrong. Hopefully it just from your heart is working harder. To pump more blood. Mention it to your dr.

Seems like everything is normal during pregnancy lol

Could be wrong but I thought you can get palpitations because v anaemia ???

that happened to me, as well as high blood pressure. I had preeclampsia. try your best to relax & not to get overwhelmed. you got this mama!

Certain types of anemia will cause it. For instance, G6PD.

I had it in my third trimester it would happen at random times but my heart was healthy and normal.

My midwife said always start with drinking some more water. As dehydration can make it worse

I’ve got anaemia this time around an i get it but not everyday, can be painful some days

I had heart palpitations in my 1st and 2nd trimester every once in awhile they eventually went away

I had palpations with both pregnancies and my doctors said it was normal. I had a resting heart rate of 120 and it would get up to 160 quite a bit.

I have had it throughout my entire pregnancy. I asked and also read up on it. It’s normal due to your body working harder with the extra blood flow etc.

Same problem. Tachycardia when standing 120-140’s (mime started in the 2nd trimester tho) felt like straight up garbage when I was on my feet for a little while with narrow pulse pressures (difference between the top and bottom number on your blood pressure). I saw cardiology, wore a halter monitor for 48 hours (that sucked ass and was super itchy) all for cardiology to say everything was normal :woman_shrugging:t2:

I got them all the time in pregnancies, still do randomly. I’m still upright and taking air so far.

Best advice is see your doctor

I have had it since 20 weeks. I think unless I feel really terrible with it the doc isn’t too concerned

I had them in my 2nd pregnancy and get them periodically. I was diagnosed with MVP

Im 26 weeks and get them randomly. Dr said its normal from time to time. Feels like my heart skips a beat.

Try cutting out the caffeine . . .

i’m pregnant for my second time and am having a weird feeling in my chest here and there also… they don’t hurt but it’s definitely my heart

Heart palpitations are pretty standard in pregnancy get checked just the same. Mighty prayers
