I have a 4 month old boy. He’s been breastfed since birth and still going strong! For the first 6 weeks he would take breast and bottle with zero problems but one day woke up and decided he wanted nothing to do with a bottle. So fast forward 2 1/2 months later and still refuses to take one I’ve switched bottles, nipples, sippy cup, and tried waiting it out in hopes he’d get hungry enough to take one with zero luck. I work part time and have to leave every few hours because of this and my days of leaving him with his daddy or grandparents so I can be baby free for a few hours has gone out the window. Has anyone else experienced this with breastfed babies? Does anyone have any tips or tricks? I’m at my wits end!!
It happens. Keep trying different nipple brands. Don’t be in the room. My 2 month old is the same way. He took a bottle a couple times and I gotta go through and try different nipples so I can have a date night here and there. I found it was easier when I was nowhere near him as he knows my voice and accompanies that with being the person with the food.
If it’s formula in the bottles I’d understand the disconnect or confusion of the baby. But if it’s breast milk keep trying. Try small gestures with daddy feeding baby at night start with the bottle and end with the boob. Or switch it up boob then bottle.
Try pumping, give her breastmilk in the bottle, and be persistent, it took me one week to let her accept the bottle again
Give your husband the bottle and have him feed him. Leave the room
A lot of babies do this, but at 4 months it’s perfectly fine to go 3-4 hours between feedings and then feed on demand while you’re with him
My son uses this bottle and doesn’t fuss with it hubby feeds him with it while I pump right beside
Try a premie nipple. Worked for my granddaughter, and she was 9lb14oz. at birth she would not take breast or bottle. She was drinking out of a Tylenol dosing cup! Tried the premie nipple out of desperation. Worked like a charm. Best of luck to you.
