Can birth control cause irregular periods or should I take a pregnancy test?

I had unprotected sex around April 13th and tested negative for the P Test at OB when I got Depo on April 21st, but I haven’t gotten my period yet this month. Is it possible Depo threw my cycle off, or should I buy a test?

Birth control can cause irregular periods.

Yes. And coming off depo can cause heavy withdrawal bleeding. Went on depo after I had my son who is now 10 and I had my period for 4 months straight and then I got off of the depo and I bled so heavy it was going down my legs I thought I was having a miscarriage but the emergency room told me that it was just my body withdrawing from the depot

It may have been too early to test! But it also may have threw off your period.

The depo could have stopped ur period. I haven’t had a period since I started depo

I didn’t have a period for over a year when I started depo. Worst mistake of my life. I wish I would have been more educated at 17 and I would not have take it.

Yes, birth control can cause irregular periods. And yes, if you’re concerned, take a pregnancy test.

Take another pregnancy test

The first time I was on Depo I didn’t get any periods, the second time I had light periods and spotting that lasted for 2 to 3 weeks.

I say take the test. 88¢ at Walmart. Mental relief.

When I was on Depo, the whole reason I got it was because it knocks your cycles down to just 4 a year. Your periods aren’t going to be regular on depo.

I have been on depo since I was 15. Went off to have my daughter. That was when I was 33 and I 40 now. I never had side effects on it. Its stop my period. You can spot on it till your 2nd dose. Then goes away

I’ve been on depo 4 years and I’ve never had a period since being on it
