I am 37 weeks pregnant and cannot handle being pregnant anymore…my body hurts so bad…they say baby is pretty big already and I wam wanting to ask my doctor for a membrane sweep to get thingsd started…will they do one already?

Even with my baby being 11pounds at birth my ob refused. Just need to let baby come naturally, it’s what’s best

I will be having a schedule csection at 37 week 2 weeks from now Dr says baby lungs are developed by then and it’s safe to have her so it don’t hurt to ask your Dr
I was induced at 37 weeks two weeks ago due to baby being small and not growing enough and it ended up being absolutely horrendous from start to finish. One of the most traumatic things I’ve ever been through from the minute they induced me to his birth and the days that followed… Even though they were confident enough to go ahead with the induction my baby ended up in NICU due to underdeveloped lungs and wet lungs. He couldn’t breath on his own and couldn’t handle being fed so was on fluids for the first 5 days of his life the stress of it was unbelievable… I often wonder if he had those 3 more weeks would he have been a bit more capable and developed. Just hang in there it’s inly 3 more weeks, I know it’s so uncomfortable and frustrating but it’s better when baby comes on their own terms

I doubt it. Unless baby or momma is in trouble.

My daughter went 37 weeks with twins, you will be fine til baby comes. Rest more. & Honestly if you think pregnancy is hard, just wait for baby to be here

I was allowed to get a sweep at 39 weeks and then again on my due date. Made no difference my baby was still 9 days over

If I were you I’d skip anything if possible that induces labor, my sweep was awful and didn’t do a thing, it’s a couple more weeks you already made it this far. The longer the better my son was almost 10 pounds. All 3 were late first one was 41 weeks had to induce labor prayed induction was never done again it was awful. Second 41 weeks and third 2 days late. You will be okay

Baby’s lungs aren’t fully developed until 39 weeks. So while you’re technically ‘full term’ and could deliver under medical necessity, a membrane sweep and forced labor wouldn’t be wise. Just because you’re uncomfortable doesn’t mean it’s worth risking anything on the baby.

I doubt they would. Ive never had one but i know they wont allow a scheduled c section until 39 weeks. So i assume something like that would be around the same

I mean you can ask but baby will come when they are ready… and in my experience they only induce you if you have come way over due, or in my case they would have induced me at 37 weeks as my water had broken at 33 but he came at 35 on his own….
Pine apple, walking, sex or if you have a workout ball you can bounce on are all ways you could induce labour…. Pineapple worked for my 35 weeker
I would wait as long as you can… My water broke at 31 1/2 weeks with my youngest daughter…her lungs where fine working great and she was ready to go home in 3 days…but she has one eye that didnt fully develope. She will have glasses for life
First of all, prayers for you momma, second of all, think about how safe that baby is in your even with your discomfort. Keep growing him, and work through how uncomfortable it is knowing your doing right by him. Don’t push it unless medically necessary, yes it hurts and your uncomfortable, but your stronger than you feel, I promise.
Doubtful unless medically needed. They usually don’t do any membrane sweeps/ voluntary inductions until 39 weeks. Don’t risk your child’s health bc you are uncomfortable. You only have a few more weeks to go, in sure you can make it until then
All 4 of my babies were born at 38 weeks I went Into labor naturally with all of them my water broke with 2 at the start of labor naturally no sweeps nothing it was just time all my babies were born healthy…start doing all the stuff that naturally will induce labor lots of walking sex certain foods raspberry pineapple certain suppliments black cohosh and primrose… if ur miserable already dont try castor oil it sucks a lot!!! I love my babies and wouldnt change anything for the world but I hhhhhaaatttttteeeeeed being prego every part of it was miserable for my body …I feel ur pain momma it’s almost over ur reward is coming
A membrane sweep will not start labor, only baby being ready will start labor.
You risk getting an infection.
And it’s too early, full term is 39 even 40 weeks

I’m In Michigan, (I’m sure each states laws are different) I have a 3 month old, I asked them to sweep my membranes at 38 weeks only because she was sitting on a nerve that would cause me to fall sometimes while walking! But they said legally in Michigan unless deemed medically necessary, they cannot intervene with labor until 39 weeks. Good luck momma!! Last couple of weeks are miserable and I understand, it will all be worth it soon! 
I have had many done with four babies and none of them worked. Also it’s painful as hell.

I had 4 done my last pregnancy.
My dr did it for me because of my blood pressure, it was before 37 weeks. It didnt do anything at all and it hurt so bad. I was induced a week later.
It sounds like you haven’t done much research on birth. I think the word you are looking for is induction not membrane sweep. Why don’t you schedule an induction a week or 2 out. Speak to your doctor because personally 37 weeks is a tad bit soon. Also think about the bacteria you can introduced if getting a membrane sweep.

Yes, I got one done around that time because baby was lying in an awkward position and causing a trapped nerve, I also had sciatica, the pain was awful!! I didn’t sleep hardly any for the last trimester of my pregnancy. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me (I had several). I had to be induced at 41 weeks.

Probably not. If the only reason you want it done is bc of discomfort. Babies need time. The last few weeks is when their lungs mature. They might been a steroid shot to mature the lungs and/or need a nicu stay. Relieve the pressure as much as you can, do some walking to ease some pain. But most doctors won’t try and " get things started " until 39 weeks.

My daughter was scheduled C-section due to my doctor going to be out of the country for Christmas. I was 11 days from my due date and they still were worried for her lung function I had to have a test done to see if she would be okay and she was over 9lbs. Just rest, lay when you can, put your feet up, stay cool and hydrated. I know it’s hard but it’s what we are meant to do.
Instead of asking Facebook ask ur doctor this sounds like its ur first time

That’s normal pregnancy in month 9 is the least fun. Talk your provider about what you want you have patient rites and can have input with in reason
My dr did first sweep at 38 weeks, predicted a 10 pound baby, did a total of 3 sweeps, didn’t get induced until 42 weeks, baby was born at barely 7 pounds and still had to spend time in nicu for transitional breathing. Keep the baby baking.

I’m in Texas and the practice I go to quite doing them altogether. I had one done at 38 weeks with my first pregnancy in 2017, which it hurt like hell and didn’t do anything and I got induced a week later. When I asked my new Obgyn when I got pregnant in 2019 he said they won’t do em their anymore. In Texas you can get induced at 39 weeks if ur just sick of being pregnant.
Depends on the doc. Technically mine wasn’t supposed to before 39 weeks but I had it done with two diff kids at 38 weeks I was DONE being prego
I carried my daughter for 44 &1/2 weeks!! And she was still only 6lbs 12oz it took her over 1 minute before she took her first breath! She was blue at birth, Dr said she wouldn’t see her first birthday. Her birth took 2 days and it was sooooo hard! But she was worth it! (Today she’s 31 with 2 kids of her own)
My point is, let the child develop, I know pregnancy can be alot, but this child never asked to be here so it’s our job to give them the best start possible.
Let the Dr decide if the baby is ready
