Can you get a tattoo while breastfeeding?

Hey  just wondering… has anyone ever gotten a tattoo while breastfeeding? I have an appt booked and I just want to make sure the ink won’t affect my baby. He’s 6 weeks old. Anyone with experience?

The o my risk is greater infection. Your fine to get one, just make sure you take extra good care of it.

I asked my last OB when i was pregnant with my son
He said as long as it doesnt get infected, its fine

I was told I could’ve got ink while I was pregnant…I didn’t want to take any chances and had it done while nursing. Just take care of the new ink to avoid infection mama!!!

Your fine just make sure to properly care for it.
Loads of people don’t actually understand how tattoo and the ink works and intersects with your body. :person_facepalming: Leads to lots of ignorant opinions and information

The only risk is if you were to get an infection. Go to a clean and reputable shop

I did when my baby was five months. Didnt Didn’t do anything to milk/supply/or latching

I got one while pumping and nothin bad happened

Just pump and store in case of an infection.

Any reputable tattoo shop will not tattoo you if they know you are breastfeeding. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Its perfectly fine. Only risk like anything else is infection.

The ink doesn’t transfer to your breastmilk, the only thing you have to worry about is infection, and as long as you care for it properly you should be good there too.

I wouldn’t risk it personally…you have your whole life to get tattooed but your baby won’t need breast milk forever. I’d just wait

When I looked into it the guy said he wouldn’t do it. It’s a risk of infection, tattoo artist wouldn’t do it
