Could the pain I am having be from birth?

I had an emergency C-section a little over four months ago, everything with the surgery was routine! And my healing process couldn’t have been better! I haven’t hurt at all, other than small pains near my scar, until about a week ago. From the middle of my back at the way down to the top of my butt hurts so bad I can barely pick up the car seat, get out of bed, or sometimes even walk without being in pain. Could this be from my epidural or C-section? Has anyone else experienced pain months after giving birth?

I had random pains like that for roughly a year. The nerves healing is a process.

Never have experience that but you might just want to get it checked out.

Could be from the epidural.

My epidural caused back pain. I constantly struggle with it. She is now 5 It is a common problem

Could be epidural. I had pains in my back for months after mine. Eventually went away though.

Could be the nerves…maybe you lifted something or moved wrong or it could be from the epidural. I would say if it continues I would make an app just to get it checked out.

The spinal they give you can cause issues for many years.

11 nearly 12 years later and I still suffer back pain from the eilpidural but that’s because they put it in the wrong place first

My youngest is 5. I STILL have back pain from my epidurals. :frowning: some days it is unbearable

I won’t say no but could you possibly have hurt your back lifting something wrong?

You should definitely get checked out. It could be from the epidural but it could also be completely unrelated

Yes. The epidural does not never go away- the pain gets more tense as u get older.:cry:

It’s from the epidural, I still have the pain in the same area of my back and it’s been 4 years. Hope yours starts to ease with time!

Likely the epidural. I’ve had 3 epidurals and have had this pain for YEARS. :frowning: I’ve come to terms with it being from the epidural. Just as it was getting tolerable I had another and am back to the back pain again and had my baby 8 months ago. It’s never gone away but definitely worse in the first few years of having them.

Could be from the spinal, I developed two bulging discs after having my son from the spinal because they were having such a hard time getting it in correctly, she literally pushed my discs into my nerves

Sounds like epidural pain to me… I’ve had 4 some days I can’t get out of bed

Have it checked better safe than sorry.

I had this after my first and it was the worst. I went to the chiropractor and he told me it was from being pregnant and how much your body changes and expands. But mine was more located near my tailbone.

Call your Dr or who ever is taking the call this w/end. Or call the nurse line…

I had back pain about 4 months after my c section. I went to a chiropractor and it helped a ton!

It most likely is a muscle strain. Your abdominal muscles are still not healed and their weakness causes you to use your back. It should heal in a few weeks. Try Motrin and heat and cold packs :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Did you have an actual epidural or a spinal block? Same process but different location in the back. Epidurals are harder to place which is why people get pain like that after. If you had an actual epidural though it shouldn’t hurt all of a sudden after months. I would go talk to your GYN or primary care doctor.

It’s probably from the spinal block, they don’t give epidurals for a c section. I would call and get checked out just in case because it could be something that would go away but it may be something else entirely that needs immediate attention.

Epidural for sure. I have the same issue. I’ve been in physical therapy and it helps but after 2-3 days it’s right back and who can afford to go to physical therapy with a $75 per visit copay twice a week.

My daughter is seven, and my back hurts every day in that area. I, too, had a c-section. It’s epidural pain.

My epidural caused that exact thing that you are describing. My daughter kids are 14, 9, 7, and 4… My back is pretty much wrecked. My last child I had to get my epidural twice because the first one wore off quickly. What you are experiencing could be anything though. As I have had 4 vaginal births, I am not sure if getting a c section would cause those pains. I’d definitely go to your doctor momma  Get you a definite answer so you can have a care plan in action in order for you to start healing. My heating pad is my best friend.

The epidural - I was told it’s normal and to try a chiropractor, but have it checked in case it’s a kidney infection or something else.

Likely from epidural. Be sure to notify doctor.

Probably pinched something if it was a sudden onset of the pain. Try a chiropractic adjustment and see if they helps at all. Generally with epidural injury you get headaches also.

Sounds to me like a pinched sciatic nerve? Could be from the epidural but it’s best to make an appointment with ur dr to find out for sure. Maybe try some stretches

I didnt have a c section but had pain like that from the epidural with my first. Got so bad I went to a paint clinic and had to go through trigger shot Injections. Got better after a year or so.

They do give epidurals for c-sections. A lot of times if it’s an emergency c-section. I had an epidural with my first & a spinal with my second. I didn’t have pain in the epidural area or caused by it until later. They tell you it fades with time.

Probably the epidural. With my last daughter almost 4 years ago they messed up my epidural and my back hasn’t been the same since!

I’ve had constant lower back pain that has only happened after the csections

go to the doctors…

My c section was over a year ago with my baby boy. It takes a year - two years for your body to properly heal. At 4 months out you are no where near being healed. so you should expect to get aches and pains every once in a while. I had pulled a muscle in my belly trying to clean the house around 5 months post partum. I went to my doctor because it hurt so bad I thought maybe I had a tare but, he said I just over worked it and I still needed to take it easy.

So I suggest a heating pad, take some Tylenol and take it easy. You most likely over worked yourself or pulled a muscle.

Like I said I am almost 13 months postpartum and I have to wear granny panties because if any pressure like lower cut u set sits on my scar to long I start having pains. It’s still healing.

But if it doesn’t go away in a couple days or pain becomes worse I would recommend seeing your OB doctor who did your c section.

What about 9 & 11yrs later. :disappointed: anyone have the pain lasting that long?

I had an epidural with my third in October, and have been in pain ever since. I had to have 3 blood patches injected in the same spot as my epidural because I was getting spinal headaches. Now I’m struggling with really bad back pain. I’ve been seeing a chiropractor but so far hasn’t improved yet.

It could be, but it could also be sciatic pain or hips being out of line. If its possible to to a chiropractor and see if that helps.
If not the speak to your doctor.

Shaking
Debilitating pain
Can hardly get up
Sounds like kidney stones

I had c section too
Dull low back pain was fixed with accupuncture

It’s not sciatic nerve that’s in buttock

Ask your doctor who delivered baby

It’s probably from the spinal block. It’ll stop doing that eventually

I had an epidural but have never experienced any pain because of it.

Your lower back or hips could be out to place. Mine pops out from time to time and the pain is awful

I had the same thing. I had to go to the chiropractor for months. Also, yoga helped me as well between chiropractic treatments.

Yes from your epidural

Could it possibly be your kidneys?? When I get a infection I hurt from mid back to butt. Its awful. Hope ya figure things out quickly.

My epidural caused back pain. I constantly struggle with it. My son is now 13 and pain and discomfort just gets worse.

That happens to me sometimes when it’s really cold and sadly it’s due to the epidural. I had my youngest almost 4 years ago and still happens occasionally.

It’s probably from the epidural. But good luck trying to get a doctor to admit that.
Try acupuncture or physical therapy. It may help eventually. Good luck!

Check for a urinary tract infection.

Could be from your epidural. I didnt have any issues with my first daughter, but with my second one my back was bothering until a month ago (daughter is 5months). I couldnt really sleep in the hospital mainly cause of that and at home it bothered me. I actually noticed a couple weeks ago that it didnt bother me anymore. I also streached a little, my hips and back. My back n hips bothered severly when i was pregnant.

I had an epidural over fourty years ago and still have pain.

Go to a chiropractor and get readjusted you body goes through alot when pregnant it may not be from the epidural it could be your sciatica

Back pain can be caused from many things. Go to your doctor for advice, best medications for pain relief & if further treatment is needed.

I’d say it’s the epidural, I’ve had an epidural with my first and spinal with my second. Also I have a fused L5, every now and again, I’ll get a sharp shooting pain in and around where the needle went. To the point where I can’t stand up straight or hunch over, so I’m ‘stuck’ for about 90 seconds :confounded:

Might need to go see someone and start exercises for tightening your core, so you can strengthen your back muscles, lower abdominal muscles

Its the epidural. I have episode where my back gets stiff and have some pain with it.

It’s probably from the epidural or even possibly your sciatic nerve being pinched or just acting up

If you are having headaches as well i agree with epidural for sure!

Happened to me too. You need to talk to your doctor

Kinda sounds like sciatic pain I get that when I’m pregnant

Sou is like sciatica, prolly from the epidural…

I get it too since c-section, go to a physio, they’ve given me exercises to strengthen my core and help improve the back pain. You can self refer or if you can get a ‘first contact’ appointment (book through your gp office) that was a lot quicker for me

Yall are making me very happy I refused epidural with my kids. I have always wondered if me not having epidural caused me to RIP so bad… tampons and sex hurt. Really effects my marriage baaaad

If you got a epidural it could be that go talk to a Dr. none of us can help you unless we are Dr’s
