Hey moms just curious if any of you didn’t have a 12 week scan when you were pregnant? I’m 12 weeks and 3 days and missed my scan due to a mistake the doctor office made. My appointment was yesterday and when I came in they told me my scan wasn’t scheduled and asked me to come in later in the week but I cant due to work. So I’m having it next week Monday morning. I’m pregnant with my 2nd.
With my 3rd pregnancy I was having trouble with my insurance so I wasn’t able to get any prenatal care until about 21 weeks. Everything was good.
I had one ultrasound at 20 weeks that was it… my sister had 1 at 18 weeks
unless your having issues with the pregnancy or are high risk, you should be just fine… I didn’t have my 12 week scan till 14 weeks because of scheduling and they said it was fine unless I had major concerns like bleeding
With mine, scans were 6-8weeks, 12week,18-20weeks, & 28-30weeks
They never even brought up anything about a 12 week scan to me, but my early ultrasound found that I was already 9.5 weeks along so idk if that has anything to do with it? I had a quick scan in the Dr office at 13 weeks cause the Doppler wasn’t detecting her heartbeat, and another at 17 weeks in the ER when I was having chest pains just to check up on her. But the next scheduled scan after my early appointment was the anatomy scan at 19 weeks.
My office typically only does 2 scans. The initial scan around 6-8 weeks for confirmation if pregnancy and Estimating the due date and then the 20 week anatomy scan.
I did get a 3rd ultra sound with my first around 11 weeks because I had had an awful nosebleed a few days before (like it bleed for almost an hour) and then the Doppler couldn’t find her heartbeat so they did a super quick ultrasound just to check on her
That scan is to check for nueral tube defects. That would indicate stuff like downs or spina bifida. As long as you get it by 14wks.
I was “late” getting in to my first scan and they were kinda “wah, wah, wah” about it but I ended up not being as far along as they thought.
I had a scan at 8 weeks, then my other was at 16-18 weeks. It was the same for all of my kids. My insurance would only cover 3 scans. Except for my last, they couldn’t find a certain artery to her heart so I had 4 scans total with her
My insurance only covers two unless medically necessary or it’s out of pocket. One vaginal to confirm pregnancy and one external for the anatomy scan.
I only ever have had two. One when I first went in to determine due date and gestational age blah blah. And then another at twenty weeks to check growth. But with my son I had a third because he was measuring behind ( was fine and actually bigger than averga at bitrth 8lbs 3oz) I’d say don’t stress it?
Unless your high risk i wouldn’t stress about it. I was high risk with my 2nd and had about 8 scans done always measuring my cervix lenth due to my 1st being 6 weeks early. Depending on insurance some only do 2 scans.
I got scans all of the time. I had a miscarriage before my last pregnancy. The nurse made sure I always had scans to feel better.
I only got them around 12-14 weeks
20-24 weeks
And the one I paid for at 30 weeks for the 4D. Pictures
All I got was one to confirm viability and then at 20 weeks.
Usually Dr does ultrasound at 8 weeks to make sure baby has a heartbeat then listens to baby heart at 12 weeks n u get the 2nd ultrasound at 20 weeks never heard of getting one at 12 weeks usually it’s just heart beat check
You don’t need one. Most places you only get one scan at the 18-20 week mark unless there are issues
When I had my children you never had scans unless they thought something was wrong so don’t worry
