Do I have to go to jury duty?

I got a summons for jury duty in Feb and requested off due to no childcare. I got another summons today but I still don’t have childcare. I also don’t get paid for it as I am part time. I was told I have to talk to the judge. Do I bring my kid to court to talk to judge? I can’t afford childcare to do jury duty. I have heard judges get mad and say it’s Contempt of court if you do? I plan to call them but wanted your opinions. I am in California, can anyone advise?

I just got out of it last year as I was still breastfeeding! Also in Cali, didn’t have to go see a judge or anything I just called courthouse

I would definitely call the courthouse and explain to them what your situation is. California is a different breed when it comes to their rules and laws of the court.

Some courts have child care. I know family courts often do.

You fill the paperwork out, send it back. If you get called into “interview” a simple, “Oh yeah, I’ve heard about this case on facebook!” and you will be dismissed.

I would call them or go bak there and talk to them. Always get the name of the person who you talk to if they say you don’t have to go and their title. You don’t wont to be pick up because they did do that when I served and people were absent
