Do you have to snip a tongue tie?

It depends on how severe it is.

They wanted to do my baby in the 70’s and I refused too.She never had a speech problem and was very smart!! BABIES CAN GROW OUT OF IT🙏

If you wait and opt to do it later, they will have to sedate your babe.

Can cause speech and feeding problems. The smaller they are the easier the heal.

It really depends how bad it is… Sometimes it affects eating and talking. My son was and they did it the next day. The dr said he didn’t even cry.

I’m tounge tied but can talk fine. I think it depends how bad it is

Both my babies are tongue tied no speech problems with the eldest he’s 10 and I’m still nursing my 8 month old

It can effect speech, but is uncommon. 2 of my kids are tongue tied. My daughter was born with it right to the tip, they offered to cut it and I said no. Shes almost 8 now and it has caused her no issues and has moved back enough that it doesn’t cause any discomfort

You can see a specialist. The doc said the same thing when my son was born but it was minor. It made breastfeeding kind of painful, but my baby’s wasn’t very bad. It usually only effects speech if it’s severe and even then it’s uncommon…ask your pediatrician for a referral to an ENT doc if you’re worried.

Drooling lots of drooling

Get it done right away. My daughter got hers done at 2 weeks, cried for about 10 seconds. My son got it done as soon as he was born, cried about 10 seconds also. It’s truly not painful as a baby because the nerve endings aren’t developed there yet.

My friends son who is 5 had to have his done due to speech/breathing problems. You could tell right away how much it helped him. He was in quite a bit of pain the day of, and sore the day after.

I had to wait until I was 11 to get my tongue snipped and I have speech impediments I don’t think will ever go away.

My son is . his pediatrician said it was mild and wanted to wait aince it didnt effect his feeding . he is now 4 and speech isnt an issue. I think it definitely depends on severity .

Did u let them do the foot prick test and vaccinations? :unamused::unamused::unamused: I swear y’all weird af sometimes

Depends on how bad the tongue tie is. Minor one won’t effect speech. A severe weather be can effect speech. See a specialist they will tell you all about how bad of a tongue tie your baby has.

My mother was born with a tongue tie, my granny never let the doctor snip it. It never caused a problem for her as a baby or adult. She just looks like she has a short tongue if she sticks it out at you. Personally I feel the same way you do, birth is not the time to start slicing, snipping and clipping your baby’s body. If it’s not necessary let it be.

Prayers I never knew about this thanks for information

Ur going to have so many problems with ur child should of got it done

Birth is the most humane time to do it and yes it can effect them in the future.

I wish they would have clipped my son’s.
I had to buy MAM bottles and stop breastfeeding. :disappointed: it’s a constant struggle.

If it is a bad one please get it snipped. You’ll be putting your kid in a lot more pain with having trouble feeding and talking.

My sons had his upper lip tie done. 1. It was effecting his ability breastfeeding 2. It hurt like hell when he latched.

He was 3 days old & they said he never even cried :woman_shrugging:

what exactly is tongue tied–never heard of it?
