Any sahm moms do delivery driving such as uber eats, door dash, grub hub? Do you take your kids? If so how do you do it with littles. We would just stay near home ( we live in a city) and do it if we are already out and about.Just looking go make extra cash to do activities with the kids ect.
If I need an Uber, I expect it to be a single driver. No kid passengers if they arenāt my own.
I do doordash as a side gig and I take my daughter she loves to help too lol
I had several Uber eats drivers have their kids in the back, never saw an issue with it
I personally would not. You are arriving to strangers and you just never know ļæ¼
I door dash I use to take my son but know we take my nephew but my mom comes with me
I no longer do DoorDash because of covid and my childās health. He is 12 and I was doing it and he rode with me. Iām a single parent with no help and he has had multiple surgeries and goes through a lot with his health so I had no option because I needed to make some money. It depends on the age/s and the area you are picking up and dropping off. There are several slower restaurants around me so I had him come in with me and use the bathroom. It also depends on the weather because if you turn off the car it will cause concern for people who pass by.
Iāve brought my son along with me for my side gigs like that. You arenāt technically supposed to but he isnāt hindering or helping so I donāt see the issue.
I know a lot of moms and dads who doordash or local delivery services who take their kids. As long as they arenāt bothering food (in backseat) and such no one really cares. Now there was 1 Karen ass who tried to get a mom fired BC she left her toddler in car while walking to her front door to deliver food š¤¦š¼āā
You may want to check insurance wise!
I know you arenāt allowed to with certain companies, so make sure you check the rules first.
It depends on their age. If you wouldānt leave them in the car to run into the grocery store or gas station to buy something then I wouldnāt bring them with you. Sometimes you have to stand around in restaurants in a line waiting to grab the persons food and if thereās a line you canāt really sit in the car with them to wait because you wonāt know when your food is ready and thereās a time limit for how long they give you to get the order and be on your way to the person house. So younger children? No. Older kids, sure.
ask a few of these drivers whoās had their cars stolen and their kids in it if itās a good idea. You canāt see that car from the back of those buildings you deliver to. Anything could happen. My car caught on fire and burned down within 5 minutes, if my kids had been in there theyād have died, canāt get into a car in flames. Rethink this
I brought my 10 year old with me a few times. Be prepared to deal with the āOOOOO THAT SMELLS SOOOO GOODā and the āWhen do we go home?? Itās been like an hourā well son I drive for 6 hours so here we go.
Also if you do UberEats youāll get pulled into farther and farther areas.
No your not suppose to.
Only if you can lock them in
Iāve had door dashers bring their children and it didnāt phase me. I just went out front and met him there. Depending on the age though I could see how it would be a problem if your delivery is a bit of a distance from where you have to leave your car.
I do it with my kiddos, we call it party dash lol. I do door dash, uber eats and grubhub. I play their favorite music, we stop for ice cream afterwards, my son is older so I run in and lock the doors. But if your kiddos are really little just accept the orders where you can go through the drive thru.
I did door dash and brought my kids. Stayed near home, but if didnāt have my kids went a little outside of my home area.
I would never even consider doing this with my child! That seems super risky. You never know what kind of people you may be delivering to, and there are plenty of horror stories out there. There would be some deliveries where you would have to leave child in the car with the car being out of view. It takes 2 seconds for your car with your child in it to be stolen or for someone to just grab your kid and go. Not worth it!!!
I have -depending on their age- my son is 3 it can be a lot of work getting him in and out of the car but itās not bad
I did, however I stopped. To many apartments. We had fun making money together
No never when I was doing it. Here in Chicago it has been bad with carjackingās
I did. Depending on the location I would pull up to the curb and granny bags or I would just take him in with me. No one really cares. At apartments and building I take him with it donāt let people see him if I could help it.
My fiance takes the kids sometimes even his nephew when our kids donāt go. I see nothing wrong with it.
My boyfriend does it for extra money and thereās times on the weekends when me and my 2 kids would go with him and itās too crazy tbh hahah my daughter is 5 and she complains sheās bored and my son is almost 2 and heās good when the car is moving but he cries as soon as we stop I only go with him now if grandma watches the kids lol
Iāve brought my two 6 year olds with meā¦they love it. If I have them I only accept deliveries from places that have drive thru pick up and then they love to deliver it. If its a meet at door I go with them but if its a house and its leave at door they go while I watch them from the car they put the food down, ring the bell or knock on the door and run back to the car and strap themselves back in their car seats.
We did. Me and my husband would take our two young kids. 4 and 2 We got a DVD player for them and some coloring books. And then one person would drive and the other one would run it and run the app. We made ALOT of money. It was nice to be together but itās not consistent. Thatās where o find the downfall
My kids loved helping me deliver the orders to the people. I took my kids to do instacart that was a mistake will never do it again and your not supposed to bring your kids when you do instacart
Some deliveryās are in hotels, apartment buildingsā¦you have to walk through hotels to find rooms or apartments. It takes time and I just wouldnāt feel right leaving my young son in the car while I go to do that. And I donāt think the app wants you knocking on doors with your child next to you delivering foodā¦ and again itās a lot of back and forth to the car seat that usually will upset younger kids after a few times of realizing theyāre going right back to their car seat and getting out āfor no reason.ā One time I was stuck walking up and down 3-4 flights of steps in a hotel trying to get to a roomā¦it wouldāve taken me forever if I had my son with me walking up and down the steps and definitely wouldnāt of been able to leave him alone in the car for that long eitherā¦
I personally wouldnt. Itās too big of a riskā¦ I live in Atlanta though, so very high crime areas around. Too many car jackings, robberies, etcā¦ I deliver for Doordash and Grubhub and Iāve felt weary delivering some places just being by myself, Iād be a nervous wreck if my kid was with me.
If you have an adult staying in the car with them or you donāt have a problem getting them down every time you get down I donāt think is a problem . We used to do it with my husband during the pandemic.
I have taken my kids, but I live in a smallish town thatās relatively safe and I carry a handgun at all timesā¦
We own a takeaway and husband takes ours on delivers with him
I used to door dash with my son. When he was a newborn till.maybe 6month. I did it on and off. Itās Lot of work with a baby. But I never did it alone, either had a friend or my husband with me because you have to get out of the car to pick up deliveries and drop offā¦ ND you canāt leave the kid in the car and it gets tiring getting them in and out over and over.
I know some ppl have to and I get it but if the kids are small, I probably wouldnāt. Only bc too many drivers are having issues with robberies. Older kids who can lock the doors and use a cell phone is a bit different.
Itās actually against policy to take your kid with you to do any of the food delivery services. You can easily be banned if someone reports you especially with ring camera video with your kid in the car or helping drop off the food not to mention they arenāt covered under the insurance coverage they provide while driving. You can also be held liable in other ways as well since the terms and conditions are broken
Make it fun for them. Perhaps develop some type of game, and involve their help. Take coloring books, tablets.
Take them if itās safe for them at all times
I do Amazon Flex delivering the Amazon Fresh grocery orders and I bring my kids.
I pack snacks and charge their devices and I bring one of my siblings or my husband to hang out with me and so someone can sit with the kids. I let whoever rides keep cash tips and I grab them something to eat on my way home. Itās a win win for everyone
Iāve taken my 9 yo daughter a free times.
I bring my 3 yr old daily itās sometimes a pain getting him in and out the. Car but I need to make money so gota do what I gotta do
I used to take my daughter with me to get her out of the house for a bit. She was 4-5 then.
I DoorDash with my 5 year old and 5 month old here and there. Itās not easy but at least they can be with me.
I heard youāre not supposed to but many do, because lack of childcare
I would do drop offs but, I wouldnāt be picking up strangers while the kids are in the car.
Iāve taken my kids, but I had my mom with me to stay in the car with them while Iām picking up and dropping off.
Iāve taken mine with me to do doordash and instacart. gotta do what u gotta doš¤·š»āāļø
I take mine with me to do doordash. Most of the people I encounter that see me with my kids love seeing my boys. I have a regular who now gives them chocolate or a sucker. Makes her day since she donāt get to see her grandkids very often.
I take my son with my when I have to, I donāt do deliveries to apartments or offices. Houses only to just pop in and out of car to drop at door.
He gets the iPad and has toys and snacks to keep him entertained. We will stop off at parks in between if itās nice to run off energy. Sucks but Iām a single mom, and honestly Iād rather spend the time with him and getting to do the little things with him.
Iāve taken my 4yo and iād rather not bc he gets miserable after awhile. If you have calm children it might be easier.
Nope
Too much work to get them in and out to pickup AND drop off orders and only a crappy parent would leave their kid unattended in a vehicle
My kids are all older now, but when they were small we would take them with us. You canāt for instacart and shipt but the rest you can.
My daughter goes with me sometimes, but sheās 13 and old enough to sit on the car by herself for a little bit.
I do Shipt, I took my son only one time when i absolutely had to but it wasnāt a fun time for me or him so I donāt recommend it unless you absolutely have to!!
I think door dash is wonderful for teens who trying to get there hours in with getting there drivers license and bonding time with a parent
My neighbor Uber eats a lot and I saw a whole family delivery twice for him, different families of course. But mom, dad and kids.
I have a 12 year old and I do. I wouldnāt with a child younger than 9. As you are not supposed to leave them alone in vehicle. So only if you have some older child or one who will come with youā¦ or an adult to watch the kids
This would have been a really awesome thing 3 years ago for me when all I could fldo with my two kids to make them sleep was drive for hours on end. I say do it! Yes! I mean if they like the car of course. Lock the door and take the key with when you run up to the house real quick, but youāre right there, I say if itās a safe neighborhood do it! Make that money while giving car rides
Not bashing.
Just wondering.
How do you take your kids on Uber drives with you??
Like they are in the back seat? Do they sit with strangers or do the strangers sit in front with you?
Do you have an 8 seater and hide the kids in back?
Not dashing or anything.
Seriously wondering.
I take mine and run in to grab the food and if thereās a wait I wait in my car with the kids. I donāt live in a very big, busy city. Also, if itās late, itās only drive through open anyway and the kids are calm and will pass out in the car.
I have but they hated it.
Sometimes you get apartments and have to park and walk the food in.
None of these judgmental types would have survived the 80ās and earlierā¦
As long as youāre prepared with everything the kids need, and youāre careful not to leave them alone in an unlocked car, go for it!
My husband would take a kid door dashing with him it was kinda a little one on one time with them
I have but My kids dad was driving and I was the one grabbing the orders and bringing them to their door. My kids didnāt mind as long as we ate first lol. My son was 6 at the time and daughter was 1.
I do yeah since itās no contact now I take them for sure and just drop the food off take the picture and out!
That would be considered child abuse! Not to mention breaking child labor laws and the rules of Uber Eats, Doordash, Instacart ect that youre not allowed to have anyone else in the car with you. Would you take your kids to an office job with you? Or a fast food job? NO!
Each of those companies are different, some donāt allow it for safety reasons. Some willā¦
I used to take my son with me. Yes I would have to take him out at every stop but we made a game out of it and he would be the one to put the food at the door step, while I was next to him of course. It would sometimes take me longer, but overall it was easy and definitely a great way to earn some extra cash.
My kids would eat the food
This is probably why my orders are always wrong and folks try to substitute items. Totally distracted at work and too lazy too look.
I take my son with my heās 4ā¦I do UberEatsā¦ Havenāt had any issues
If the kids can drive, Iām sure theyād find it fun.
My girls are 12 and 15. They like to rotate who comes with me so we spend one on one time together. They do not do any of it they just tag along for the ride for bonding time
I donāt think thatās a good idea. You canāt just stop in the middle of a run and change the baby or deal with a screaming toddler. You wouldnāt have your job very long if you did. Young kids would get bored in a hurry. And I would say your bossās insurance wouldnāt put up with it.
I took my son to wk alot as a kid. Do what you have to sis as long as they safe
Probably wouldnāt be covered by employersā insurance even though you usually use your own vehicle but in saying that IF it was a sub-contracting deal as owner/ driver - I saw a man delivering for a major parcel courier company and what looked like his granddaughter accompanying him on a Saturday (just once). Not an Australia Post one though. Oh and he taught her how to block our front screen door while he was at it by putting it up against the screen door, well done grandpa.
I cannot stand when instacart lady brings her toddlers in and letās them run around the store opening and breaking shit. Wish people minded their children when they bring them to a store.
I have been doing this since postmates started in 2018 and I have brought my kids with me many times. They enjoy it very much.
I take my daughter with me when I do Shipt all the time. You do what you have to do. At the end of the day youāre an Independent Contractor. Live by YOUR rules.
I take my kids with me. They love it. They hear my phone go off and run saying, āmoms got an order!ā We live in small town close to all the restaurants so we stay home until we get a good order, then come back home after we finish and continue with our day until we get another one. I homeschool so we have homeschooled in the car while delivering or waiting on orders lol.
I do especially my youngest
I have 4 kids and they go with me. 9,8,5,2
Yes I take mine and I just take like little stuff for them to do in the car
I am a school bus driver, my work allows me to take my kids to work with me! You should consider this! I recommend to all moms of little kids.
I drive my kids to/from school. Iāve driven their field trips, sports trips. I donāt pay for babysitting. I have the whole middle of the day off to do errands/housework. I donāt work weekends or holidays because my schedule is the school schedule. So if my kids are off school Iām off work, unless I sign up for extras. And for vacations my state allows us to get unemployment temporarily. But every state/company is different. Some pay for vacations, some have a little saving plan, some do unemployment.
Check it out!
I take my daughter with me. We have a tray for the car seat. And pack toys/coloring books/ and her tablet
For doing work in spare time i maklng $ 500 every day using my mobile. l never th0ught l c0uld d0 that, but my frlend w0uld earn m0re than $ 16,284 a m0nth and persuade me t0 glve lt a try. The p0sslbllltles are endless.
I absolutely wish this was around when my kids were little. I will cheer lead behind you and this idea. You get to choose when and where you deliver. Worst case, it doesnāt work out. No harm done. You tried!!
Iāve been thinking about this too.
Yeah our 6yr old and I go with daddy when he doesnāt wanna be alone
I plan to start this soon as an extra income Iāll probably take my kid with me why not
Cassandra Anderson you can chime in on this! I know you do your door dash or instacart with your Littles!
I did it with 3 kids in carseats, when my baby daddy was around to sit in the car with them.
No hate, just curious! Iāve been wanting to dash for extra money, but donāt you have to go in for the food?? I have two toddlers, Iām not trying to constantly take them into different restaurants, stores, etc over and over throughout the dayš¤£
Are yāall leaving them in the car when you go into the restaurant to get the food or deliver it? Iām confused.
There is zero chance I would bring my baby to pick up strangers. You know the risks. People suck. I would never put my baby in that danger.
