Hi. My baby girl is two years two months. She’s breastfeeding and takes formula too. Growth, milestone, and development is good. I have been thinking of giving pediasure to her, but here as per our health regulations, 2+ pediasure can only be given to children above three years. Have any mamas given pediasure to children two years old? If so, does it help?
She’s 2 and drinks formula!? The pediasure is for 2+ but can’t have it until she’s 3?? She eats regular food and seems completely fine what exactly are you hoping it’ll help with?
If she is breastfeeding, taking formula, and eating a regular diet the I doubt she needs it. I give it to my son because he is small and doesn’t always eat the greatest. Its just a way to put healthy calories on kids.
You could just give her multivitamins. They make liquid vitamins for children under 3 if your worried she isnt meeting her nutritional needs
I gave it to my son when he turned 2 (stopped b.f. when he was 6months I was preg. With my daughter so I couldnt continue doing so with him)
he was fine. I gave it to him when I felt he didnt eat enough (picky eater but not as a meal replacemt)
only issue I had was when everyone wasn’t on the same page about not giving him more then 1 a day if he had 2 he would have a doody booty blowout but other then that he was great. No issues
Why not feed her nutritious foods?
I don’t see why you would give it to her if all her growth is good.
You really need to talk to her pediatrician.
If your child is meeting the milestones & growing well? You dont need this!
If your child has a consist weight gain & growth pattern. You dont need it.
You can make your child sick because of all the vitamins she’s getting from the formula & your breast milk.
You need to relax & take a breather.
My son has been on Pediasure for a year because he has a problem with keeping weight on!
If you’re child is eating well, growing & gaining? You don’t need this.
Unless she’s having a hard time gaining weight or has some sort of a medical condition I don’t see it being necessary. Just make sure she is eating a good diet.
If growth isnt a concern then she doesnt need it. Its generally for littles that struggle to gain weight or are so picky they dont eat.
Being on formula and breast milk…even if shes a picky eater and not eating much… she’s already getting everything’s it could give her.
Pedisure isnt really healthy to begin with. So unless your child actually needs it dont use it.
At 2 she doesn’t need formula
Help with what?? She’s already getting plenty of nutrients if she’s taking breast milk AND formula. My daughter was on Pediasure and then later Kids Boost Essentials. They’re full of sugar and really generally only used to add weight/calories to ones diet. I’m not some crazy healthy eater. I eat McDonald’s more than I should but I don’t see why you’d want to fill your kid up with liquid sugar if they’re doing alright without it.
My child is 2 and her doctor told us to give her pedisure
At 2 your child can still be breastfed but doesnt need formula and definitely should be getting the bulk of their nutrients from food. Pediasure would be ok as a supplement but you definitely should have these conversations with your health practitioner
Um I feel like this is missing context or something because I don’t understand why you would give it to her…
This makes no fucking sense.
If she’s breastfed, the only other thing she needs is a nutritious diet not formula and pediasure.
Why at 2 years old is she still on formula? She should be eating mostly food by that age and having milk or water with her meals. Buy your baby healthy foods and have them eat healthy, instead of trying to get them to continue drinking all their nutrients but adding a ton of non natural sugar.
Breast milk and formula??? Feed her food…
If she is gaining weight and developing like she’s supposed to why would you give her pediasure? It sounds like your baby is getting all of what she needs from the formula and breastmilk, no need for pediasure.
She needs real, solid food. Formula should have stopped at 12 months. Breastmilk cannot be her only source of nutrition now, since she turned 1. Feed her vegetables and fruits and proteins.
If her growth is good. Do NOT give it to her🙄
You stated her growth milestones and development is good, I’m not understanding why Pedia sure would even be an option? That’s typically for kids who are behind in weight … also she should not be having formula being two years old. Breast milk is fine, and maybe cows milk or an alternative. Or just plain old water.
Don’t give that to your child. Make sure your child is eating. Even if they don’t eat well or eat much due to food allergies, stay away from pediasure
Why would she need it if growth is Good?
Guess I don’t understand what u mean by does it help when you aren’t explaining what’s wrong or what you’re trying to help.
Wait 2 YEARS and she’s on formula
No there are so many bad calories in that stuff. If her diet is healthy and well balance she doesn’t even need baby formula
If growth an development are good theirs no need for anything extra.
She should be eating a regular solid diet . Shouldn’t be drinking formula and breastfeeding
My son was prescribed pediasure at age one. He was preemie and had reflux issues for years.
Does she eat any food at all?? Confused. She should have been on solids a while ago. There’s too much info missing here but NO pediasure if her growth is fine. I mean, I’m not understanding.
My daughter started drinking pediasure at 2, she is now 3 almost four and drinks 3-4 pediasure a day. I would avoid them as much as possible. They are expensive and full of sugar. Unless for medical purposes I would NOT give them to your child.
My oldest had issues with a growth and eating delayand he was prescribed pediasure for the calories by a team at a pediatric hospital at age 3. He was getting 4-5 a day for quite awhile. There was a stint where he was on a prescription only, insanely expensive kind too. It all helped him immensely. I don’t understand if everything is fine, why you would though? If your doctor isn’t concerned you shouldn’t be.
All hype. Unnecessary. Drop a multi vitamin in a milk shake. Same thing.
Uhh does she not get real food as well? Honestly I would cut the formula and add more real foods. She shouldn’t be on an all liquid diet at this age…
My daughter has ASD and is a picky eater. She has been drinking Pediasure since she was 2.
We started pediasure around 18 months to 2 years old for our 2 and 3 year old per our pediatricians recommendation, But if there isn’t a need for it I wouldn’t worry about trying to give her pediasure. We used it because our two toddlers refused to eat properly for awhile and weren’t gaining weight enough as a result. If there is no medical need for them I wouldn’t give them to her though.
We did Enfamil step 3 for the dha and extra nutrients. We don’t regret it!
Is there a reason your daughter is still on formula at 2? We were told 1 year max after my daughter lost interest in breastfeeding. There is no need for formula or pediasure if she’s growing normal.
No more formula! And you shouldn’t give her pediasure unless she having trouble eating/growing. If she likes food give her food! M
There’s toddler formula ladies. I’m shocked to see not many people know that…
She should be off formula.
Mine has been drinking Pediasure since she was about 14-15 months old. I had to wean her from the breast due to another pregnancy and milk supply dropping. Biggest reason was because she has a milk allergy so she couldn’t have cows milk. We tried soy, goat, almond milks and she wouldn’t drink them. Anyways, growth wise she still petite, weighing about 20 lbs. She snacks throughout the day, which her pediatrician said is fine as she won’t eat a full meal. She eats maybe a handful and she’s done
I saybgive her food, but I know that there are medical diagnosis out there that prevents them from eating solids even at that age. That said you should be asking these questions with her pediatrician and not on fb.
Why would you? Your child should be being exposed to a variety of healthy real food, not processed crap. Unless she has sensory based aversions to real food pediasure is unnecessary.
Why do you want to give to her, if she is finee?
i strongly suggest asking your pediatrician.
Stop formula. She should be eating and drinking what you are. 3 meals, snacks, milk, water, juice
That child can chew steak.
I don’t know, this post has got me confused. Surely this child is eating more than formula and breast milk. The breast milk I can understand but the kid should have been off formula a LONG time ago. My two year old is the same age and has three meals a day, two snacks, one juice, water and two servings of regular cows milk. She also gets a daily gummy vitamin.
Honestly it didn’t help my son and I had to force him to drink it because he didn’t like it. After three months and no results I stopped fighting him on it. My youngest ended up drinking what was left even tho she didn’t need it and she was about 2 years old with no issues . But I suggest giving her real food instead of formula which babies are usually off of by a year old
I had to use plain pedialyte when my baby was weeks old and in the hospital. She had to fast for xrays but you cant just not feed a baby, so the staff recommended giving her plain pedialyte. And it went totally fine. But yeah, not for any other reason. They said it’s really only for when they are sick or cant eat or are dehydrated.
I’ve been giving pediasure since she was 2 years 8 months… It’s absolutely wonderful… Helping in weight gain and keeping her full through out the night, also regulated her bowls
Your child sounds healthy and happy. It sounds like an expensive waste of time to me.
Your 2yr should be off.formula and on regular.milk at the time they turn 1. Breast milk of course too of you’re still breastfeeding.
Yes my kiddo was her pedi recommended it and it helped her catch up with weight gain for a few montha
At 2 years she should eat real food
Shes two years old mama. Give her food. Healthy choice or whatever you prefer. If you’re worried about her intake speak with her pediatrician about food options. The post is written like all she gets is formula and breast milk
Wait, your child is 2 and still on formula?
Do you have a pediatrician?
I gave it to mine when he wouldn’t eat. And he was eat food food, fully transitioned.
