It can but French toast is typically sweet…
I wouldn’t do it but I see where it might be different and possibly good. Like it adds another depth of flavor

My boyfriend puts salt, black pepper and olive oil. It’s an Italian thing. It’s actually quite good as it tastes a little bit like focaccia bread

Definitely not…cinnamon while cooking then confectioners sugar and syrup to eat.
I mean if you’re going to do a savory take on it instead of the typically sweet. Can’t hurt to get creative. Never done it myself. Normally in my egg dredge I’ll put tons on cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar. That way it’s tasty with or without a syrup. Since I’m not a big syrup fan. But also a homemade cream cheese icing slaps on some French toast.
I dip my bread in plain egg for my french toast then fry and top with butter, salt, and pepper.
I mean, people like what they like.
But, we don’t do that to our French toast.

Personally I like cinnamon sugar and I wouldn’t use pepper but your friend might like the sweetness with the flavour of the pepper.
Not strange if it is what you like. What is wierd is when ppl debate over it.

It sounds strange but honestly its probably reall good and I’m gonna definitely try it now. I put pepper on everything, especially banana sandwiches so my taste buds are weird anyway.

So, when I make my milk/egg to dip the bread in, yes I add pepper.
Salt, pepper, cinnamon, a splash of vanilla, butter and milk.
Then top with syrup (and sometimes powered sugar)

I put salt and pepper in my custard. Along with vanilla cinnamon and orange zest.

I put salt and pepper along with cinnamon and sugar in the egg and cream mixture and beat that well before dipping the bread into it.
uh no. But I do add a dash of cinnamon and ground nutmeg along with sea salt to the batter.
I use salt pepper and butter. No syrup
its your choice .i put cinnamon on mine if want it

It may be strange but people put pepper on all kinds of things. I have a recipe somewhere for black peppered ice cream!

Strange to me, but everyone has different tastes.
My dad used to put salt and pepper on his and wouldn’t even try it with syrup. He said it was cooked in egg so it needed salt and pepper no syrup. I always thought it was weird and he was definately missing out but to each his own.
Never tried it so I won’t knock it. I’m willing to try it.

I love plain french toast with salt and pepper!!! (No syrup or anything else though) (Also don’t use cinnamon and vanilla in egg mixture when i’m making it with salt and pepper)

I accidentally put pepper and salt in the eggs mix for French toast! The French toast was very delicious! I’ve made it the same way ever since!
