I filled an umbrella last year for my 3 year old daughter and filled a backpack for my 9 year old son

we usually go on vacation. lol. not religious at alllllll so it means nothing to us.

i know my in-laws do an easter egg hunt for the kids and the eggs usually have stuff like change in them and the golden egg might be the “big” prize ($5-20 depending on how old your kids are).

We do baskets but we hide the baskets and they have to find them.

I get treats, stickers, books, toys for their scavenger hunt

I saw umbrella baskets online, open up the umbrella and put all the stuff in there

I hid eggs. Because my son was Uber competitive I confined his eggs to the backyard and my daughter’s eggs to the front yard. I’ve always found the mall Easter bunnies to be way creepier than the Santa’s, so we skipped those after a few tries. If you’re Christian, bake a cross cake and decorate it together. Or share a Passover story/ritual. If not, find some spring equinox celebrations/talks/planetarium shows to learn more about the natural phenomenon and the history of how people viewed this time of year.

Go to a nature center and learn about plants and animals that emerge this time of year and how we can be good stewards of the earth during spring. Go to a garden and look at flowers that bloom this time of year. Get seeds and plant things for summer blooms, foods and herbs.

Get a good picture of your family. Blow it up and glue it onto a piece of cardboard. Cut it up. Put the pieces in the eggs you hide. All the kids have to cooperate to assemble the puzzle out of all the pieces.
