How can I get my child to stop smacking their lips when they eat?

Ik this might sound childish but how do i get my child to stop smacking their lips when they eat? She hasn’t have this problem before but lately after my mom video chats her; she’ll do it aggressively right next to my ears and it’ll hurt bad. Can someone give me tips on how to stop it?

Gentle correction/reminder that we chew with mouth closed every time she does it. Make sure she hasn’t developed allergies that has her nose stuffed up as that can cause it too. I totally understand though as that is one of many sounds that causes me to have extreme emotional/stress reactions.

Do it to her. Hold her lips shut . Flick her on the lips.

How old is your child? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

My daughter used to do that, every once in a while she still will. I finally got tired of correcting her so I took her plate for like 1 minute every time she did it. It took 2 dinners that lasted about 1 hour each for her to quit. When she does it now, I remind her about before and she stops.

I will give my kids a warning or two and then they are excused from the table, whether they were done or not.
