How can I get my son to stay in his bed at night?

My child is 3. he is constantly waking up in the middle of the night and coming to my room and I am getting over it at this point. What are some ways that I can get him to stay in his bed?

Give him a treat for every night he stays in his room.

Mines almost 5, been in his own bed since 2 but still wakes up in my bed every single day. I’m hoping he outgrows it soon😅

It’s normal, he just wants some cuddles for comfort. I let mine come in so I have no advise on how to stop it. They just did on their own when they were abit older (about 5) I don’t see why they should have to sleep alone and scared if you’re in the next room.

Definitely very normal, as exhausting as that is to hear. I’ve got a 7 year old that still wakes up sometimes :woman_shrugging:t4: Have you asked him why he wakes up at night? Maybe he needs a nightlight? Or a sound machine?

I wish I knew that answer. Just slept with mine. At least I got some sleep! :joy:

As exhausting as it is just keep taking him back to bed, but first make sure his room is comfortable for him to sleep in. My kids both have to have a night light plus soothing music playing in their rooms at night.

That’s normal tho. My son is 5 basically and still has some nights where he come over.

I have no personal experience with this as both my kids slept in their own beds since they were babies. The best advice I can give is search Super Nanny Jo Frost and tips to staying in bed. She’s always had some amazing tips. Her tips only work if you follow through with her steps. Trust the process.

Be patient and loving and walk him back to his bed every time. Stay with him for a little bit until he is calmed and asure him that you’re always there for him.
Yes, it’s tiring but eventually it will pass. I went through these phases with all my 3 kids and they just want love, comfort and reassurance that you are there. It is so exhausting and you are probably desperate but take deep breaths and try to take turns with your husband
