How can I get rid of a migraine while pregnant? Tylenol isn’t working and I’ve tried every other home remedy I can think of. I’ve called off 4 days in a row now. If I call off one more I’m fired. I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow but this is getting bad. The only reason I can even see my phone is because my mom taught me to ignore pain as much as possible as a kid so I can manage it enough if I’m resting. The only thing that works for me is ibuprofen but even if that was on my OBs approved list- I don’t have any or the money to get any. I’m struggling so much
I’d get your blood pressure checked.
Talk to doc they had me taking magnesium and b6 it can help I have chronic migraines but also freeze a rag or bag of frozen veggies hell IV even used a popsicle and put it on your neck and eye that hurts get in a quiet dark room and try and sleep it off
Vomiting and then sleeping is the only way I am able to get rid of a migraine
I suffered really bad migraine headaches my third pregnancy. I took excedrin migraine when I was pregnant it was the only thing that helped me. Good luck I know the pain mama
Definitely visit your dr or obstetrician. Drink lots of water & have magnesium.
My OB recommended two extra strength Tylenol with an entire can of Coke and an ice pack. The caffeine is key! Hope you feel better soon.
Ask about taking magnesium, helped me with my headaches and leg cramps, even put me in a better mood
Go to l&d they can give you stronger stuff that’s safe
I suffered with migraines my entire pregnancy my OB put me on sumatriptan and maxeran. Taking them together every 6 hours was the only thing that saved me.
An ice pack over your eyes
Dehydration, low electrolytes, blood sugar issues, and many more things could cause migraines. Even your eyesight changing.
Have you checked your blood pressure ?
My ob allowed me to take benadryl. It put me to sleep when Tylenol wouldn’t touch the migraines. Can you take benadryl?
I had migraine all my pregnancies and I had to suffer no Tylenol no nothing I couldn’t take anything per my dr.
I put a little baking soda in a glass of water for minor headaches. They say it also works on migraines. I don’t have migraines.
Ice pack on the back of your head. I have really bad migraines and I finds it helps a lot. I even run cold water over the back of my head. Cold as you can handle.
You may be eligible for short term disability or get an intermittent FMLA claim for migraines. Def get it checked out. Could be a blood pressure issue.
Try peppermint essential oil one drop rub it on your temples and put your feed in tepid water. For some reason my friend swore by these methods for her migrains. Stay hydrated i wish you all the best
My doctor told me to do Tylenol with a soda or cup of coffee. Caffeine typically helps migraines. Infact most over the counter migraine med are just ibuprofen and caffeine.
Hopefully you get some relief
Get 100% grape juice! As Natural as you can afford. The skins from the grape help with migraines . Was the only thing that helped me when pregnant
Check blood pressure maybe preeclamptsia
After 4 days you may want to go to the Er. Then you would also have an excuse for work.
You need to go to urgent care asap. That was my first symptom of pre eclampsia.
I had this wit my daughter just had to sleep started this time and screwed x
High blood pressure can cause you to have a migraine as well. See as that you are pregnant I would at least go to urgent care and have it checked.
Bag of frozen peas on back of neck and feet in hot water.
Personally, I find vomiting then sleeping is what works for me
Try using dissolvable asprin
If you’re under 20 weeks you can take excedrine. But this sounds like you should probably go into the ER or an urgent care
When I get a migraine cocktail at the er, not pregnant they include Benadryl. So Benadryl and the orange chewable Dramamine
You cannot be sacked for migraines during pregnancy. Pregnancy related issue due to you not being able to take anything. I suffered really bad during my 1st pregnancy and had quite abit of time off.
I definitely think you should be booking an appointment with your doctor, it’s not normal to have 4 day migraines and I’m not a doctor but it could be a sign of something that needs to be treated! Best of luck!
Honestly you need to be seen soon. Pregnancy and migraines aren’t great. In the meantime eat good food like proteins and veggies, drink a lot of water, caffeine and ice or heat packs on your face/base of skull. If you can handle it I’d submerge yourself in a hot tub. I get migraines regularly enough I have medication now for them but this is what I’ve always used to work through them.
Please follow up with HR too. This should qualify for FMLA. This way you won’t lose your job.
I’ve taken butalbital for migraines, even in pregnancy. It’s risk vs benefit, and if you’re suffering from one for multiple days, nothing is working, and you are really going to lose your job, something’s gotta give.
Try putting your feet in warm water and putting an ice pack on the back of your neck. If that doesn’t help I would go to the ER.
Ice pack on the back of your neck. But you need to have your bp checked! Typically a migraine type headache with zero relief is from elevated blood pressure. I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia & their first sign prior to my bp being checked was an incessant headache.
You should go to the er if it won’t go away.
That’s definitely a go to the Dr situation. If it is a migraine they can give you something to help…but if it’s something else, like blood pressure, that needs immediate attention during pregnancy for your health and baby’s health.
If it’s that bad you should probably go to the er.
Drink more water, and peppermint oil behind your ears and on your temples
If you’re under 20 weeks you can take excedrine. But this sounds like you should probably go into the ER or an urgent care
I have migrastil… Its a migraine stick… I got it on Amazon… Roll it on your skin and the scent relieves the headache… I don’t know how it works but it does
You need to go be seen today to see if you have eclampsia!!
Hello, you might want to get that checked out. 4 days in a row is not good I’m just saying
I’m no OB but I had preeclampsia and it was no fun. But get checked out it’s Better to be safe than sorry
Cold compress on the back of the neck
That could be a sign of high blood pressure you need to be seen by your doctor ASAP
Ice pack on forehead and one on the back of your neck. It freezes/cools the nerves.
Ask your Dr for a fmla to save your job.
Brain tumor? Hope not but get checked out.
If you don’t have the money for ibuprofen, how can you afford a child?
Look into acupressure . I’d do the press and hold then release a few times @ temples, base of skull, and that indent in your wrist, plus concentric massage from eye sockets to to hairline. It didn’t get rid of the headache but helped.
I found Tai Chi helped with a lot of physical issues. My fave for being quick & easy is Tai Chi Ch’ih: Joy through Movement on You Tube,
Acupressure. Take the index finger and thumb of your right hand and push on the webbing between the index finger and thumb of your left hand for about 25 seconds. Then trade. If the migraine is on one side more than the other start opposite the side that hurts. I know it sounds nuts but it works. Feel better Momma!
Your blood pressure can caused that. For christ sake
Any migraine, pregnant or not should be seen in the ER if it’s lasted more than 3 days. It’s considered a status migraine and won’t respond to home remedies. You need something like a steroid.
Benadryl. Don’t take Tylenol while pregnant. Ibuprofen is ok if you have to- just not wanted in 3rd trimester especially.
I have to take prescription migraine pills while pregnant or I end up in the ER with 3 day long migraine. I don’t want to take the medicine etc but I have no choice or I end up in ER with unbearable pain. Buy these 2 things. Keep 2 head things in freezer at all times. They help I swear.
Only get this purple one without the lined border edge. I bought the black one and the ones with new edge they’re not the same and don’t stay cool like the one I’m sending you. Buy 2 of them- must have 2 bc when one isn’t cold anymore you throw it back in and get other from freezer.
Also buy this it helps. Rub it all over scalp, neck, jaw, forehead, shoulders, temples etc.
Migrastil Migraine Stick® Rollon - Fast Cooling Comfort for Your Head. Aromatherapy with Peppermint & Other Essential Oils. Metal Roller. Made in USA by Basic Vigor https://a.co/d/hOw4gKU
I struggled for 2 or 3 months with intense, vomit inducing migraines. The only thing I could do was lay in a cool dark room with cold water or Gatorade… it went away around the 2nd trimester for me… good luck mama
Put a banana peel on your head, even better if it’s cold from the fridge! The inside part that the banana touches against the head. Worked wonders on my pregnancy migraines
My Dr recommended coffee for the caffeine. It helped some.
I suffered from migrainesymptoms for years and was on stronger and stronger narcotics for them. I was told by a neurologist to try putting my head under the coldest tap water you have. I was at my wits end with an awful migraine, meds not working so I tried it. IT WORKED!!! Instant relief. Worth a try.
I had to go to the er 5 times due to migraines while pregnant. I’ve always battled with them but I just couldn’t get any relief. I would try everything possible. Once it hit day 5, I would go. Tried benadryl and Reglan, Fioricet, and so on. They could bring it from an 8 down to 6, which was helpful but I never found anything that would actually work.
Cold cloth on forehead dark room or cool shower
I would go to the chiropractor for my headaches. It helps with thw blood flow.
Cold pack to the area, reduces the blood vessels that can contribute to the migraine
I used to tie a bandana as tight as i could around my head at the temples like where a hat rim would sit and pit ice over my eyes in a quiet black room. But u need to get ur blood pressure checked mama. Get as much liquids as u can in u. Try caffiene also. Coke or coffee
Have your doctor write you a note of you need time off work. Being pregnant and pregnancy related symptoms that keep you from working are covered under the ADA. They can’t fire you for missing work due to pregnancy issues. But it needs to be documented by your doctor.
Nausea Or going to throw up … hummm
Need to pee scratch the back of your calf …
They sell ibuprofen at my dollar store. Do you have one near you?
Try pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth and apply pressure with your thumb between your eyes for 20 sec …
You seriously need to go in. Also I’m sorry that you had a s***** mom
