How do you help baby eczema?

Hello  Just wanted some opinions on what other mamas used on their children for Eczema? I currently use Aveeno lotion for it and it does no justice. Also i bathe him in oatmeal baths. My son has a appointment this month on the 27th with a dermatologist but he needs relief till then. He spends his nights crying and itching till he bleeds:broken_heart: Thanks in advance.

Cool water & vaseline! I have to use prescription steroids when mine flares, but cool baths no hot water, no fregrances or dyes. I dont use ANY lotion.

Cetaphil wash and lotion. I had eczema as a child and used this. As I got older I had to go to a dermatologist and get a prescription ointment until I grew out of it.

Have you tried Aquaphor?

I use the steroid oil twice a week and it’s great… also eucernia is new ointment I use in between with no steroids from my LO dermatologist

Coconut oil. Put it in the fridge so it gets firm and it will melt into their skin when applied like lotion. Hopefully at your appointment they will give you medicated oil and possibly some allergy testing

Our PCM recommended Aquaphor, every other day baths when possible, and a humidifer in the bedroom. Some people have had good luck reducing the severity of the eczema when reducing gluten in the diet. Good luck!

Have you tried Aquaphor?

Oatmeal baths & cocoa butter oil. It’s messy but totally worth it. I also use cetaphil eczema wash 2-3x per week.

Doctor recommended CeraVe for my daughter and it really helped! And my bf had extremely dry skin on his hands due to weather. Pharmacist even recommended CeraVe

I use cetaphil eczema on my son, helps tremendously

I use sensitive baby Dove wash and lotion, plus the gentle Tide to wash clothes. When it gets bad, we use hydrocortisone cream on the rashy areas.

Something called farmers

Vaseline worked wonders for my little one until she saw the dermatologist. The eczema relief creams irritated her more.

Hydrocortisone works wonders on really bad spots…my drs prescribed my kids a really thick unscented lotion that helps alot…ppl say it’s like aquaphor…I haven’t had to use anything stronger then regular. Lotion on my 5 year old in years though…but I know I had a bad spot on my ankle a few years ago that I couldn’t get rid if of with nothin n I finally used hydrocortisone n it cleared up almost immediately

My kids had that and the only thing that worked was taking them a bath every day but only washing them with mild soap every other day and right after the bath I would use lubaberm lotion the non perfume one and they would heal fast

Hydrocortisone is what my dr reccomended. Let it sit for 2 mjns then use the eczema lotion hers was gone in 2 days

Vaseline or aquaphor and vanicream works really well for my kids and myself. Hydrocortisone when it’s really bad.

I have my little girl drinks lots of water and I use lubriderm on her. That’s seemed to help a lot.

Hydra Cortizone over the counter

Hydrocortisone cream most drug stores sell it used it for my daughter and when I had hives I used it and it brought instant reliefs

Try unrefined virgin coconut oil. You find it in the grocery store by the cooking oil. It works WONDERS in a few hours & dramatically in a few days.

My son’s skin would be so bad it would bleed. THIS, is the only thing, after trying everything else, that helped!

Dove for babies fragrance and dye free for sensitive skin tip to toe wash and lotion. Aveeno night time balm. Essential oils

Prescription see if his PCP can get you something until then nothing else worked my son would cut himself open from scratching and still try scratching

Get an allergy test done as well. Something he comes in contact with or eats can set off flare ups

Lush Dream Cream is what works for my grandson.

O’Keefe’s body lotion worked wonders for my little guy. I tried everything even prescriptions with no relief! I use this twice a day and it’s been wonderful!

Get some over the counter cortisone and some eucerin cream, mix a little of both in your hand together and then rub it on the area. Do it after a bath while he’s still damp. My sons doctor taught me this trick as he has the worst type, he’s constantly itching to the point of infections but doing this has helped and healed his skin

Straight vitamin e oil is the only thing that has worked on my son.

First don’t bathe them every day try every other day or every 2 days. Second depending on how bad it is the over the counter lotions or creams may not help give much if any relief. Try using all free and clear laundry soap as well. As for what lotions help in my personal experience was an extremely potent medicated ointment from dermatologist along with eczema & psoriasis body washes and lotions. Good luck every kiddo is different. The scaring by age 18 won’t be so bad if you teach your kiddo to slap the itch instead of scratch it. May your little one gain some relief

We used cetaphil cream or eucerin cream mixed with vaseline. It worked great! Dont use lotions, creams are thicker and moisturize longer.

Do you guys have a shoppers drug mart? There is a section just for eczema and lots of good creams, there’s an Aveeno baby for eczema. I use Eucerin when I don’t want to use my steroid cream. Do not use any creams with petroleum in it as this will make it worse. I’ve been using Taro clobetasol for over ten years, I’m not sure what the doc will prescribe for a child.

Coconut oil with lavender essential oil

We’ve tried many lotions, the only one that really helped clear it completely has been the new Vaseline one

T/gel shampoo is good to use for itching

I suffered from eczema throughout my entire childhood. The only relief I was able to find was to not use soaps, oatmeal baths and not too often. Once I got out of the bath my mother would take a damp cloth and wipe me down and let me air dry. She would then lather on an emollient cream (ask your pharmacist) and put me in cotton.
Synthetics tend to make you sweat which then causes the itch and drives you insane. The secret was not to bathe unless absolutely necessary, and moisturize. Hopefully your little one is able to find some relief.

I have hypothyroidism which makes my eczema worse. I use this and I finally am not bleeding this winter.

I tried everything, aveeno lotion, babyganics lotion, dove lotion, johnsons lotion, vaseline, only thing that’s made an improvement for my 5 month old is the Eucerin eczema therapy creme.

Hydrocortisone once a day (before bed)

Eurcrisa!! My son had it really bad from 9months old he would scratch himself bloody😔and we had been buying products spending well over a couple hundred dollars and nothing worked. My mom saw a ad on Facebook about Eurcrisa and we have been using it a year and it works wonders! He doesn’t scratch at its steroid free. It’s very pricy but if you go to the website they will give you a coupon and with insurance it’s reasonable without it’s a hefty price tag. We swear by it.

My son has eczema and i use goatmilk soap on him. It helps.

Gold bond eczema lotion is amazing. It works so well. I have bad eczema on my hands. It is often the only thing that works!

My sister would use flour on my nephews hand when it would first start itching. The flour would stop it within a few seconds, then she’d rinse it, dry it, and put aquaphor on it.

I use Aveeno balm, not just lotion. You can also mix it with lanolin cream (nipple cream when breast feeding). It works wonders!!! My pediatrician also had me giving Benadryl to my son due to it…only 1/4 tsp when he was little. No more than 1-2 baths a week because that makes it worse-doesn’t matter what you put in it. My son had the same problems and it took us awhile to figure out how to control it but ask the dermatologist about Eucrisa-its steroid free and really helps.

Dove sensitive shampoo and aquaphor

My son has it on his cheeks. It comes an goes and the only thing I have found that works is this night balm but I use it all the time. I took him to the dermatologist she gave him a steroid cream it helped for awhile then quit she also said it should go away completely by 15 months.

Melvory HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE PRODUCTS.

There is a cannabis oil that will clear it up completely. I saw it awhile back on the news…

Aquaphor works great for both my boys

Don’t use anything that has any form of alcohol in it. I used Aquaphor on my son and it worked well.

Carmex my daughter gets it really bad every summer amd we just pit a little carmex on it and it helps her out alot.

Shea moisture has been our life saver! Aveeno actually made my son’s worse. They have a special eczema Black African soothing lotion that made his clear up in about a month. We found it at Walmart.

Eucerin eczema relief

Tamrika StillStanding S thought maybe you could find more things to try

Nivea lotion in the white bottle works wonder

We bathed our son in Aveeno oatmeal bath and lubed him up with Aquaphor every night and covered him in cotton pajamas. Like Hanna Anderson’s. Prescriptions will be a lot like aquaphor. Limit foods that trigger dry skin. My one son only drinks lactose free milk and that seemed to help.

Seems like a lot recommend aquaphor. I’m gonna try that

There is this stuff in the lotion isle. Its a yellow tube. For eczema. I think it’s made by nivea? It worked Wonders on my boys. They didn’t itch at all!!

Hydrocortisone cream and dove sensitive skin

If it’s really bad ask the dermatologist about a bleach bath bomb or whatever.

My son has eczema BAD. We had to get a gallon of distilled water add one tablespoon of bleach to it…

Wet gauze with it and place the wet gauze over the spots keep there for 2 min. Then take them off and put vaseline on the spots. If it was really bad I had to dampen a gauze with just water and place a dry gauze over the wet one on top of the vaseline and tape it there over night. (Do all this 2x a day)

But usually just the bleach and vaseline works wonders. Also, use dove sensitive var soap. That’s now the only soap I can use on my son.

Zink cream mixed equal parts with Vaseline

My daughter developed eczema around age 4 or 5. We did Eucerin, Elidel (prescription cream) and oatmeal baths religiously and she would still have flare ups that bled. My Husband did some research and learned that skin rashes can be a sign of a food allergy. The top 3 are peanuts, eggs and dairy. We cut all dairy from her diet for 2 weeks first (since she had issues with milk based formulas as a baby), the rash stayed. We added dairy back in and tried peanuts next, the rash lessened within 2 days and was completely cleared up by the end of the 2 weeks. The pharmacist said children will typically outgrow eczema, so every few months we would give her a PB&J and it would return. After about a year, she had outgrown it. Obviously if the allergy was dairy, you would need to find alternate sources of calcium, but anyway. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I use eczema lotion from Avon. Dove sensitive skin body was is gentle for me.

Stay away from anything hydrocortisone he is too young it is a harsh steroid

My daughter has tried everything on my granddaughter, my husband went to this lil Mexican store called soyuhos I think that’s how u spell it well anyway he asked one of the lady’s that work there what is good for eczema and she gave him this little bottle of lotion called Sanna it’s from Mexico and it’s the best thing that worked for her

My daughters improved greatly once she started taking probiotics. It opened a door to a slew of other dietary changes for which I am forever grateful. So much better than using steroid cream for the rest of her life.

My almost three-year-old has eczema severely bad and we use hydrocortisone

I used bag balm on my daughter when she was suffering from eczema. Once it cleared up completely, it never came back

Our pediatrician recommended bathing no more than twice a week and using vanicream. I’ve also had good luck with baby badger balm.

Our former pediatrician just recently posted a video on this. She gave some great advice. Her clinic is Integrative Health Carolinas. I know she said she recommends bathing and then covering them with petroleum free Vaseline. And then putting pajamas on immediately. This allows their skin to stay moist and pulls the moisture in.

Honest All Purpose Balm works great for my daughters eczema!

Eucrisa. It also won’t bleach out the skin. My grandson has eczema.

There is Cream for that go to Wal

Little or no dairy and probiotics. Vinegar in the bath water balances PH.

We used Eucerian on our granddaughter.

I use cetaphil lotion on my kids my son only has patches here and there but my daughter has it all over her body constantly and cetaphil works amazing for them
