I mean if they are threatening court action because they think they are, I would just show them :woman_shrugging:t4:

No, and if they do threaten court. Let them; submit the will and all will be done. Don’t submit to dumb people trying to cause drama during your time of grieving. When you’re also trying to fulfill your loved ones last wishes.

You can detest a will.

Typically a last will and testament is written up with an attorney so I would just tell them to contact the lawyer who helped the deceased. If it wasn’t done through an attorney or at least notarized then it may not even be considered a legally binding document. You literally gave us none of the important information needed to answer the question. There are a lot of factors to consider like who are you in relation to the deceased, who are they and how are they related to the deceased, was this done legally through a lawyer or written on a bar napkin?

You can write a will on a napkin and its considered legal as long as you sign it
I asked at a courthouse
So i made a will up by looking online stating what we wanted, listed our assets, passwords etc, signed and dated and just to be safe i got 2 people to sign and dated it too
People can contest a will all they want but its not free they have to pay and i believe its not cheap
You dont have to show anyone who is not in your will but if they maje a stink then show them and be done

It depends on where you’re at in the probate process, if it has not been filed with the court yet the executor only has to address the duties outlined in the document. It the will is contested and filed with the court it is now public record and anyone can ask to see it though the court process in that jurisdiction. (Not legal advice)

Refer them to your attorney

I just went through this. 13 family members contested. 9 got a portion and they weren’t named beneficiaries. Im not mad. Whatever I got was a gift and im grateful for it.

As far as I know, you don’t have to show your will to anyone. That’s privileged information between you and your attorney. It’s probably helpful to give your executor some idea what is in your will, beyond that, no.

If you want to leave a person out of your will, it’s best to leave them $1. They can’t argue that you forgot to include them. It makes it harder to challenge your will.
