How often should I be pumping?

My baby will be in the Nicu for a few months…how often should I be pumping to keep my supply up?

When I was pumping I made sure to pump every 2-3 hours. Also I got one of those lactation massagers and it made a huge impact on my let down and the amount I pumped each session.

I never had a baby in the Nicu, but our pediatrician says a newborn should eat a minimum of 8 times a day. So at minimum pump every 3 hours. You won’t get much the first few days as your milk comes in. To increase your supply, do it more often in short 15-20 minute sessions. It’s better to pump more short sessions than a few long ones

My daughter was in NICU for 8 weeks I pumped every 3 hours cause that’s the schedule they had her on I brought it up before each feeding

I had twins in the NICU for 8 weeks! I pumped every two hours until I had a well established supply and then I pumped every three hours. I pumped essentially every time they ate.
