Bed bugs will not infest food. They only live and rest near their meal source, which is you. I am guessing you saw weevils in your food

You need to treat immediately or you will lose a lot and I mean a lot of money trying to get ride of them !! And it could take a very long time multiple professional treatments but start spraying everything with tea tree oil :persevere::woman_facepalming:t3:

Spraying doesn’t work and once you get them you are royally screwed. You need to have your house super heated and tented several several times and it’s insanely expensive… so you will all need to also clean out everything and find another place to stay for a bit. It sucks I’ve had friends go through it.

It’s alot of work but if you want to get rid of them and it’s still in the early stages then you got to put the work in !!
Hope thus helps and good luck !!

Wow just say it straight out, they are impossible to get rid of!!! It’s not their fault but action needs to take place yesterday.
You might need a pest specialist as it’s too hard on your own to do it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

You need to spray. Call a company In your area. Wash all bedding, towels and clothes in hot water and put in dryer for min 30 min on high heat.

Call the professionals. Trying home remedies will only waste your time and money, and allow them to accumulate.
The heat suggests are technically correct, but you won’t be able to heat it enough yourself.

Good luck but you need to act fast cause every day it gets worse…your friend needs to help

Alcohol spread on the beds on the chairs heat kill them put clothes in the dryer put clothes in a ba find their nests it would be around the bed corners even on the floor where the bed is and spray just keep spraying bed bug spray until there’s no more take a iron that has steam and iron the beds iron the chairs the steam will help kill them. And when you don’t want them to bite you spray alcohol on you. I’ll pray let they go away in Jesus name

I use to work for apartments I would suggest to immediately wash all her clothes in hot water and bag it for a day or two and make sure to steam the heck of out of her room and her stuff and anywhere they hang out and clean and vacuum and shampoo - everyone is saying get the home bombed you can do it on your own! Paying a professional is expensive

Fill one spray bottle with mint alcohol, you can buy it at walmart. And fill another spray bottle with water & peppermint essential oil. Spray it everywhere. This was the ONLY way I could get rid of mine after moving into a bed bug infested apartment once. We had the exterminator there 3 different times and they only seemed to get worse after those visits.

Wash EVERYTHING in the hottest water possible and hottest dryer cycle. Vacuum multiple times a day, empty outside and dispose of immediately outside away from your home.

They are very difficult to get rid if. I had to get rid of my couch and other furniture completely.

Diametacous earth I’m every corner at the edge of everything!
Lights out , google lights out , this kills bugs!!
Steam clean everything you can, hot water wash everything washable, really high heat to dry

Some companies do free inspections! Or they do in TN. My brother had got some and came over so I freaked out and called an exterminator and they came to check. I’m sure they’d give you a quote. I’ve never personally had them but my brother and his room mate basically had to throw everything away so I’d do some research and call an exterminator. Good luck

Exterminator. We had the same thing happen. Invited a friend over who brought a friend with him. His friend’s house was apparently infested. Effed up thing is that the guy we invited KNEW that dude had bedbugs and didn’t see an issue. We battled those things for TWO YEARS before we finally said to he!! with it and moved.

Dawn (blue) dish soap & water mixed in a spray bottle kills them; on contact (& other insects😉)

Don’t use bombs!
A reputable “local” exterminator is your best bet… but make sure they offer some type of garantee/warranty… it’s A LOT of tedious and very time consuming work; but those lil creepy crawlers are WAY smaller than you… and definitely didn’t pay a dollar towards rent/mortgage to live in your home!

Get you a spray bottle and fill it with the highest grade alcohol you can. If tou see one…spray it… spray every hidden cranny. The alcohol kills instantly.open your windows though.

Get stuff to treat and traps. In the beginning, you should treat and vacuum/wash everything at least every three days. Then, Pick a day out once a week to treat and wash bed linen/curtains. If it’s really bad already, empty out dressers and get rid of unnecessary things. We threw things away and put dressers and such out in the shed outside. The less places for them to harbor, the better. Take the mattress off the bed. Treat it well. Vacuum everything liberally after every treatment. Get a mattress cover. And this next part is important! Even if you don’t see them, continue to treat/deep clean weekly for at least a month after last sighting. The traps will be the way you gage this. Also, make sure that nothing is touching the wall.

If it’s in the food it’s Weevils, if you ever go to a food bank they can come from there. Throw all the food out, and bleach the cupboards once a month for a few months and you’ll be okay

Bed bugs don’t go in your food, they are in your beds and sofas and walls,I’ve had them, they’re a nightmare and they bite and leave marks all over your kids so if you don’t have bites on you or the kids it’s not bed bugs… if it’s in the food it’s probably roaches or ants…call an exterminator, if you treat early it’s easier to get rid of

You will likely never see a bedbug… and you’ll be bitten at night. so if it’s in your food it’s probably pantry moths or something. Clean out your pantry.

If you see one, there are 1000s hidden. This worked for my friend. Good Luck.

Crossfire and Cimexa from Amazon are the only things that work. Don’t buy anything from the store, it will only make them run and hide in the walls for awhile then reappear.

Get the bed bug room Bom*s you get them on ebay or amazon they work a treat and also the sprays

Good old Johnson baking soda put it all over the bed carpet every day

Bed bug traps and spray. Walmart has them. Are you renting? Should be the landlords job to get rid of them

I’ve gone through this and the most important thing to do is to repeat the bugbomb or spray 3 days after the first one. Any eggs that may be alive still will hatch and those new ones will lay eggs within a certain amount of days. You have to kill the new ones before they lay their own eggs. 3 days should be perfect

Get cimexa a bulb duster crossfire and a 3 gallon sprayer some gloves goggles and vacuum Declutter and dry everything able on high heat get mattress encasements and repeat

Bed bug bags and diatomaceous earth Everywhere . Wash everything in HIGH heat. Thank.me later

We had to have someone out to heat our house, it’s expensive but it worked!

Are you sure they are bed bugs? I only ask this because I have never heard of them living in food.

There are shelters for them . And OMG bed bugs the hardest .I suggest an exterminator cause they can be all over … All jokes a side a person where I live had bed bugs so bad the people of apt had to come out and rip and strip apt. You don’t know how long you had them and how many go professional

I’ve read on several sites that bombing does more damage than good. Bombing will kill a few but it’s when that bomb is released it makes them scattered and hide in the cracks. All of my kids came back home from their dads one time w/ bites covering different sections of their body. I called him immediately asking what it is and apparently they had them but thought they were rid of them… obviously not lol… he ended up burning the living room furniture bc that’s the only place the bed bugs were. I’d google and get some different methods of what may work… good luck…

Got rid of everything that had any kind of cloth and canvas in my apartment… then we sprayed 5 or 6 times and bombed it EXCESSIVELY. Anything that we kept we left out in black trashbags in the sun for a week. It cost me nearly $1500 by the time I was done…. BUT I only ever found ONE after that and I moved out right after. I can tell you, they get stuck in EVERYTHING so be prepared to clean and scrub everything you HAVE to keep.

Dynatashia earth (( doubtful I spelled this right but I’m sure googling it will help )) it’s like a dirt/sand like substance that is safe for babies, kids, adults, and even pets to be around. Sprinkle it on floors, clothes, everything and wash all of your clothes and bedsheets.

I read to keep spraying rubbing alcohol every where.

Are you sure they are bedbugs with them being in your food?.. speaking from experience of an 18 month nightmare I never once saw them in food. Did you mean room lol? I would bomb the house … I was quoted $2000 to get rid of them, I spent $200 on spray and bombed my house several weeks in a row

Spraying straight rubbing alcohol will kills them also. GrandDaughter got a bed with them. That’s how we killed them sprayed the room but got rid of the mattress

Exterminator immediately or they will get worse. Sprays don’t work. I threw away furniture, washed n bagged all my clothes and called an exterminator. Got rid of them with one time spraying but this guy looked like the ghost busters. He really doused everything. It was sticky n nasty but man I don’t wish those things on anybody.

All these people telling you to do A, B and C, girl get an exterminator, stay with friends for a day or 2 and let them bomb your house. Wouldn’t no part of me be doing that myself :grimacing:

You need to call orkin fast. The faster you catch it the better. I literally had to get rid of everything. Idk how to approach it with your friend. If she did bring them in she needs to help with the expense. It’ll cost thousands to get rid of them & refurnish your home. You could’ve brought them in from anywhere though. Your daughter cost being close to a classmates cost could’ve done it.

Crossfire temprid cinmexa you can order them on Amazon

Sure it’s bed bugs and not Roches.

I’m in the UK, we treat bedbugs often.
They’re a real pain, if you manage to get rid without a pest control company coming out, honestly hats off to you.
All I can recommend is calling one x

We had bedbugs when our baby was a newborn unfortunately from a really nasty apartment we were stuck living in for a few months. Please don’t listen to everyone saying you need to professionally get rid of them. You don’t, and it’s expensive. But, the process of doing it on your own is extensive and will take a while and you will all need to find a place to sleep for a couple days. Buy a pack of bed bug bombs, and use a shit ton of those, and shampoo and vacuum everything. Everything that is made of cloth in your home will need to be washed on high heat. Wash all stuff animals or just throw them out. It’s not gunna be easy. But it’s possible. We did it. We even ended up throwing out or mattress and buying a new one after we bombed our apartment. And try to keep yourselves away for a bit untill it’s taken care of. The bed bug bites are horrible and itch so bad. Good luck.

Call a pro, meantime check beds and clothing and take it outside!

Expensive to get rid of. She needs to pay for the damn things to die. The worst bites ever for a bug and nastiest.

Use this specific package. My daughter came home from etc with them. We used this treatment plan and they were gone in 2 treatments. There’s enough there for 4 treatments. We even put the cimexa dust between mattress and box springs and in the couch arms and under cushions. This dust is what the exterminators are using. The concentrate makes a gallon per bottle and stays on walls for 3 months!!!

Hey you answered your own question

My husband has been in the pest control industry for 12 years . Homemade shit does not work. Tea tree oil, alcohol etc IT DOES NOT WORK don’t try it, you will literally be making the infestation worse, You need an actual company in your home to get rid of them . Wether that is a spray or a heat treatment .
Your going to have to get rid of all mattresses couches electronics etc if you get a spray done as they can’t spray your furniture or things in general, & if you go the heat way you can keep your stuff.
Your clothes put them in the dryer dirty or clean they melt with the heat do it twice then put them in garbage bags.

We had them 6 years ago and cirkil spray got rid of them look it up!

Easy remedy is a mix I preped its going to be a 1 lt. of water
3 spoons of hidrogen peroxide
3 spoons of alchohol
3 spoons of liquid soap(i used dawn)

If you use hot water it works best
Your clothes can be soaked in hot water with detergent
And you can wash your bed and then iron it on low make sure to cover all the creeses

Didn’t Know They Got In Food :flushed:

Spray with isopropyl alcohol daily

Omg seriously my worst nightmare. This happened to us when we moved into a 3rd story room rental every single thing needs to be washed in HOT HOT water and dryer keep it in a black tied up bag for a week, outside in the sun preferably. And the home needs to be professionally sprayed, likely more than once. Bed bugs can lay dormant without feeding up to a year and breed very fast. Also I’d get rid of furniture If you can. They go in walls electrical outlets carpet eveerthingggg. We washed all of everything had them in bags, got rid of all furniture and MOVED asap and that was it for us. But I’ve still been mentally traumatized and that was over 7 years ago. They are hard to get rid of and likely cannot be treated diy.

Aw man, they are pesky things… and are soooo hard to get rid of! They have sprays and such you can buy from Walmart to spray your mattress and other things… but honestly…if you don’t get them all…they will never go away! I would call an exterminator or pest control and see if they can come and assess how bad the infestation is…and see how to move forward! Have you actually seen the bed bugs with your own eyes?? Or are you just assuming that’s what’s on your son’s foot? (No judgement…just asking) I’m not sure what your weather is like but the gnats where I live are so small you can barely see them…and they will eat you alive…and it itches so bad! My son looked like he was getting bitten by bed bugs over the summer… but it was the biting midges (gnats) that were getting him. :green_heart::green_heart: hope everything works out!!

Get an exterminator. Bedbugs are hard to get rid off. Vacuum often and clean floors and wash
Bedding and spray curtains. Be careful if you have pets. Some sprays are poisonous to pets. Heat kills them so wash everything in hot water. And hot dryer. Good luck. I have heard of people having to get rid of mattress and rugs as well as curtains. Check cloth for bugs. They are next to impossible to get rid off

How di you know they are bed bugs ,

You can rent special heaters to get rid of them.

Need to pay for uv treatment, don’t bother with bombs they’re worthless.

Exterminator is the only way. Don’t be embarrassed. It happens. It doesn’t mean you’re dirty. It’s just like any other outside element that comes in your home. But listen to the exterminator, it’s a process.

A lot of people are saying you have to get rid of things. You don’t.

If you’re in Harrisburg,pa area (or surrounding) there’s a good bug guy.

If you can’t afford a bug guy, but can afford a super cheap vacuum, some running alcohol, some food grade diatomaceous earth, and some ortho bed bug, you’re good to go.

You need to vacuum all mattresses. Top, bottom, sides. All of it.
You can spray with rubbing alcohol. Then you need bed covers. The ones that zip. Walmarts sell good ones.
Floor boards and baseboards spray with ortho. Wash all bedding, clothing in hot water and dry on highest setting.

We ended up getting them. I didn’t care I threw everything away except beds I sprayed those down with alcohol put bed covers on I cleaned my house for 8 hours cause I didn’t have 1000 to get a heat treatment. I had well over a 100 bites on my legs mostly and arms that I itched so much I bruised. I was traumatized by it. Even to this day I go to 1 hotel only I don’t lay my stuff around there still. If anyone in my house talks about itching or I see it my house gets super cleaned and sprayed with alcohol. I eventually ended up getting an exterminator who said they only found 3 dead ones after I cleaned my house and stuff and I still did the heat treatment but my anxiety was to high I ended up moving.

Definitely call an exterminator! Do not try to do this on your own! I had a neighbor a while ago who had them and they tried just about everything to get rid of them until they reached a point where they had to call the exterminator. They are the only ones that are going to know exactly what to do and where to walk. Make sure you get a good one. Wash all of the clothes and borax and do not bring them back into the house until after. Extremely cautious and I wouldn’t send your child to school either because they are most likely going to be in her stuff and they will spread it to the school and others . Try to contain everything

You need to call an exterminator. I had this in a rental house and boy that sucked. We had to essentially move out and move back in. Good luck nothing you can do but yourself you will need to call an exterminator they are the hardest bugs to get rid of they can live up to like 400 days without feeding and they will fill your walls also. TRUST ME CALL THE EXTERMINATOR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET RID OF THEM ON YOUR OWN!!

I would be more inclined to think you have weevils, if it’s in food. Dispose of effected food, vacuum pantry and wipe shelves with white vinegar. Check frequently for reoccurring problem and repeat treatment until cycle is broken.

Before they moved in they should have washed everything at laundry mat and left what can’t be washed outside. Shower and fresh clean clothes. Bed bugs must be killed at 120+ degrees. My daughter stayed at a motel that had them, and she told me before she moved in so we could take care of it and didn’t bring them in. Once you get them it’s expensive are hard to get rid of.

steam everything! use like painters plastic thats big enough to cover furniture and beds and put steamers for like clothes under the pastic. do it a few times as well as bedbug spray. it works and will save sooooo much money!

Exterminator and you’ll most likely have to replace your mattresses and couches . All clothes need to be washed in HOT water immediately. You do need to tell her and be up front because she may not know .

You got plenty off good advice from everyone. I just eant to say don’t be embarressed. It’s not your fault and they might not have known they had them either. You were just trying to help.

Call an exterminator sweetie, this happened to my family a few years ago and thankfully we caught it in time and contained it to one room. Some exterminators will actually provide payment plans for you if the cost is ever an issue.

Bed bugs live without their food source for up to one year. BUT you do not have to throw away or burn anything you own, bag everything up. EVERYTHING. Clothing, bedding, stuffed animals, things like that get bagged with no air escaping the bags. You can throw everything in the dryer and put in on high (as hot as it will go) and do heat treatments on your belongings after extermination. Everything else like books, electronics and things can be brought back into the house after the first treatment, that first treatment will also treat your possessions like electronics and other items. After a few months they come back for a second treatment/inspection.

I know bed bugs is an absolute nightmare, and YES it is embarrassing, but what people often forget is this is totally NORMAL! Bed bugs have been around for quite awhile, luckily these days there ARE steps to take to get rid of them.

Talk to her and tell her hey did u happen to pick up bedbugs from somewhere bc we have them in the house and now we have to call an exterminator unfortunately. If shes able to help you with costs ask her.

I burned a chair and two beds and all the bedclothes, found a bedbug powder on Amazon and put it behind baseboards and all around bottom of wall. Left new beds in the plastic and put the powder between the mattress and box spring. It got rid of them. I’m paranoid now, I refuse any used furniture, I won’t even take my stuff in a hotel until I go in and strip the bed down to bare mattress and check

Get an exterminator. See if they have a warranty. Our guy did. We had them while I was pregnant with my now 5 year old. We didn’t have to replace any mattresses or couches. We haven’t had them since. Now any clothing we buy goes in the dryer right away on high heat for 40 minutes.

They really are just about impossible to get rid of… I MOVED & left all furniture behind . Next time you EVER & ALWAYS let anyone even just spend a night and they bring bedding or pillows ASK if they have them and just explain to them it’s not to be rude or that you think there gross and that you ask everyone so to not take it personally , hell I would go as far to put whatever bedding they may bring in the dryer just to be safe cause what if there embarrassed or they possibly don’t know and just explain don’t be another person to not tell anyone, even if they just come over that you have them, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about , it happens. It’s embarrassing to NOT tell and it’s how they spread. Don’t waste your time trying to do anything your self call professionals. I would make that person pay & to make them feel like shit for not saying anything . Good luck …

If it’s in food it’s NOT bed bugs. It’s weevils.

If they are in the food and that isn’t a typo it isn’t bed bugs

If it is they are very hard to rid and you should call in a professional

I just went through this!! If you can get a hotel room for a couple days you can do a heat treatment one day and then set bombs the next day!! It did amazing!! Just keep up on it afterwards by vacuuming everything and cleaning the vacuum after!! I covered all my windows and doors with plastic and left it on for the whole 2 days!! You need to heat your house up to at least 130° for 1 day and then immediately set as many bedbug and flea bombs off as you can the next day!!! The heat treatment only calls for 90 mins but i let it go for a whole night. I think it was like 16 hours. The bombs only call for 2 hours but i did the same thing with them!! It’s been just over a week and i haven’t had a bite on me since!! I live in a trailer and used 4 space heaters!!
I also used the bedbug and flea powder for all the baseboards and little nooks and crannies all around the inside of the house!! I also put this stuff called Seven Dust all under my trailer and all over my yard afterwards!!

I used a spray bottle with one part water, one part the strongest rubbing alcohol, and a few drops of dawn dish soap and sprayed the eff out of everything. If you have access to a steam cleaner the hotter the better. Luckily I was able to catch the little critters before they completely infested my house and unfortunately we did have to settle for throwing away our mattress and replacing it just to be on the safe side. But the water/alcohol mixture worked like a charm for us. I hope you get it taken care of soon!

Don’t call a professional! They are expensive as all get out and not worth it half the time… Wash EVERYTHING in HOT HOT water and dry it on the hottest setting then bag it up. Vacuum everything else you can as much as you can and buy this and a pump like you would use for weeds. It doesn’t take alot. You’ll have to do it multiple times but it works!

Ditramashius earth. Forgive my spelling… it’s a food grade powder sold super cheap at like Atwood’s or feed stores. It’s messy but it will work

  1. Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade powder. PUT IT EVERYWHERE. It is safe for pets and people. (It’s actually a calcium supplement for small animals, dogs, and horses). It dehydrates them and is also good for killing spiders, roaches, and other insects.

  2. Wash everything in the hottest water you can and put everything in the dryer on the hottest setting for at least an hour.

  3. Find all of the crevices they hang out in on furniture and spray the bugs directly with Ortho bed bug spray and then reapply the powder.

The powder has to be thick not just a dusting. Get it deep inside of couches and chairs. Put it along every wall in every room. Dust the entire carpet. After washing clothes do not hang them up or put them in drawers, immediately seal them in a plastic bag. I put our clothes into the bags and then into separate Rubbermaid containers for each person.

We bought a couch from a thrift store that came with free bed bugs. It took at least a month of diligently searching and reapplying the spray letting it dry and putting the powder everywhere.

I just noticed you said they are in the food. I don’t think bed bugs live in the food. Bed bugs eat people.

Good luck❤️

Buy this. Do it every week every room turn over furniture spray around entire room wash and dry all bedding every week vaccum and I promise this will get rid of it!!!

You definitely need an exterminator bc it took us over 3 yrs to get rid of the infestation our one tenant caused us in our apartment home. We used home bug killers but they were not long term and only affected the ones we saw. Two exterminators later we finally were able to rid ourselves of them. They’re difficult to get rid of so you have to be diligent. Heat kills them an their eggs but must be at a specific temperature for a certain amount of time to do the job.

Your child’s food has them? Are you sure they’re not weevils?

Ive got them as well. I’ve been using this and it seems to work really well

If bugs are in yoir food chances arw its cock roaches not bed bugs

Talstar and heat and rubbing alcohol

Inexpensive way is to spray alcohol on EVERYTHING in EVERY crevis multiple times a day and vacuum in the areas multiple times a day most likely see them in corners or behind you’re baseboards, under bed sheets and along the seem of the mattresses, door frames, in thr couches ans dear lord if you have carpet you might as well rip that crap up. I know someone that has had them and they had to practically remodel to get rid of them. Re did all the floors ans baseboards and put protective covering on mattresses. It’s a long process. An exterminator may be able to do it quicker but spraying alcohol ans vacuuming constantly will do it too. Just takes time. Months…

Call a professional, follow all their instructions to a t and you should get rid of them

When I had this issue I had to wash all clothing and bedding and pillows and pull all furniture from the walls and put everything that was in my closets in the middle of each room and have an exterminator come in and spray
