How to motivate kids in sports?

Hormones. I expect his mind is on other things. Introduce to other things, basket ball?! music (guitar/drums?) art etc. He will play soccer again if he wants to.

Find out why heā€™s lost interest.

They have to want it. Not you mom or dad.

Nothingā€¦very simple answerā€¦nothing

Tell them they donā€™t know how too. OH YEAH. LOL

If his lost his passion then thereā€™s nothing you can do. My son is an amazing athlete. So good he can run 100m in under 11 sec without training for years. But he lost his passion and when you loose that, then you have nothing left because itā€™s what drives you.

Let him make his own choices. Maybe he needs a break.

He needs to play Basketball with his height at 13 years old!!! Maybe both!!!

He might not want to play anymoreā€¦ It should be his decision, heā€™s the one on the field not you or his fatherā€¦

Stop trying to live vicariously through your child. If heā€™s no longer interested leave him alone to pursue things that interest him.

Talk to him and actually listen to what he says. Donā€™t force him into something because you think itā€™s a good idea.

Thereā€™s no blanket answerā€¦I know as a teen, I never needed any extra motivation. Growing up with 3 older brothers/step brothers helped, gave me a huge competitive streak.Does he really have a passion for football? Does he watch it too? Does he look forward to training sessions/games? Try and observe him and how he behaves/reacts not just around football, talk to him about other sports/interests too. You might find he has a hidden love for something else. But above all else, support and encourage HIS choice. Donā€™t force it. Encourage him to remain active and healthy, but donā€™t push him to one thing over another

Heā€™s 13! Let him be 13, seriously, pretty sure heā€™s a bit more occupied with some thing smaller than a football at the momentā€¦ just let the kid enjoy being a kid for a lil while, damn!

My daughter LOVED volleyball and played her 7, 8, 9 and 10th years in school then a new coach ruined it all for her. She was a complete B and finally my girl couldnā€™t take it anymore and quit just when she made varsity. It was so sad.
