So guys… What’s your tricks into getting your little one to potty train??? My daughter is 17months old and when at home she likes to not have a nappy on but I keep missing her when she’s weeing as she seems to hide and do it. She will sit on the potty no problem but she don’t quite get there when she needs a wee??? Help…
The first time she does it make a huge deal. I used M&Ms as a reward. Every time my kids went they got a few M&Ms
She’s still a little young so don’t push it or fret!
Each time you go take her along and sit her on her potty near yours
I noticed with my son that he struggles to sit still. If he sits a while then eventually his bladder lets go. Give her something to keep her on the toilet. Like a book or a toy or tv
Instead of waiting for her to go make it a point to take her every 30 mins or even hour. Have her stay until she pottys then have a party and reward her with something small.
Keep her naked. Yes you will be cleaning up pee at first but they will get used to the feeling after a few days and should start trying to make it to the potty before it’s too late
We put the training potty in the living room. As she became proficient we moved it into the bathroom.
My daughter was 2, I told her she pee pee in potty and not panties. I put big girl panties on her and every time she peed in her panties she got a whoopin and I sat her on the potty for 2 minutes and told her you pee pee in potty. Both my girls were potty trained completely in 2 weeks or less. Of course when they went to the potty they got rewarded with candy or a toy.
17 months may just be a little to young
No spanking. Has to learn don’t need spanked
She to little to understand her body is about to pee
She’s probably not ready.
She might be to young to understand the feeling at that age the recommended age to start is around 2. Or when they start telling you they need to go or hiding when going or taking diapers off ect.,. Don’t spank over the potty
Don’t push it, she will do it when she is ready.
Wait till she’s 2. She isn’t ready at only 17 months
She’s a little young to fully train right now. However, get her a potty seat and have her come in with you every time you go. Don’t push her on this but encourage her to just sit on her potty while you go potty on yours. Give her a book and make it a relaxed time. Have her wash her hands when you wash yours too so that part is established. Be patient, she will catch on and eventually go like a big girl. Make sure you let her pick out some big girl panties when she’s showing interest in going. Skip pull ups they only extend the diaper phase. Good luck!
Put her on the potty to try every 15-30min. And when she goes, give her a sticker/snack as a reward. I kept my daughter in underwear. So if she had an accident she would notice it better then with a pullup on. I also had her kiddie potty in the living room first few days so she could get to it faster and just changed it out right after she used it. I wouldn’t stress too much at 17 months old for her to get it right away, but it’s a start. And introducing it is a good thing. Every child is different. Just be patient.
