What can I do to prevent carpet burns while my baby is learning to crawl?

There are cute little leg warmers you can get them that have knee pads. They are good for hard floors too

You can try and cut tight fitted socks and pull up around their knees.

You can buy pads for baby knees look them up

I used to put mine in tights.
