My daughter is the same. Chest infection every month. Coughing and wheezing at night is awful. Tried inhalers and steroids, breathing tests and always been on antihistamines and nothing works apart from antibiotics every month. Now having chest x ray today. Hope she gets better soon x

Try to elevate your childs head it could be post nasal drip irritating the throat or even if you have a family history of acid reflux or Gerd.

Dealing with same thing. He’s now on an inhaler and he has a breathing test in two months to see how the inhaler is working thinking it’s asthma and allergies.

Have them lay on their side, laying on our backs makes it worse (have had croup my whole life)

Acid reflux
Sleep apnea
Allergies
Post nasal drip
Dust
Food allergies
Asthma

Take her to the doctor to rule out issues because there’s so many different reasons for coughing at nighttime.

Age?
If older than one year… a drink with Honey in it
(Weak tea [cooled to lukewarm] with honey and lemon)
Pineapple or juice of

My children are grown…
Back in the day I was able to give them two over-the-counter medicines and they did not end up with tubes or in the Hospital.
Both turned out to be asthmatics….

I would guess allergies around this time of year if it’s been going on consistently. try a humidifier and maybe some allergy meds

Has she got any allergies or something that’s triggering her in her room at night?

Bronchitis due to allergies too hot in the house

My doctor told me to raise the head of the bed a couple of inches

Post nasal drip, send the throat relaxing when they lay down, allergies in the bedroom. Probably the pillowcase? A humidifier may help

Put a humidifier in her room

Get non allergy pillows and cases

Try allergen bedding, a humidifier helped my friends child. Try the radiator with a cup of water on top if no humidifier.

Allergies? Dust mites?
Food allergies?

Oh yes , struggled with this for years. Allergies. Nasal drip. We did saline nose flush allergy med and humidifier. He would cough so hard he would throw up. Finally we took him to ear nose and throat doc. His adnoides were so large they were blocking his nasal passages. Got them removed and he improved 90%

My 5 year old does this pretty much all of allergy season. It’s post nasal drip. We give him and extra pillow to help keep his head elevated and so long as he doesn’t throw it off the bed, it helps the most. We also do benedryl when his symptoms are noticeable before bed. He can’t have cough medicine, but when it sounds like his throat is just really scratchy, we give him a teaspoon of straight honey right before he lays down

I have asthma that gets triggered by exposure to allergens. My first symptom is coughing and it’s usually worse at night.
I was my bed linens often and have to take allergy medicine before bed during high pollen seasons.
My son has a stuffed shark he has loved since a toddler. It can’t be in the bed with him because something about it triggers allergic reaction and his nose starts running thus making him cough because it’s draining in to his lungs.

When I was a kid I was the SAME. Got diagnosed with allergy induced asthma as an adult.

it could be allergies, but it could also be asthma. I would see an allergist to rule out asthma

She could have asthma. I would make an appointment with the doctor and add a humidifier in her room. Allergies are also very common this time of year.

Try running a cool mist humidifier at night? My son has allergies that seem to bother him most at night. He has to take Claritin and Benadryl so I give it to him at night and that helps. He was on Zyrtec. Nothing fully helps him but the combo he’s on now has helped the most.

My first thought was allergies. Maybe they need an inhaler

Benadryl !!! That what I was told for my son’s allergies and coughs !!

Fold a blanket, put it under the mattress at the head to keep it elevated. Air purifier, possible mold issue in the room, put mattress and pillow in an allergy zipper case.

Coughing at night can be an indicator of asthma.

Vicks and socks is the only think that worked for my kids. 2 spoons of honey and lemon mixed together before bed if they’re old enough.

Zarbees honey if they are older than 1 year old.

I have my kiddos eat two marshmallows I don’t know why, but it helps

Vicks on feet with sock and chest. Humidifier in room.

Put Vicks on feet then put socks on

Let them take water in their room and cough drops.
