My four month old was at the doctor for a cough about 2 weeks ago now for a cough and he said it was bronchitis and put her on azithromycin. At first it helped and then by the end of it her cough was coming right back. We have another appointment Monday but does anyone have any suggestions on how to help this poor baby or what they could put her on next to kick it.
That antibiotic is crap.
Humidifier definitely
Ask the doc to do a sputum test they can have the lab find out exactly what big they need to treat.
Vapor baby wash might also help. I don’t want to scare you but our grandson had the whopping cough at a month old so make them check for that. They were treating him for acid reflux and he just kept getting worse and we were sent to Jackson Mississippi and treated for it down there, he got a lot better after that. Praying for your baby.
Use liquid Vick in a humidifier all night
The thing about z packs is they work like a week after you finish the medicine I have really bad bronchitis couple times a year my cough is usually caused my the mucus in my chest comeing back up
I’ve had to take musinex and the z pack to clear everything up
A humidifier with vicks is great to help baby breathe and break up congestion. I’d also take some Zarbee’s brand congestion rub and rub it on baby’s chest and feet and put socks on baby for the night. Zarbee’s also has an all natural cough syrup for babies! Another thing you can try is turning the shower on as hot as it’ll go and letting the bathroom steam up. Bring baby into the steamy bathroom. That’ll help loosen congestion too. Sleeping at an incline can help too as well as constantly using a boogie sucker to keep nose clear so baby can breathe! Good luck, I hope baby is feeling better soon!
Vicks on the feet is a life saver
Humidifier. But hopefully the dr checked for whooping cough. It’s been going around everywhere.
Make sure there is no one smoking in thr house
Vicks and humidifier.
Have the baby sleep with a humidifier and give her a warm bath or steam up your bathroom and let her sit in it for a while then hold her in front of the freezer for a bit. It’s what the dr always told us to do for croup. Helps open up their airways.
Dr. Zarbees has some really great cough medicine all organic and natural I use
On my little one. It’s meant for infants
Put a bowl of warm water in the microwave and get it hot not boiling then sit it on the table with you holding him place a blanket over you both the steam will help basically a humidifier
Humidifier with peppermint or eucalyptus drops in it. My son had and still has (he’s 10) this issue. They FINALLY figured out its allergies a couple years ago. When his cough starts we use the nebulizer on him and his cough is gone within 3 treatments
Bronchitis with or without antibiotics the cough takes about 2 weeks to resove.
Demand a chest X-ray. Rule out pneumonia with your doctor before going forward with anything else.
My daughter was 2 months old and it started with a cold, turned into bronchitis, then bronchiolitis, and ended up in the hospital. Antibiotics don’t always help that’s for sure. However, zarbees without honey helps with the cough and getting the gunk out, there is a zarbees chest rub that isn’t Vick’s that helps too. A humidifier and an air cleaner helps too!
Prop up the crib mattress and have baby sleep on incline
My son had bronchiolitis when he was about that age also. I ended up having to do breathing treatments with albuterol every 2 hours for a few days, then every 4 hours for the rest of the week.
I did notice that until he was around 6 years old that every time he got a cold or any virus it would seem to settle in his chest and give him trouble breathing. It almost seemed like asthma but only affected him when he was sick. He grew out of it but I still watch his breathing now at 13 years old just to make sure.
Have your little one checked for black mold this just happened to me !! I couldn’t get over a what I believed and my doctor believed to be a cold … He tested me and I have never moved so fast in my life !! We diddntt know but we had leaking windows through out the whole house !!
Humidifier at night and breathing treatments every 4 hours
Vicks! I have a vapor rub for children 3 months and up it’s called Maddie’s. It’s a lot more gentle for babies, and yes, I put it on my daughter before she was 3 months. Just a little on the bottom of their feet or a little on the chest, but never the face or hands!
Now, i hate to sound like an ass, but are you sure it is a real cough? My daughter also started fake coughing around 2 or 3 months for attention, and again around 5 months just because she could.
Someone said honey. NEVER USE HONEY ON A CHIKD YOUNGER THEN A YEAR OLD
Baby vicks on the feet. Sit in the bathroom with the door closed, fan off and hot shower running for a steam treatment a few times a day and especially before bed.
Zarbees infant chest rub helps a ton I use it for my 4 month old
