How to treat mastitis?

Suggestions for blocked ducts/mastitis??! Lactation consultant said I have mastitis. I’m on antibiotics and was suggested to also take lecithin. I’ve been on antibiotics for 4 days and the lecithin just today… The pain is unbearable. Any suggestions to help??

Take a comb and jump in a warm shower. Take the comb and brush down on the mass towards your nipple.

Have baby nurse, and a hot shower and milk yourself. It hurts really bad, but you will get relief if you can unblock your ducts

Worst pain ever I’m so sorry. Hand Express as often as possible

Don’t do cabbage leaves… they will dry you up

Dangle nurse.
Pump
Hot cloth.
Warm shower
Point babes chin to the clog and allow to nurse, it may help pulling it out
Hand massages
Hand expressing.
Vibrator or vibrating toothbrush.
I had mastitis 13x with my third.
I’ve done it all lol

Mine were 4 times their normal size (I’m a dd) and I had to fill the tub up with the hottest water you can stand and kneel into the tub, let them soak for about 10 minutes and stand up and take a hot shower. I had almost instant relief

If you have a silicone hand pump you can fill it with hot water (as hot as you can stand) and some Epsom salt. Suction it on making sure that your nipple is in the water mixture and massage downward towards the nipple. It was literally the ONLY thing that helped me!

I had to suck my own breast to get it out due to my son couldn’t suction so I pumped and his father wouldn’t suck it for me… Sounds gross and almost impossible but if you can somehow reach or you have a syringe big enough to fit around your nipple, then all you need is enough suction to get the blockage moving and once you can get it flowing, you will feel better instantly. If you must use a syringe, just cut the top off, place over nipple and pull the plunge back. May take a few trys but it will work.

Nurse. Or if they’re willing have your SO get it out.

Dangle feed the baby.

I’ve heard both having baby nurse and pumping will help a great deal

Shoot they never even gave me antibiotics. I just pumped to get rid of it.

I knew a lady who had this and she had to use an electric pump to help it.

Try to hand express while in a very warm shower and keep nursing use warm clothes while you nurse.

Never had masttis but I have had a clogged duct. Hurt so bad. But what I did was feed on that side first and massage the lumps out as best I could and then take a hot bath and massage while hand expressing. Then kept a cold pack on it for a bit. It took like 3 day but it finally worked itself out.

Very long and warm showers and lots of pumping

Warm wet washcloth, heating pad, on low over it for no more than 20 minutes. Then ice pack for 20. Might try a small cabbage leaf directly over the area for a little bit. Don’t leave it on, it can dry you up too much.

I feel sick just thinking about mastitis…feed baby as often as you can, massage and express often, and hot and cold alternate. Don’t sleep on your tummy or wear a bra and rest.
