How to wean from nighttime feeding?

I was wondering if you had any tips for weaning from night feeding at 9 months(his dr okayed it) when the baby sleeps in the same bed as the parents. we don’t want to change too much at once and put him in his bed with no boob to comfort him. I have epilepsy and lack of sleep brings on my seizures so cry it out is not a thing we believe in or can reasonably do…

Breastfed babies can smell your milk so he may want to eat if he’s sleeping near you

I have seizures also and refuse to let my son sleep with me for fear i could hurt him if I have seizure in my sleep i would transition him to a crib during nap time then start at night time once he used to being in crib he will sleep longer at night

I am weaning my daughter and keep water or very weak chamomile tea close by at night. Being able to offer her something else to suck and drink has been absolutely essential for us. Plus, I think sometimes she’s just thirsty. If she refused to drink or I couldn’t settle her any other way, I’d give her the boob. We’re down to one night feeding but it’s been a very gradual process.

Can you nurse then put in bed when asleep. A bed by you? Seizures could be detrimental with a babe in bed with you. Pacifier?

maybe sleep topless ? thats what i do with my son. his bed is also pushed up against ours.

thank you for your advice everyone. I’ve had seizures since I was six and have never(even unmedicated) had one in my sleep. He refuses a pacifier I have never tried giving him any water so after we get him to napping in his crib I’ll try that.

Have daddy tend to him when he wakes up at night. He doesn’t have milk to give so baby will go back to sleep.

Gradually start taking it from him at night like take a few minutes off at a time at each feeding

You can try putting a strong smell on your top to disguise yours and your milk smell…if you can get some advice from a knowledgeable person you could try essential oils, but you need to make sure they are safe for your baby first as they are very powerful, otherwise sometimes just using a different washing powder/conditioner for your night clothes can be enough to change the smell and reduce night time feedings :grinning: good luck xx:heart:

Breaking the co sleeping is one of the hardest things in the world to do. One things parents should NEVER do. Plus it is much too dangerous
