I am 24 weeks pregnant and have had really bad back pain all day: advice?

Hey, could I have a private post please, I’m 24 weeks pregnant and have had really bad lower backache all day( I do suffer from spd, but this pain is worse than what I normally have)? Also, over the last few hours have been having tightenings that are uncomfortable but not painful. Has anyone experienced this before? If so is it anything to worry about?

Definately phone and get checked by midwife x they may monitor u x

I had miserable back pain through my entire pregnancy. Wasn’t much I could do about it other than see a chiropractor and massage therapist that specialize in pregnancy. As for the tightening, it may be from several things. Could be Braxton Hicks, could be ligaments adjusting, etc. If it concerns you, then your best bet is to call your midwife or ob and get checked out. They can also make suggestions for the pain.

Please call your doctor

Mom x 4 Pro tip, take 2 tennis balls and put them in a tube sock. Put the sock on your lower back with the balls on each side of your spine. You can use this sitting in a chair or laying down, but the counter pressure from the tennis balls helps alleviate some of the pain. You can adjust the balls to where you want them.

Consult your dr…probably just growing pains!!!

Try sleeping with a pillow between your legs, it helped
me a lot.

I suffer from lower back pain, and with my second pregnancy it was awful. Doc suggested a gym ball for me to sit on. Like the ones you would use for pilates. I used to sit on that and roll my hips around while watching tv. Really helped, to the point that I still used it all the time. Ask your doc!

Call the nurse at your OB office but for me I had the same thing with all 4 of my pregnancies. The cramping was just the ligaments stretching and for some reason it was worse and sooner with each pregnancy. I have spinal stenosis, sciatic and deteriorating disk disease so my back is always sore but sleep with a pillow between your knees use 2 or buy a body or pregnancy pillow. I just use 2 regular firm pillows 1 to kind of rest under my belly and 1 between my legs specially as your belly gets bigger

I would suggest calling you obgyn or midwife and ask their advice. It is probably nothing serious but its always better to be safe than sorry in these situations. In the mean time maybe try laying down on your left side and drink so water.

If this isn’t normal for you, get checked to make sure you’re not in labor.

You need to see your Dr. You can’t get good advice from a Facebook post.

Get some advice love from 111 x

That sounds like back labor. Call ur dr.

Please go to urgent care or the ER. You may be going into premature labor. The same happened to me with my first baby. They were able to stop it and I was in bed rest the remainder of my pregnancy.

Braxton hicks maybe? I’d get seen.

Always go to the doctors if your worried never worth trusting anyone on Facebook when it comes to your baby, hope everything is okay but better to be safe

Sounds like contractions and back labor. Go get checked. They might be able to stop it or they will just say its nothing and you will go get a better nights sleep knowing the baby is ok.

Go to doctor Do not use heating pad I was a triage nurse also worked maternity
Monitor baby’s movement prior to waiting for their call back

Drink like 32 ozs of water I would chug it and then give it an hour and if not relief call your nurses line

This is a good sign that you’re probably going to have back labor when the time is right. 24 weeks is a good time for Braxton-Hicks to kick in as well. Drink plenty of water, it will help ease the B-H. Laying flat on the floor with my legs elevated helped tremendously with my lower back pain. (Your legs need to be bent at the knee, kinda like a 90 degree angle)…always feel free to consult your doctor if things don’t ease off. Hope this helps☺️

Some women carry low and feel the pressure in their lower back. I’ve had lower back issues ever since I’ve had my two kids. It was really bad when I was pregnant with my second. If you are really worried about it see your doctor. Everyone’s pregnancy is obviously different. Go and check it out if you’re worried. And appreciate all advice that you get. Take care and best wishes.

I had really bad back pain…I was pretty much told to just deal with it.

I’m 24 weeks, I have back pain a lot. I think it just comes with pregnancy, I put a hot water bottle on the bottom of my back and it eases then I’m alright for a little while. I’ve never been worried myself as my bumps quite big and baby tends to sit on my nerve. but if your feeling it tightening etc your better going getting it checked out hun x

Drink 2 large glasses of water and lay down, put your feet up. If contractions become more uncomfortable and closer together, contact your OBGYN! This from a Labor and Delivery nurse!

I have been the same way. I use a heating pad that seems to help. I have also been seeing the chiropractor and that’s been helping also!

I think back pain just comes with pregnancy.
Use a heat pack and rest.

I would see the Dr. This happened to me around 34 weeks with my 4th, didnt seem like labour, didnt feel like labour, but it was in fact labour. Just to be sure see your Dr

Drink water, stay hydrated. If it continues say over an hr or 2 contact your doctor.

Go see your Primary Care and the go see a Chiropractor who works with pregnant women.

braxton hicks. but drink a lot of water. if the contractions are coming 2-3 mins apart then go to the hospital.

I did this my whole pregnancy, called the dr on several occasions, he would always ask “what have you been DOING” the answer was invariably something like cleaning the house, painting walls, doing yard work…I got alot of rolled eyes and telling me “you’re pregnant, quit doing that!”. But in all seriousness, if it doesn’t stop after rest and hydration, call your Dr. You know ur body best!

what i do is a heating thingy. also i bought a massage thingy and i turn in on and leave it there for awhile. if u have a good partner then have them give u rubs.

NICU nurse here-go to the doctor. You need to be checked out as a precaution.

CALL YOUR DR OR GO TO ER ! be safe :heart::+1::+1:

I invested in some “kt tape” to help lift up my belly a bit on each side. …helped soooo much !! … I work in a nursing home, and this tape made such a difference. I was almost in tears before it

Sciatica, perhaps? I had it in my second pregnancy, I had to sleep with a pillow in between my legs to balance everything out. I would wake up in the night with intense lower back pain. It’s nothing dangerous, just very uncomfortable.

If in doubt, call your MD or get yourself checked out, rather than speculate. To be on the safe side.

When in doubt, get checked out.
At the very least, call and talk to your doctor or a nurse in the labor and delivery unit.
This could be nothing to worry about, could be preterm labor, could be several other things normal and not normal.

Has she tried a chiropractor? I had SPD with my daughter and the chiropractor was the only thing that kept me able to walk.

Yes this hit me at 30 weeks . It was so bad I could barely stand up straight . The pain was so bad in my lower back. All my doctor said was that I was sitting down too much . Putting too much pressure on my tail bone and those nerves in my lower back. Getting a prenatal massage helped a LOT and walking more helped. Stay active. Stand as long as you can. Lay on your side with a pillow between your legs . And apply heat pads to your back to relax those muscles and nerves .

I had to be on crutches with spd , I would fall to my knees getting out of bed from pain . I went to see a pelvic specialties chiropractor and I was able to walk again

Sounds similar to when i went into premature labour. They gave me medication to stop it and steroids for bub and he was still born two weeks later at 36 weeks. Always best to call the hospital if you don’t have a midwife yet

The tightening sound like braxton hicks which could also explain the lower back ache, but if you’re worried about anything at all then go get checked over for reassurance x

Get on your hands and knees to relieve pressure off your back. Might want to give your provider a call if the tightening continues.

Sounds like labor to be honest I would call a triage nurse n talk to them.

Chiropractor and massage

Sounds like Braxton hicks. But I would call Dr. I worked in nicu and labor and delivery and had 5 kids 3 were preemies. Call Dr if hasn’t gone away. That’s what I told my daughter when had preterm labor with grandson.

I’m a nurse the righting along with the pain could be many things including Braxton Hick or even pre term labor. Call your doctor

sounds like my entire 2/3 trimester but if your worried go in. they care about you and will not be bothered to check it out

Yes I had a chiro for 3 times a week

Get checked out by your dr.

Get in touch with hospital you could be going into prem labour you might be asked to go in if it’s just braxton hicks then great but always best to be checked

Go check a doctor the tightening don’t sound good

I thought I was in labor because the pain was so bad. Went to lnd and I had a uti

I think the best advice would be to speak to a doctor to make sure everything is fine. If things get any worse and U are getting tightening along ur belly with the back pain I would get to hospital better to be safe then sorry

I would make an appointment with the gp or head over to your maternity hospital as it could be something like a uti. Best of luck
