Wear masks and gloves and wash your hands as much as possible. :mask: :mask:

I don’t have much advice. But I worked in a housekeeping department for 8 years in an assisted living facility. I had to leave due to my own personal health. The residents became apart of me in alot of ways. I miss them dearly. They became apart of my day and apart of my life in a way. They taught me things and made me see things in a different way. Patience understanding and compassion is going to be needed. I know it’s just housekeeping and cleaning but you will be in direct contact with the residents daily and you will become apart of their day. Their mental capacities will all be different. How you interact with them is important. They may be mean, confused, happy, sad. It really varies. I always greeted them with happiness and kindness no matter how I was feeling. It didn’t matter, they mattered. My mission was to make their day brighter. Some don’t have visitors or families or even understand why they are where they are. You will also possibly need a cast iron stomach . I don’t know what kind of place you are going to but there will probably be some messes that will make you want to vomit or scream even. Just hang in there and breath. It will be ok and it will get easier. Good luck to you and your new job.

What is making you nervous ?

These residents will quickly become like family. So be kind and understanding even on your toughest days. Wash hands and sanitize. Remember alcohol based santizer only works about 5 times before you need to use actual hot water and soap.

Treat them like family, smiling and asking how they are makes their day. Don’t have that, that’s not my job attitude.Team work will go along way. Families notice everything, bathrooms are the biggest things. Around the toilet at the base and toward the back. Dust everything that you’re able to, they will check.
