I am pregnant but baby is no where to be found: Help!

I found out I was pregnant may 7th. Had all the symptoms. they slowly went away and I thought something was wrong. I went to the doctor and they called it a natural miscarriage with my HCG now barely registering at a whopping 3.7 on May 21 I began to “bleed” and I use that term lightly here because it wasn’t ever red except for an hour? It was brown with stringy clots for 8 days. Not super heavy but not light either. On June 10 because my belly was still growing I went to take a pregnancy test even though I knew it would be negative right because even if I got pregnant again immediately it wouldn’t have shown. Well. I had a super strong positive. Not questionable. Showed up immediately. And I got concerned about an ectopic pregnancy because my husband has been out of town since June 5th working on the road. After labs my HCG is at as of May 13 was 7,000! They sent me for an ultrasound immediately and 1 hospital said the baby was in my ovary. Or just at the top of my tube. So I get transferred to another hospital because our hospital doesn’t have a L&D. I get to the hospital where my OB is at and he orders another scan to be absolutely sure. Yay for my doctor. This second scan showed NOTHING. I mean nothing. My uterus. My ovary’s. My tubes. I mean there was nothing anywhere. So they’ve diagnosed me with a pregnancy of unknown location. Being that my HCG levels are 7,000 and change he’s concerned I have a pregnancy in my abdomen somewhere. But he’s not sure just suspicious because there wasn’t anything to be found on my trans abdominal ultrasound nor my trans vaginal ultrasound. He told me he really doesn’t see this turning into a viable pregnancy. Weeks upon weeks have passed. He could’ve taken me up to surgery and scoped around and see if he could’ve seen anything but he didn’t want to jump the gun and do all that to again find nothing. So he has me going tomorrow for another scan to see if they can locate the pregnancy after waiting another day. So my question is. Is there ANYONE at all with a similar experience. I mean anything that could be similar in any way. Because I don’t know what to think. I’m just a ball of anxiety because I have 2 kids and I don’t want anything to rupture and not be able to raise my kids that I do have that are wonderful balls of joy. I have 2. My youngest is 7 months and my oldest is about to be 5. I have no idea what’s happened. But I know my HCG is 7,000 right now and climbing but the baby is nowhere to be found in my reproductive area. Any similar expierence? Anyone???

Could it be what they consider a chemical pregnancy where you don’t ever truly form a baby but your body believes it to be pregnant. A blighted ovum? Have them mentioned that possibility. I don’t if your HCG would continue to grow at that point! I hope you get answers soon!

Pregnancies outside any reproductive organ can happen and are DANGEROUS. The placenta adheres to an abdominal organ, the abdominal wall or others areas and endangers the mom’s life. Make them look until they find it.

Maybe you had a miscarriage then got pregnant again right after?

You could have been carrying twins? Have them do CT scan with dye. You could have miscarried one baby and other in tube.

Mine climbed then went back down when I had a miscarriage. Also you can have hcg levels with medical conditions. Get checked for fibroids and cancer

Channon Rose on YouTube experienced this and she had to have chemo treatments to terminate the pregnancy due to not being able to locate the egg

False positives can be an indicator of another condition

It’s mental, did you want to get pregnant…a woman can mentally will herself to show signs of pregnancy, and not be pregnant… the mind is a powerful thing.

I do a lot of reading, particularly on medical things… and I remember coming across something that actually can do this to women… now please understand, this is not a diagnosis, it is a possibility as to why your body would do this. And I hope that it’s not accurate.:woozy_face: … but there are certain types of cancers that will do this. One of which is very rare… but it will absolutely give symptoms of pregnancy and even go as far as to give positive pregnancy tests, of any form. Please research this and seek more medical attention.

OMG !!! How terrible!! I wish I could share something comforting. Best Wishes

This sounds like an ectopic ( I’ve had 3) and it really needs to be resolved ASAP. If they cannot find baby in your uterus, then it is most likely ectopic, especially with an HCG level that high. You need to be treated with methotrexate, or taken into surgery asap…try another Dr or hospital.

Sounds like what i had was a bleated ovum the baby didnt grow i had placenta, cord, every symptom, just at end of cord was a “cluster” that never grew

Prayers! My sister had an embryo implant outside her uterus. She was devastated. She wanted a baby so badly but it wasn’t viable. They gave her some type of shot to make her body absorb it or something. Plz keep us posted

Find a better hospital

I would guess your body is still thinking your pregnant and you’re not. Idk the term for it. I’m sorry for your loss last month

Scary…I hope they get it figured out!

I had a positive test. I went to the obg , and few days after I bled. He did a vaginal ultrasound and said the baby didn’t sticked to the uterus, so was a miscarriage. Twice.:cry:

Wow! I hope you are okay. What a emotional rollercoaster

I have a misplaced pregnancy years ago. My levels would go up every month and then drop and I would bleed… stringy and clots. This went on for 10 months and they couldn’t find anything on any scans. They decided to do a endometrial biopsy and my Fallopian tube exploded. Had a lot of blood in my stomach when they got me to the hospital to scan and see what was going on. I now have bad GI issues that never cleared up and we are still trying to figure out why. It’s the worst. But that was my experience with something similar.

I had the same situation and it was in fact inside my ovary, but they couldn’t see it till they did a d&c and a scope .

My daughter had a positive pregnancy test 1 1/2 month ago they told her body would be rid of it No bleeding no nothing b test still say positive but faint ultrasound showed no baby in uterus she has an extensive ultrasound n work up on Friday. Best of luck to you

With levels of 7k, something should be visible somewhere. I would push for an answer. Personally, I would push for methotrexate. An ectopic pregnancy can be a life-threatening emergency.

Maybe you did miscarry and got pregnant again right after and that is why your levels are high and you are getting a positive test but way too early to see anything in the uterus… food for thought?

Could be in the tube

I mean this with no disrespect to anyone, because it is hard to understand if you haven’t been there but PLEASE do not listen to some of these women , not all but some are giving very poor and downright dangerous advice. If your HCG is rising, baby is somewhere and if you cannot see baby in your uterus with an HCG of 7,000 + , it is most likely ectopic ( pregnancy of unknown location) and will eventually rupture. Pls be proactive with your health and seek a
different Drs opinion or emergency room. If you have any shoulder tip pain or rectal pressure like you need to use the bathroom, seek Immediate help at the hospital or call 911 if you cannot get there. If hcg is still rising , and nothing is seen on ultrasound it is not a miscarriage or a phantom pregnancy.

They never found my 3 ectopics on ultrasound…ever , even with high hcg and many transvaginal ultrasounds… even at 8 weeks along but the babies were in fact ectopic. They often aren’t found until too late. Sometimes it’s just really hard to see when they are small. I don’t want to scare you…I just do not want you to sit home thinking that everything is okay and then you’re alone and rupture with two kids at home.

Could have attached outside the uterine wall. They need to scan your whole abdomen just in case….

I just went through one yesterday…apparently my “implantation” bleeding was so light and my “old discharge” was my baby slowly going away. Had a full hush of blood yesterday and they found nothing…was 5 weeks pregnant, found out May 8th.

Prayers sent yer way

Maybe it’s a Molar Pregnancy.

This happened to me several years ago. Turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. Took several ultrasounds and tons of blood work to diagnose.

Taking a test June 10th and having it positive, but then you said it couldn’t be because your husband has been gone since June 5th? Pregnancy doesn’t happen in just a few days. It takes a minimum of 2 weeks from ovulation/sex to actually become pregnant. So you very well could have gotten pregnant again at the end of May, but may be too early for ultrasound to show anything. If you have gotten pregnant at the end of May, it would definitely be early for an ultrasound to pick something up.

I have had 2 molars, this doesn’t seem like one.

From someone who has struggled with fertility issues for years, I’ve had 2 molar pregnancies & 7 other miscarriages, with 1 living child, I recommend you have another scan done. Full body if need be. Request to continue to have your hormones checked for 12 months. You could have had a chemical pregnancy, that your hormones had a terrible reaction to.

I had that happen after miscarriage #4.

I had an ectopic pregnancy that was misdiagnosed until Fallopian tube ruptured. I had emergency surgery and blood transfusion. Lost an ovary at age 19. I had multiple scans too. I was found on my apartment bathroom floor and almost died. Ectopic rupture is dangerous, make them figure it out.

You need a pet scan. Rising hcg levels can also be an indication of tumor growth.

Something similar happened with my youngest. Found out later she was a twin. The bleeding I had was the loss of her twin. My dr wanted to do a D&C because there was no embryo in the gestational sac and I refused. 3 weeks later they found a heartbeat and she is now 7yo!

No but don’t give up going to the doctors. Make them find out what’s going on.

I would definitely go to the hospital. It’s probably ectopic and they just can’t see it yet. It not uncommon with ectopic pregnancy’s to not be able to see it. Please get another doctor and please go to the ER. I don’t want you to be at home with your kids and have something rupture. If they catch the ectopic pregnancy before it ruptures they can give you a shot if methotrexate. That usually works, if not surgery. But surgery BEFORE it ruptures is much better than AFTER it ruptures. Good luck to you :heart:

My ectopic was like this. They couldn’t find the baby, roughly around 8 weeks and I had a ruptured fallopian tube. Lost the tube and the baby. I’d keep asking to be scanned again daily so they can finally locate baby for you. Sorry your going through this xx

I had the same thing happen to me. I actually went in to remove the ectopic pregnancy, they found nothing during the surgery. My HCG levels were rising. My doctor couldn’t figure it out. 2 weeks later, went for another ultrasound and there she was 6 weeks and 5 days. She is 8 now, and won’t go to sleep! Miracles happen everyday. That’s how I have my Amazing Gracie!

Could you be one of the few but not uncommon someone that has two complete sets of reproductive organs. In this case one is usually hidden behind the other, hence that’s were your baby might be.

I was pregnant with high HGC but they couldn’t locate baby until around 10 weeks due to 2 major surgery I had, he had implanted right at the back of my uterus, and because of the anaesthetic my body hid it quite well until baby finally grew that little but bigger to be seen… best of luck, hopefully it’s sorted for you soon!

I’ve had all these symptoms with an ovarian ectopic. Couldn’t find nothing on ultrasounds etc. it was only when I went down for surgery that they found a ‘mass’ on my ovary (this was the pregnancy) I would honestly try and get another opinion because if it is something like this it can be fatal. Can you get to another hospital or er?

If they can’t find the baby I would see about going to another bigger hospital. Call their OB dept asap and let them know what’s going on

I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies. If it’s in your tubes you will start getting sharp pains in your shoulder. Also I had a lot of bleeding. I also had a miscarriage when for the scan and couldn’t find baby in the gestational sac. For the ectopic pregnancies they gave me a series of shots of something I can’t remember but it’s a medicine used to kill tumors…and had my hcg levels monitored until they went away. I’m sorry you have to go through this i know it’s very scary. Just hang in there!

I had a miscarriage when I was three months along and after every thing I went back to see him a few months later and found out I was six months pregnant with my youngest daughter she hid all that time I lost her twin but not her . I had no symptoms that she was even there until he checked me out

I’d get another opinion in a city. Try to find a big teaching hospital if you can. Best of luck to you!

I have no idea momma but please keep us updated

My first pregnancy had everything but a baby. The ultrasound showed everything, no baby. I just had to wait for everything to figure out it was over. I was at three months, never got a reason why.

Baby is so small, it could be very hard to see. I had an ectopic pregnancy and my tube ruptured. It was very painful and I had bleeding. If there is any blood at all or you get any sharp pain, go in immediately.

Go to a hospital for another medical opinion ASAP.

This happened with my 5th pregnancy. We never found where the baby was so my doctor ordered methotrexate to terminate.y HCG levels were well over 20,000

Sounds like an ectopic. I had one 5 yrs ago and it ruptured causing me to lose right tube. Not trying to scare you. I hope they tell u something soon.

I had this happen with my second my hcg was climbing but no baby anywhere they even checked by my kidneys so they ordered methotrexate… good luck mama keep us posted

I had an expected ectopic pregnancy last yr they couldn’t locate the sac anywhere & were worried it could rupture so they gave me the shot to bring it on. Felt dreadful like I’d drank 2 bottles of bleach!! If u have to get the shot make sure u have some1 to help with ur kids after 2 days I was floored.
