My son is 3 years old, fever of 101 and can’t get medicine down him. He’s stubborn. Can I mix it with anything?
What does the pediatrician say?
Probably be ok without meds. Fever is the body’s way of coping. Any other symptoms or just fever? Is he drinking & eating normally?
Mix it with water or cordial
Try putting some with a bit of apple sauce or yogurt if he eats that. At 3, tell him it’s magic juice.
They sell infant Tylenol suppositories
Might have to depository ones for children
Agree with it depends on his symptoms with temp. If he’s not uncomfortable he may be ok for now. Popsicles are a good distraction and get fluids in. Also a nice bath can help feel a little better and sometimes will also bring down temp a little. It can be so stressful when littles don’t feel well
Slushies! Only thing that works for my daughter. You can blend ice with one of those carbonated Icee drinks and mix the meds in. Literally she is so picky and will not take it any other way. We’ve tried everything else.
Try a chewable. I had to switch my kids as soon as they could chew them as they HATE liquid meds.
We had to mix meds with milk, is he eating and drinking okay? I know when my youngest was sick my friend suggested baby formula just to get something into him.
Unless he is extremely uncomfortable, I wouldn’t worry about meds if he’s uncomfortable and yesyou can mix it with milk ,water, juice
Fever is good, just let it burn, that’s not very high
I mean I mix my grandsons meds with juice or water & he’s fine.
Fever is the body’s immune system working properly. The higher temp prevents viruses from replicating, thus they die off. 101 is not that high. Just keep that little one hydrated. Mine likes herbal tea with honey. If it lasts more than 3 days or suddenly spikes to above 103, take him to the dr.
The only thing that worked for both my girls when they had that stage was chocolate syrup. And I mean the only thing. Tried everything else.
Mix it 1oz of fluid. Thats what was recommended by my pediatrician
