I feel like something is medically wrong with me but everything comes back fine: Thoughts?

I don’t know what to do. I’ve been sick on and off since September. I was in the emergency room in September because I was having difficulty breathing and my chest was tight, and my heart was double beating. They ran tests, and everything was fine. I called my PCP the next day and was told I had strep without being tested for it. I was given antibiotics. I took two of them and very strangely developed a UTI, and I run back to the er. I was given other antibiotics and stopped the first ones. Fast forward January, my back starts killing me, chest tight, hard to breathe. Call my PCP, sends me for lab and X-rays. Everything comes back normal. Except my white blood cells are a little high. I start feeling a little better, then a week ago, I develop a headache, kinda like a brain freeze, my face kinda hurts. I’ve been waking up with pain in my head as if someone hit me. I’m dizzy, nauseous—my neck kind of hurts. I go to the er again, and everything is normal. I’m really at my wit’s end; I don’t know where or what to do. I’ve been tested for Covid lots of times, and thank God it’s negative. Not to mention I’m on Medicaid, and I do not have many options. Any and all advice is welcome Ps; I go to the er because my PCP only wants to see me by the virtual visit and not in person.

Has anyone discussed the possibility that you are having panic attacks?

I had a trapped nerve in my neck that gave me similar symptoms

Theirs a condition for people who think their is something always wrong (medically) with them all the time for like any little thing or discomfort. I just can’t remember the name.

Could it possibly be anxiety/panic attacks? I have a lot of similar symptoms and I have severe anxiety. It does manifest for physically, it’s not just mental. But you also may want to find another pcp as well.

This good be anxiety or panic attacks. These are common physical symptoms for both of those. Maybe look into a psychiatrist.

Definitely sounds like panic attacks.

The first bit sounds like either anxiety or POTS.

However, you were treated for a UTI and if you took cipro or levaquin you other symptoms could be from that. It’s called being floxed.

Sounds like you may have anxiety. Symptoms of anxiety can present themselves as physical, It’s not just mental. I went to the doctor on multiple occasions and everything was normal and then one day I was asked if I have anxiety. Long story short I’m on Lexapro now.

Sounds like panic attacks/anxiety. There’s something called panic disorder which is a type of anxiety disorder, it manifests with strong physical symptoms. Your PCP would not be very good at diagnosing this, you would need to seek out a psychiatrist.

These sound like physical symptoms of anxiety I’ve had the same

Ask your PCP to send you to a vascular neurologist as you may have fibromuscular displaysia. I spent a year with similar symptoms as you plus a few more. FMD is pretty rare and most doctors know nothing about it. At least get an MRI to rule it out.

Sound panic /anxiety related maybe talk to a psychologist good luck

Def sounds like panic attacks which can feel like ur having a heart attack or cant breath and get dizzy and fuzzy and feel friggtend they can make u feel dreadfull so if u get like this try to distract ur self and calm ur breathing down deep breath in then out there are many good methods that can help its finding the riggt one for you panick attacks can also give head pains and body pains ect it may not be this but really does seem like it

I do agree with the panic/anxiety attacks other people relayed but you could also try visiting a chiro for the physical symptoms in your back and neck. An adjustment would help and some will take you without insurance (if not covered by your Medicaid hmo) for their regular fee (mine is actually cheaper to pay cash then My copay)

Have they tested your thyroid if not that would be my next step I was like this after 8 years of being told basically it was in my head they found I had thyroid issues then found I have graves disease wich is an autoimmune disease I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy 2 years later here iam in worse shape than I started because it went undetected for so long good luck never give up you know your body better than anyone

Could be anxiety attacks

Don’t go to the ER, seeing a different provider each time there is no continuity of care. Find a new pcp if the one you have isn’t cutting it. Could be nothing to many things, so I won’t speculate. Keep a symptom journal.

Depression physically hurts too

Have you gotten checked for blood clots?

You need to be referred to a rheumatologist, they need to rule out autoimmune disease as many of them can have symptoms like these.

Antibiotics like amoxillin etc cause you to have a vaginal yeast/uti…etc for few people.
Rest of the symptoms check for panic attacks, migraines…
Check your vit D and thyroid as well.
Elevated WBC could be any infection your body is fighting like could even be a tooth decay…only worry if its too high.

It sounds like anxiety panic attacks they are horrible and makes you feel sick :mask: I have panic disorder and Gad disorder and I have had similar symptoms definitely go to your doc and get checked out again but definitely could be anxiety

My husband was having symptoms like this and kept going back couldn’t find anything finally found out he had rocky mountain spotted fever

Panic/aniexty… I do it too. My family’s at the point they roll their eyes

Could be your heart, could be signs of a stroke, could be nothing but stress and anxiety. I would call around & find a hospital that offers heart tests or schedule your own appointment with a cardiologist if your insurance will cover it.
You might need a referral, but if nothing else just go rule out heart & artery issues & move on from there.
There’s really no age limit to heart and head issues.

Unfortunately The ER will only treat immediate symptoms, not diagnose “issues” unless you are literally dying at that moment.

It maybe psychological not physical these sound like an anxiety issue and you should talk to psychologist about it to get checked because it is very serious

This sounds like anxiety to me but I’m not a doctor, what you are having is exactly the same as when I use to suffer from anixety xx

I was diagnosed for two years for uti.just recently found out I had cyst.

Find a new pcp quit using medicaid to rack up huge ER bills that you’re not responsible for. My PCP sees patients and accepts medicaid so I know there’s some out there. You need to see a pcp so they can rule things out and keep going from there

Keep fighting to find answers. Keep getting new opinions. I know its exhausting and disappointing and depressing. But women are traditionally misdiagnosed all the time. It could be physical, or emotional or mental, but you deserve an answer. Good luck to you

I was never tested for covid I was sick April 2020. Now seeing a cardiologist. I was called suspected covid but they didnt have enough tests and I wasnt considered severe enough. I’ve had ongoing issues as well. There is a high rate of false negatives in covid testing. Also a theory that o blood types may test negative even when positive. I cant say what is going on but just know many this year have tested negative for covid and had unknown illness. I follow covid groups to connect with others.

Have they tested your thyroid? Your thyroid controls everything in your body. If not I’d have that done.
It also sounds like anxiety.

Did they check your heart-health? That’s the first thing I thought of with your second sentence.

I would try to find someone else to go to. Could be anxiety, panic attacks did you have your blood tested and run for different deficiencies.

If your getting head aches and heart problems, go to your doctor and ask then to refer you to see a heart specialist, and brain specialist etc could be some thing hiding if they havent tested these things, if your white blood cells are high it indicates a infection but without knowing where the infection is they need to give you really strong ones

Sounds a lot like anxiety. Many people are experiencing this especially after the pandemic. This is what someone who newly experiences anxiety thinks. They think it’s something physically wrong but it’s all psychological. The chest feeling heavy, difficulty breathing, neck hurting are all part of anxiety. Try speaking to a psychiatrist or even a physical therapist who will help relax the muscles that tense up when you’re anxious.

I spent 2 years thinking something was very wrong with me physically, and I went from specialist to specialist only to have every test come back negative… even went as far as having my breast implants removed. Turns out it was a mixture of stress and anxiety! You’d be surprised what it can do to the body. Put myself on Wellbutrin.

The tight in your chest and trouble breathing… I had that a couple years ago. On my own I decided it was the combination of medicines they had me on, a blood pressure med, birth control and anti anxiety. I stopped taking them and the problem stopped. Not sure what you can do when everything comes back normal. I went to the er for mine and “everything came back normal” too.

Sound alike a chronic illness.
Which as you can tell from the comments many people don’t understand and will want to call you a hypochondriac. Get some medical genetic testing done it should get some insight for ya thats what it took for alot of peeps I know

Girl that sounds exactly like anxiety.
What happens in your brain when this is happening?
Is it like a whirlwind of thought that won’t allow you to make one cohesive complete thought-circuit before the other part of your brain starts excreting worst case scenarios and wildly unlikely outcomes? Do you feel like you have add? Do you find yourself foot jiggling, or if you’re sitting down and you realize something needs to be done or you want a drink or whatever reason you have to get up, do you stand up suddenly enough to startle other people in the room?
Do you feel an impeding sense of doom, and you’re not sure why?
Do you feel like you’re having a heart attack?
Have you become outrageously furious to the point that you feel like you could become physically violent over exceptionally mild provocation?
Does this just happen out of the blue, with no understandable warning or trigger?
Have you become suddenly paranoid or afraid, for no reason at all?
Because those are some of the many confusing symptoms of anxiety.

Couple of questions… do you smoke? If so, try to quit… 2. Are you taking any vitamins, herbs etc? If so you may want to look at stopping those also. Also look at seeing a cardiologist and getting in with a pulmonologist for possible sleep apnea. Also anxiety can cause you to have the symptoms that you described as far as even throwing your white cell count. I just went through this EXACT thing with my husband after he suffered a heart attack and stroke and it stemmed from sleep apnea and high anxiety. Please if your PCP is not listening to you, find another doctor who will. You are your only advocate!!!:hugs:

My first thought when reading this is anxiety. I’ve suffered with anxiety for over 10 years and it can literally make you think everything and anything is wrong and the more you think about it the worse it gets. Contact your pcp and see about anxiety medication. I promise it’ll help

It sounds like stress and anxiety. That will make your chest/throat, many other things hurt. I’ve been dealing with pain on and off myself the past couple of years and one thing I notice is when I’m stressed or anxious I can feel like I have the flu. Deff keep pushing. Don’t let them tell you you’re fine if you don’t feel like you are!

Sounds a bit like anxiety attacks…

Get your thyroid checked. Thyroid issue can cause heart palpitations and could cause pain in you neck and jaw. They can check your thyroid levels by a simple blood draw. Thyroid problem can also cause panic attacks as well. Just a thought but wouldn’t hurt to have it checked.

Could be an auto immune disease which usually comes in “flares”. Periods where the disease is active with disturbing symptoms and then periods where you feel better. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and have many of these symptoms. I had to see a rheumatologist to be diagnosed. The back and chest symptoms are red flags for this as well as neck pain and headaches but could possibly be something else too. The elevated white blood cells can be a sign of inflammation in the body or sometimes a sign of infection. Classic signs of an inflammatory condition include waking up during the night in pain, night sweats, morning stiffness that lasts more than 30-60minutes, bowel issues, eye issues, skin problems like psoriasis or unexplained rashes, fatigue (exhaustion), recurring infections that the body cannot fight off. This occurs when inflammation levels are very high. If you have no history of anxiety and were not under stress when these episodes occurred then it’s unlikely to be anxiety as others have mentioned. We know when something is “off” within our bodies and this can cause anxiety which can cause heart palpitations but anxiety would have to be very very severe to cause other strange symptoms that you are mentioning here. Too often doctors blames these issues on mental health issues when theres something else wrong. They thought I was just anxious too for years when the symptoms were so sudden and so scary they would make anyone anxious

I’ve been in same boat for last 2 weeks almost. Went to my dr for anxiety and I told her I was having bad sinus pains. She did nothing. I went er 2 times before they out me on antibiotics for sinusitis. The 1000mg antibiotic gave me serious side effects… brain fog, nausea, chills, etc. I lost 6 pounds and im already a tiny girl. I had blood work and heart tests done and everything was great. I went to er again for anxiety and ct scan showed I had mastoiditis. Finished my pills last Tuesday, now have UTI, and my ears and sinuses still bother me daily and still dizzy off and on and headache. And I still get slight bits of anxiety during the day. I go to ENT Dr Thursday. My dr absolutely sucks and I have medicaid. The er is the only place I can go and see whats wrong because all the drs I find are morons. Hope you can get some relief soon.

I honestly feel your pain iv had problems with my ribs since I was a child like I would have bad episode of crippling pain I’m 31 now n still go through them, I sometimes get lumps appearing along my rib cage exp the left side and all tests would come back as negative including inflammation this went on for years!!! It’s that bad for example I went for a walk other day after 10 minutes went into a episode no warning signs n was crippled outside I had to force myself back home bringing up froth due to how much pain I was in, naproxen paracetamol buscopan u name iv took it, n yet all tests are negative a rhemo Dr has said it’s possible it’s segronegative arthritis but even so there’s no proof :see_no_evil: closest iv got to a diganosis… Trust me if you think there’s something wrong with you and you can tell the difference keep going back to them bloody drs! It took me since I was about 11 to get some kinda diganosis I had dr after Dr tryna tell me it was anxiety, never knew lumps appeared from anxiety! Keep going

Could be stress could you get another doctor. It’s hard to find someone who take medicare and Medicaid. I think you pop is a butt head

Ino this is abit of a long shot do u have muscular pain? Fibromyalgia always comes back as negative that can cause costacondritis (always negative) headaces, dizzness, fog, look it up n see what you think

Go to an oncologist. I was feeling the same way and I went to the e.r. and they did a chest x-ray and found lung cancer

Get your thyroid checked. I had thyroid cancer. It could be anything but it doesn’t hurt to check. My endocrinologist doesn’t know how long I had it but I had many of the same symptoms and high anxiety with ppd. They were all linked to my cancer. Once I had the tumor removed, I have been on the mend.

I have three thoughts.
One, have you had your home checked for mold? If your having a reaction to mold it can have very similar reactions to anxiety.
2nd would be stress induced anxiety.
3rd carbon monoxide poisoning.

Praying you find the answers to your problems and can get them handled.

Sound slike stress, and anxiety.

You don’t need to be actively “thinking or freaking out” in the moment for an attack to happen. I have mistaken it for serious health problem because it never occurred to me I could have an attack while being seemingly calm.

I’m thinking anxiety and/ or West Nile virus. It’s difficult to get it diagnosed, but all your symptoms sure fit

My MIL went to the er multiple times for the past four years, different pain and symptoms each time and everything always cane back fine, we all thought it was anxiety and stress. Recently she had COVID and went to the er, well, idk what kind of test they did this time because they found she has fluid in her heart and has had it for a while. They had not checked for it before. She is now getting care with a cardiologist and may have surgery. It’s sad and scary how long it takes to find out

I would recommend going to a chiropractor - it could possibly be a pinched nerve or a muscle causing it. You really would not believe the amount of things Chiropractic care helps with, or how many issues are caused to due to misalignment.

A couple things jumped out at me
Development of uti after starting ( might have already been there, just brewing)
Headache tingling, dizzy, nuasea.

Have tested you for Encephalitis?

Have you had an EKG or echo done for your heart? If not, I’d definitely have the ER do both of these.

Ok… I’m gonna throw my 2 cents in here. Since your felt something was going on with your heart, I would seek a cardiologist. Have them check for SVT. When you have an episode it causes tightening in the chest that feels like an anxiety attack. I would also recommend the chiropractor, but I’d also recommend the CT scan or MRI

Not trying to scare you or anything but this is exactly how my late husband was and then he started falling all the time back in 2018 I took him several times to er and Drs no test was done no nothing I had enough of it and literally snapped on the er doctor as he literally went from 120 pounds down to 80 pounds over night I made them do a CT scan and literally 5 minutes after the CT scan the doctor came back in and he got transferred to another hospital come to find out it was brain cancer praying for you to get some answers!!:pray:

Anxiety is common and treatable but with those symptoms if include with temp and duration Sometimes an X-ray may not show infiltrate. If X-ray negative and still symptoms CT chest to rule out infection infection. CTA to rule out PE. Being dehydrated can cause heart race. UTI, concerns me. Kidney infection can cause nausea and also the infection can come in the urethra that can lead into pelvis infection. White count is elevate so there is some infection somewhere. If they did a urinalysis it would determine what strain of bacteria and generally they treat more common for e-coli.
You might want to get a blood pressure monitor. You can have episodes of high blood pressure. Also dizzy nausea and neck can be a symptom of a silent migraine with out the pain. Generally, the ER discharge and or PCP would redirect you to specialist. Get your medical records and all testing and consult . Before you leave you ask what is your diagnosis and prognosis.

Yes, see a Chiropractor! I’ve worked for one for years…I get adjusted as soon as I start to feel a cold coming on or anything out of the norm! My son is 15 months old and gets adjusted regularly, he was a week old when he got his first adjustment! Our whole system works from our back and with you being on Medicaid you’re allowed 15 free visits

The face pain sounds like trigeminal neuralgia. There is no test or image that will show it. The joint pains could be menopause pain( sorry if I’m way off on age)

I think you should get your kidneys looked at. From experience, please get them checked

I’ve had so many of those same issues for years until I started going to my chiropractor once a week. Even got off some meds.

Have them check your gall bladder. Sounds strange but my sister said she felt like she was having a heart attack when they found out her gall bladder needed to come out.

I’d change doctors. Your doctor is lazy & selfish to not see you in person.
Our PCPs let us choose in person or phone.

Can you go to a different er?

Is there a possibility that it could be diabetes??

As a healthcare provider my suggestion is to start over with a new pcp who will do a through history and physical. They can sort out things one by one. Not necessary all the time for expensive tests to start. They can look at root causes by asking good questions. Good luck

Go to a naturopathic doctor, have them check your gut bacteria out, see if you have overgrowth of candida? Sounds like inflammatory response :woman_shrugging:t2:

Yes try a chiropractor

Wonder if you have gone to a different doctor/ clinic. your white cell count doesn’t sound good. Becareful with cancer, some how doctors keep missing those signs. personally speaking.

It truly sounds like an anxiety attack to me. I will sometimes have them for what feels like no reason. And your symptoms are how I’ll feel. Hard time breathing, which hurts my back and chest, heart racing, light headed, nauseous, and then I get really tired when it’s over.

Maybe talk to your PCP about it or ask for a referral to a therapist?

Gallbladder? It can feel like you’re having a heart attack.

I had all of those symptoms. Stress induced anxiety attacks. You may not even think you’re that stressed but it all builds up and takes a toll on the body. It really sounds like you have anxiety. Sounds like aches and pains from normal day to day life but because it’s worrying you it’s causing anxiousness. I deal with the same thing only to find out I’m fine and I’m doing it to myself.

Classic symptoms of anxiety. The majority of times a person isn’t diagnosed with anxiety for 5 - 10 years because symptoms are all over the place…no fault of yours. Dealing with anxiety tends to go hand-in-hand with depression because people think you are crazy. You’re not. I know how it feels. Hang in there. When you start to feel the pressure take deep breaths and blow out slowly while concentrating on happy thoughts. Best of luck to you.
