Ladies, I am lost. Over the past year, I put on 30 pounds. I have always had a good, maintained weight at 150, now at 180, my confidence is shot. I don’t really know how it happened because my lifestyle didn’t change. My job stayed the same, life stayed the same, eating habits stayed the same (if not improved!) We found out recently that we are expecting baby #2 which we are over the moon for! With baby #1, I put on 70 pounds (from 130-207) so now at a higher weight, I am so worried about putting on so much weight again. My midwife saw me recently and said, I’m very healthy. I don’t feel that way, and now with the pregnancy, I’m not sure what to do! This page can get kind of rude, so please don’t shoot me when I’m already down, I’m doing my best here!
Have your thyroid checked asap, could be way too low that’ll have you gain weight
I’m currently in the same boat. I am 6 months pregnant and have gained 10 pounds so far. I didn’t gain any weight the first 4 months. Then slowly gained 8 lbs and over the holiday put on 4 more. I eat healthier snacks when I can. I crave the fruit so that helps me out so far
First…have you had your thyroid checked? I was recently put on a thyroid medication that has given me no side effects and…girl…it has changed EVERYTHING! I had no idea all of my problems were because of my thyroid, I was getting super depressed about it all. I even struggled with breastfeeding my second baby and as soon as I was put on this medication, I began making a ton of milk, my hair started growing back in longer and stronger, I had energy again, I’m glowing. I wish you luck
U can do weight watchers while pregnant u eat alot n eat healthy n u can eat out n fast food too
30 lbs weight gain, and your still pregnant. I wouldn’t stress over it. Once you have the baby, breast feeding burns allot of calories.
As long as u eat healthy n walk or do yoga u should be fine I’m currently in my 9 month and I only gained 7 pounds although morning sickness probably played a huge part in that …with my first I gained 50 pounds every pregnancy is different
I gained 70 with my first. 18 with my 2nd. Every pregnancy is so different. Just continue to eat healthy and give that baby what it needs.
Eat good and know that stress is harder on the body then extra weight so dont stress just do your best .
I gained 70lbs lol and after a year of breastfeeding I lost it all without any help.baby take it all lol
Your metabolism tends to slow down the older you get.
Ive fought with my weight my whole life i was 300lb at 16 lost down to 190 by the time i was 20 got pregnat had a miscarrage gained like 40lb due to stress and depression eating found out i was pregnat again after only 4 months gainded back up to almost 300lb during the pregnacy and now im slowly loseing again but this holiday aint helping me nun dont get down just because you gained some weight speiclly whike pregnat
First and foremost be kind to yourself and talk to the doctor about it
Only speaking from my experience, 3 kids later, I’m 5"2’… I was 116-120 normally… gained 30 lbs during pregnancies… after the 2nd I was 118 working out had a 6pack abs. After the third I’m 125… I’m 27… idk if age is a factor… I’d talk to a doctor about what is normal weight gain
That’s your concern??? Weight gain?
Eat healthy for now and take good care of yourself and your baby. Don’t eat junk or sugar (cookies, candy) because they are empty calories.
…
I am only 5 ft. I gained 69 lbs with my 2nd pregnancy. I nursed (this burns 1,000 calories a day), ate healthy after I delivered and started to exercise. Never looked better.
Be kind to yourself.
Welcome to the club you are not alone!
Eat healthy and stay active, go for walks or use a pool.
I started out higher with my current pregnancy. I was 197. I lost weight for a while during which is apparently really common for higher weights. I’m currently 208.6 and am scheduled for csection jan 23rd.
I gained 60lbs during pregnancy and still had 20lbs to lose a month after…and my weight hasn’t budged except now that it’s the holidays I’ve gained almost 10lbs. So now I’m 30lbs away from my goal.
i feel you.
It can be a thyroid problem! Talk to your doctor’s about running some tests
I would just make sure to exercise and eat well while pregnant. Don’t diet or anything until after baby comes you really don’t need the added stress.
You’re going to gain weight if you’re pregnant, that’s how it works. Expecting to stay the same weight or lose weight while you are pregnant is unhealthy. You probably look amazing to everyone except yourself so dont be hard on yourself.
Talk with your midwife, and maybe start walking
Def get your thyroid checked. I gained 35 pounds in a month and found out I have low thyroid. It’s a bitch I haven’t been abke to loose weight unless I starve myself but hete lately I haven’t had an appitite so that is helping.
Congrats little momma ! The only time i could get preg. Is when i was 170 180. Dont even worry about your weight now . Your growing a little baby in your body . In fact you cant worry about weight till your baby is one .
If your over 30 and having a baby you will gain and hold more weight. Your hormones change dramatically same as when your in your 40s not pregnant and can’t seem to lose weight. Try pregnancy yoga also it might help a little.
Don’t beat yourself up. You’re making a human, give yourself some grace. There are things you can do to try to have a fit pregnancy tho totally. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, see what they suggest. Maybe you could go on daily walks or so like pregnancy yoga? Also try to have a balanced diet. Stay away from things like juice and processed sugar. I’m 35 weeks and I have gestational diabetes so I’ve cut down on processed sugar a LOT and am working hard ( and failing lol but I digress) at balancing carbs and protiens, it’s a pain in my entire ass and i hate it but since I’ve made the changes I’ve made ice lost 5lbs! While pregnant! I got a sugar substitute for my coffee and I try not to eat sweets. No carbs is bad for when your pregnant so you don’t wanna go full keto is what my dietician says, it’s all about balance. Processed sugar tho is your enemy. Natural sugar like from fruit and stuff is good, bread is sugar especially white bread, so maybe switch to a like super grainy wheat bread. Those are some things I have learned from the dietician I see for my gestational diabetes. Talk to your doctor about your concerns tho for sure, they really may be able to help you. But whatever you do, don’t beat yourself up! You’re creating life! You’re beautiful! Try to enjoy it as best you can, we all know it ain’t easy…but it is so so worth it all in the end!
Just stay away from sugar and bread. Keep in mind you’re pregnant and only need to take in 300 calories more then you normally would to keep up with the demand of pregnancy. Good luck and congratulations
Thyroid needs tested!
Depending on how long it’s been since your last pregnancy, it could be just “aging”. And yes, it’s harder as you get older to lose the weight. How you gain through each pregnancy can greatly vary though. I am a perfect example! Lol with my son, I gained 80#, and also got gestational diabetes. Most I had lost at any point was about 40 #. 5 years later, and 90# above my original weight, I went to the dr because I wasnt feeling well and was losing 10ish pounds a week. They said it was my THYROID! And put me on meds. A week later, I tried to make bacon for breakfast and instantly got sick. 1 at home pregnancy test later, I was pregnant! BUT, it was a few weeks later, and additional weight loss, that they gave me an ultrasound and it was twins! It did eventually start gaining some weight, but minimal.
Long story short, my son, 8#10oz, 80#weight gain
Daughters, 6#7oz/6#9oz (36 weeks) 6# weight gain lol
You are a little older for baby #2 so that is a factor. With baby # 1 I lost the weight very quickly. #2 took forever. Still work in progress. Walk alot, drink lots of water. Eat fruits and veggies with high water content. Talk to dr about goal weight for end of pregnancy and work off that # to see how much you need to lose. Prenatal yoga, work outs youtube.
Have you had your thyroid checked?
I’d go see an actual dr that graduated from actual med school, and discuss it. If in fact all your levels are normal, then you need to eat less and exercise more. Your metabolism changed for whatever reason. Getting older does that. IF you are cleared by a GP, and bloodwork, then try myfitnesspal. It’s an app that will keep a food and exercise diary for you. Give you a diet plan or calorie intake to follow to meet your daily goals. And if you do it, you WILL lose weight. Perhaps you’ll relearn how to function with a slower metabolism. You can do this safely during pregnancy as long as you increase your weight and your goal weight as your body grows with the baby, so that you aren’t taking in fewer calories than you should be. You can also look online or speak to your doctor about the minimum amount of calories needed to remain healthy for the baby.
It happens as you get older. Nothing to worry about. As long as your doctor says you’re healthy, you’re healthy. Don’t risk depriving your baby of nutrients just for a diet. Confirm with your doctor that you are at a healthy weight for your height and age, and if not your doctor will give you advice on the safest way to go about things.
Thyroid needs to be checked
Try walking everyday. If not every other day. Or every 2 days. Stay active and dont eat a bunch of junk. Your body may need more nutirent rich foods than before because baby is taking all of it. So you may need to up your intake while pregnant. As in more veggies and fruits.
Love yourself don’t worry about the number as long as you and baby are healthy a little bit of extra weight won’t hurt you can worry about that after your bundle of joy has arrived congratulations
I gained 70 with my first then only 25 with my second. So just stay mindful and walk walk walk. Good luck
Stop eating over the holidays
