I was told my babies kidneys weren't growing right: Advice?

I currently found out at my last sonogram that my baby’s kidneys are not growing as they should be. I haven’t told anyone other than my spouse, but I really need someone to give me advice, prayers, good vibes and if any other moms have been told this.?

Get a second opinion. I try not to let sonogram results seriously. Until your baby is here, they really dont know.

My 3rd baby went to the kidney doctor the first year of his life. I was induced at 37w because of low amniotic fluid. He was sent to the NICU. Kidney problems were diagnosed during an anatomy scan at 20w. I was told he was going to have to have a surgery if he didn’t have any wet diapers. Something about the bladder and tubing that leads to the end of his penis didn’t develop properly but they couldn’t tell because he was too tiny to see well enough on an ultrasound. He weighed 5lbs1oz. Good news. He never needed a surgery. He was in NICU for about 2 weeks. He had low blood sugars but was told that was normal for a small baby. He’s 12 years old and I think he pees more often than normal but other than that he’s completely fine.

My son’s kidneys were growing larger than his body. I knew he would go to the NICU and be under testing until he was a year old.

It’s OK to get a second opinion.

I was told my entire pregnancy that my sons kidneys were not growing right. We had so many extra ultrasounds, all showed that one was small and one was big. They did an ultrasound at birth and they were normal. I guess babies retain urine in the womb and can cause them to look wrong. Don’t worry too much. Ask for additional ultrasounds. Get a second opinion. But don’t stress.

They tried to tell me my son and a growth restriction and he didn’t. I would personally get a second opinion.

Praying in Jesus name that IF there is something wrong, that he will heal your baby and give you peace. I agree with others about a second opinion. Good luck momma!! Try not to stress!

My son was born with renal agenesis. He has one functioning kidney and one that is not working and in the wrong place. They found out through ultrasound when I was still pregnant.

Prayers and prayers, do not letting the scan get to your head seek a second opinion as well.

As someone who has a kidney stunted. But if you get a second opinion and confirm it then I would definitely prepare for kidney infections. And you would need antibiotics for it😬 also Tylenol and ibuprofen I would think too. But your doctor would be able to give more advice. Cause idk how that would effect a baby or what. Wishing the best for you and your babe

When I was pregnant my dr told me one of my son’s kidney was bigger than the left one but it stayed mild and now I’m worried I want to go check it out to see how it’s going ! He’s 10mo this but he is good

Lord, You knit us in our mothers womb, and I ask that you help to grow the kidneys of this child and bless the mother with a healthy baby. In Jesus name, amen.

Prayers. Try not to worry too much

Prayers! Please get a second opinion, don’t stress I know is a very difficult situation but your baby needs you to stay positive.

How is babies bladder? My son had fetal megacystis and with the blocked bladder it caused complete kidney failure.

I was told this about my daughter’s kidney (one not growing) waited till she was a year old and removed it no worries at all, in saying that there was only one bad one, the other is fine so far. Hope it all works out for you xx

My son was born with an enlarged kidney that fixed itself

Sending prayers love and light.

They said my sons leg had stopped growing, he’s fine, both legs are normal

My daughter was born with a ectopic kidney with fluid in it… she’s now 4 yrs old no complications and no surgery. She does go to get ultrasounds every 6 months to monitor

I was 34 weeks when my Dr told me she was going to schedule an induction…

“My oxygen levels were low”

“She is at risk of being small”

I was my second opinion…I carried till 41weeks…6 weeks passed when the ass I mean Dr… wanted her out…and she is so perfect. She was perfect when she was born. If I would have let a Dr take her out at 34 weeks because of what “she thought” my gorgeous lil angel wouldn’t have been so perfect. Not saying all Drs are wrong…but mine was. And my gut was right. I had 5 appts a week for the last 3 months of pregnancy…All stress tests and ultrasounds said healthy…I wasn’t letting someone … Dr or not … Tell me she needed to be early. Listen to the tests and ur gut. If the tests would have said…She’s in danger…Would have been a different story but…

Your doc is the best person to advise you on this. Go with what they told you. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from another doctor.

Sometimes by birth the issue sorts it self out, or it was a misinterpreted ultrasound. My son only has one functioning kidney, the other one is not properly formed and he saw a kidney specialist once a month until he was 2 then once every 6 months until he was 4, after age 4 he only needed the specialist for things like infections (never had one) or blood in his wee which so far has only happened once. He’s almost 16 now and just fine, and I hope your little one will be too. Sending good vibes and hugs.

Dont worry too much! They whipped me into such a frenzy with my first baby saying they saw something on the ultrasound they even offered to terminate her right there!! I was SO sick and stressed out for weeks until my second opinion and he said she looked just fine. Shes a healthy 15 yo now but if i would have listened to dr 1 she wouldnt be here. Dont stress, you can handle any issue for your little ones sake. You can do it mama!

I was told that my son had a dual kidney at 20 week ultrasound and at 28 week ultrasound there was no evidence that it was growing dually it is something to keep an eye on if your doctor has major concerns they will refer you to a specialist but it really just depends on if it is cause for concern. My grandmother has a dual kidney (which would make sense that it runs in genes) she deals with bladder infections throught her life but nothing real serious. Good luck momma im sure everything will turn out okay!
