My son started when he was 8 :flushed: it sure surprised me. He’s an active boy, I just make sure he showers regularly and wears deodorant.

My daughter started perspiring at 5 years old. I thought it was early so i asked her dr & he said it could be something in her diet (recommended almond milk instead of regular milk) but that its not totally abnormal or something to worry about… so deoderamt is the best bet.

It’s not normal. Body odor is one of the first symptoms of CPP, aka early onset of puberty. Talk to your pediatrician. You may need a referral to an endocrinologist. My daughter has CPP and puberty started at age 7. There are children much younger than her who have been diagnosed. It is treatable.

My 7yo boy has BO  I have to tell him to shower and use pitstick

I noticed my daughter needing some armpit assistance around 8…I use aluminum free deodorant stick…

To drink plenty of water helps as well

Thanks for asking this question. My daughter is 6yrs old and her little armpits are stinky.
I bought her a teen spirit deodorant she uses it every other day. I also thought she is way to young for body odor . Thanks for talking about this subject.

Use deodorant without aluminum, they will thank you in the long run.

I’d say so, but the time mine turned 8 they NEEDED deodorant baaaad!

My 5 year old has a lot of BO. Especially in her armpits. I shower her everyday :woman_shrugging:

Anyone with BO, try wiping your armpits with a paper towel and a little rubbing alcohol on it. Like once a week, after a shower.

It cuts the severity of the BO and helps it to go away, and not stay long. Still use deodorant like usual.

It’s weird but works!!

Yes especially considering their ethnicity, I had to wear it at 6… I’m Lebanese.

Yes! Wipe underarms with rubbing alcohol every so often as long as they don’t have any reaction to it. Mine don’t. Check into Lume Deodorant or other non antiperspirants for that age. lume smells weird at first but goes away quick with no scent and is amazing and natural for kids to use.

Could be due to a food allergy, my child had that reaction to a milk allergy

My 5 yr old uses deodorant she been using it for like 2 yrs now she watches me an her sister use it so she does as well thank God cuz baby her pits be rocking but she is very active her doctor said she is fine

When I took my young child to the doctor for it, the doctor suggested it from eatting alot of chicken bc they put growth hormones in the chicken :person_tipping_hand:t4: :v:t4:

Idk my sons doctor asked if he had any body oder at his last check up (he’s 8 ) and even smelled him. Said that’s a sign of puberty and it’s too early for him to start that. And If we notice the signs we have to let them know so they can give him something to slow it down. So I would say maybe not :woman_shrugging:

I’d get them checked out for an allergy or infection. However, I’ve worked with kids who’ve needed antiperspirant from about seven.

Following* Does anyone know how to handle foot odor in a 7 and 5 year old? They bathe every other day unless they play outside for a long time and get dirty.

My son is 10yrs old & had to start wearing deodorant at age 7, but I also have an 11yr old daughter who doesn’t need it, no sign at all of stinky armpits yet lol. Some Kids develope OB faster than others. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Every kid is different. It depends on the ethnicity, genetics, how often they get baths, and hormones. I didn’t need deoderant until 11 when I started going through puberty. My oldest is almost 9 with no stinkiness/signs of puberty.

Yes. Could be genes or diet.

I heard as well i u don’t dry under ur arms properly that can cause b o so could be worth just making sure their dry properly also i would speak to the doctor as they may be able to give u soemthing or may want to test and make sure there’s no allergies or anything so could be worth visiting ur gp

Just want to mention there’s a difference between antiperspirant and deodorant. And there are natural deodorants you can look into that do not contain harmful chemicals. You could also try corn starch. They sell pure corn starch that comes in a container like baby powder but isn’t. It’s talc free.
But before any of that I’d check with your pediatrician.
Also suggest making sure after bath your child is dried off well, when they stay damp in their creases it can cause odor.

My daughter has been wearing deodorant since she was four and my niece just turned four and is also starting to smell under her arms

My daughter is 10 and had BO I washed ever piece of clothing in vinegar including bedding I put some in a spray bottle and sprayed her in the places she sweats that seemed to get rid of the BO…

My now 8 year old should wear deodorant… and has for the last year or so especially if she been outside a lot

My dr told me to get antibacterial soap! It truly made a difference and we started to notice that everytime she ate cheese is when her pits smelled like onions🤢

Sadly because of all of the chemicals and hormones that are used in the food processing in this country, yes. Kids today are going through puberty (which will cause body odor) and developing breast at a much earlier age than ever before

having toxin overload clearly. take a look and research the ingredients on each personal care product you are using on him. same thing with food.

Yes, when my little brother was about 6/7 he started getting body odour

Have them run labs and verify his blood sugar

take them to a endocrinologist. i forget what it was but my son jad aweful body odor and was diagnosed with something. saod hed grow outta it

My nine year step daughter does or did. I noticed it at the beginning of the year I got permission from her mom to teach her. She was so happy I noticed. So I bought deodorant and starting teaching her.
You see her mom works 16-hour shifts 6 days in a row so the kids are mostly at the babysitters or our house so I don’t blame her for not noticing.

My almost 8 year old has some body odor. I’m going to talk to her dr at her check up. She even told me that her armpits get wet from sweat.

No cause if they sweat a lot and mean alot then it could be his glands under the armpits.but also certain foods do that.a friendly mind, her daughter was going through the Same thing.come to out it had to do to certain foods she quit giving her those foods and it stop.ask your dr.that child would go through so many deorants and she was 5

My 6 yr old had this happen as well …I find if you change their diet it helps a little…my son was eating alot of processed food or McDonald’s…limiting that helped him not need deodorant. Also if that doesn’t help…arm and hammer and Lume brand have aluminum free deodorant which works as well.

I would ask their doctor. My son didn’t start having body odor until around 8.

My daughter stress sweats already at 6.

It’s hormonal. Yes normal. Thank to Pediatrician

My son did when he was little… took him to the Dr and he had shoved a peice of sponge in his nostril… must have been there a cpl weeks and it smelled horrible. Is he breathing weird of anything?

I don’t think it’s super common at that age but I wouldn’t say it’s abnormal either.

The skin is the last place we detox from. All kinds of disease show up in the skin from toxicity.

I think for some kiddos it might be normal if they sweat a lot. I have my 6 year old getting in the habit of using deodorant every day so when he starts getting smelly its under control. Just make sure he is showering every day and changing his underwear and socks and if you really . concerned you could call the dr office and speak to a nurse and see if he needs to be seen.

Yes. I always used the teen deodorant when I was young and it smelled so good. Not sure if they have it anymore but im sure they have kids options. I also have heard about Lumë, it supposedly takes the smell away but you can chose a scent or unscented and it’s natural. I would think that’s your best bet as aluminum causes cancer in rare cases but you don’t want to start on it too early. Get her some stuff that makes her feel good. And have her send a care package to school. (A little Body spray, the deodorant, a hair brush etc) you may want to add pads in there because it could be her going through puberty.

My six yr old has just starting to sweat a little bit. Sweat itself does not stink. When it dries there’s bacteria that feed off the sweat. The bacteria emit an odor. As long as the child is bathing daily with soap and shampooing his hair, they won’t stink. If you’re still smelling a smell, I would recommend going to a pediatrician.

I have four and my first 2 were around 12 my 3rd child was closer to 14 but my little one who os 8 just recently got a bit stinky

My son did at that age, I told his dr and she said not to worry, then we he lifted his arms to put his shirt in, she got a wiff. Told me to use talc under his arms. Went straight to target, got him some natural deodorant, because he also had eczema. Worked like a charm, didn’t smell him agin until his teenage yrs, but we know how that goes, lol

Drink water cleans out the lymph nodes.

Could from the food consumed. Times change so many additives GMO added to our food… i would just talk to the doctor.

My experience is that is comes and goes with hormonal changes.

I had to start using deodorant at 6! Still have issues with it today. Hormonal, stress, and not drinking enough water makes it worse.

My six year old did. She is 8 now. She seems to go through things early though, she’s lost about 8 teeth already. My twin 6 year old have not though.

My 7 year old daughter uses this.

Its normal if they r running around n playing they gonna get sweating n stinky n gross

A lot of times it’s an allergy to food. My granddaughter had horrible bo when she’d have dairy.
