I let my dog eat off my fork, drink my cereal milk, clean my dish, etcā¦ itās gonna be washed in hot dawn water & rinsed too. Iād rather eat after my dog than most humans.

When a dog licks its own butt and then its genitals and then licks your bowl, it has less harmful bacteria and microbes on its tongue than another human has in their own mouthā¦ A lot of what a dog has in its saliva is zootonicā¦ it cannot cross to humans. What I would really be concerned about in this instance is making sure that the humans that showed up and ate your food have had their cutlery and plates thoroughly washed. And for the love of God do not use their cellphoneā¦ there is a lot of human fecal matter on it. You picked the wrong enemy in this situationā¦
If dishwasher water is at 130 degrees, itās fine.

I donāt like it, I put leftovers in their bowl or on a paper plate. Now my husband doesnāt care and my parents didnāt either but I just canāt handle it. I just tell him he has to wash the dish that the dog ate out of.
Same here, my husband did the same(heās white) Iām not He said itāll be washed with dishwasher. I said itās still grossed and throw bowl or plate away. So he stopped doing that. I donāt know if its different culture or heās just like that

I agree, animals licking out of dishes we use is disgusting. BUT I also understand that it can be washed and not a big deal if it was leftover you were feeding them. Simply communicate that you donāt like it and ask it be avoid.
I mean if no one else will be using it before itās washed then itās fine. we wash everything in steaming hot water with lots of soap and a splash of bleach so no problem for me

Idk I use whatever bowls we have for the dogs as long as they go through the dishwasherā¦ 
Soā¦I was bit by a cat and had antibiotic drip at er for 3 hour. Doc said it would be faster if it had been a dog but way worse had it been a human biteā¦soā¦

I wouldnāt have said a thing, wouldāve been too shocked. I would just decline to eat any and every thing that comes out of that kitchen. Dogs lick their own and other dogs butts. As long as itās washed properly, itās about as safe as eating after anyone I suppose but without knowing the household hygiene practices, Iām going to pass on any offerings from then on. Itās really just the thought of it for me lol

I donāt have a huge issue with it except that most people food isnāt meant for dogs, definitely not potato salad, I have more issue with the inevitable gas or diarrhea that is likely to follow said bowl licking. Heat kills all bacteria though and more then likely some sort of animal waste was used to grow the produce in your potato salad.

I dislike my animals eating out of any dishes. I only give them human food off a paper plate. I feel like it never gets clean enough especially with dogsā¦it always keeps a slimy film that smells like hot, gross dog breath. This is why I am a germaphobe and NEVER eat food other people bring.

Well considering I know what most PEOPLE do with their mouths, I wouldnāt think much of it being a dog; it is about the same. Either way itāll be cleaned and sanitized so whatās the big deal? I always put the food in the dogs bowl. I donāt like my animals eating/licking our dishes either, I think itās gross but thatās just my opinion
If the dog eats or drinks out of it, it now is considered the new dog dish. I donāt want to eat after the dog.
I always shared my ice cream cone with my dog I had, we had one once a week 
Didnāt bother me at allā¦I never let him lick the bowls or plates that was my job lol

I mean, idk about all ya all, but Iāve had some questionable finds in Tupperware at the back of my fridgeā¦. and then I dump it and wash it and use it again lol. I donāt see the dog licking the plate any worse than that, so 
as long as you donāt give them anything they canāt eat, of course.

I donāt think ethnicity is a factor here at all because I have Cherokee blood and I find it gross too. But then you see people letting their dogs lick 
them in their mouths too which is really gross and disgusting. I mean we all know what dogs lick all day and if these dog owners want the taste of what their dogs licks in their mouths too what can you say but

Well bowlās can be washed but dairy not goodā¦ But they do lick their butts etc and u let them lick ur faceā¦ cats step in their poo and walk around the house etcā¦ So itās ur opinion I guess I have a dog 4 cats and a snakeā¦ but clean constantly but I also use plant baby wipes for my cats to wash them downā¦
Bums me too, but not all of my grown kids.

Think about this. Eating out, we eat from plates , silverware, and glasses , others had used. We can only pray they were sterilized!!! Lol.

I read somewhere that thereās more bacteria in human mouths than dog mouthsā¦ Depends how well itās washed afterwards I guess. Iād be more worried about whether there was onion or garlic in the dish as they are both toxic to dogs.

My dishwasher has a sanitizer buttonā¦ honestly I get why people feel that way though because half the people in my house wonāt drink regular milk because it came from a dirty cows utters, itās just personal preference.

My partner hates it but myself i cant see the big deal. My dogs and cats lick my plate when im done i soak it then scrub it after. Id say its only gross if they lick it while youāre still eating off it or if you were planning to put more food on it before it was going to be washed

Dogs can carry the strep throat virus in their saliva without actually getting sick themselves. If you let one lick your mouth (double Fing gross ) or let it lick your dishes/utensils it can make you sick.
Even if your dishes are dishwasher sanitized I still wouldnāt risk it.

Itās not weird, itās actual preferred depending on the food. The more the dog cleans the less you have to, and no one likes doing dishes when the dish has food chunks on it.
