Well I thinks it’s disgusting, yes it’s going to be washed but to think that dog could have been licking itself beforehand, I do wash the dogs bowls in the same water that I wash the dishes in but AFTER all dishes are done,

The colour of both your skin is completely irrelevant. Also, my dog and cats do this. It’s gonna be washed anyway so why does it matter

That is nasty but that’s what they do , that’s how they live :woman_shrugging:t3::joy: each to there own

I’ve always put things down for my cats and dogs before things are washed…

Gross :face_vomiting: you are right

My dog eats out of my dishes before they are washed whatever is in their mouth is being cleaned off anyway

I’m sure you’ve licked worse than a dog licking out of a bowl

She said it was going to be washed. I don’t see the problem.

My dog always did this :woman_shrugging: they get washed after what’s the big deal.

Yes you’re over reacting. We grew up with dogs and we all let them do this. It’s really no big deal

Agree. It’s horrible!

Lots of people let their pets lick dishes before being washed but i personally thick its nasty

When I had a dog it had its own dishes to eat from and serving fork to dispense it’s food with so yes it’s a bit rank.

My animals are my pre wash cycle…

Why is it gross? Totally normal bud

Nasty. animals have their own dishes!

I feel like this is a piss take.

:joy: aslong as the bowl is being washed properly afterwards, and its nothing harmful to the dog whats the issue :woman_facepalming:t2: its not like anyone is going to be using it right after the dog before its washed. If anything surely it helps not scraping into the bin and can be washed straight away :ok_hand:t2:

I agree with you!! I think it’s absolutely disgusting :face_vomiting: Also, when people let cats on work surfaces etc :face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting:

What does color have to do with this?

I don’t do it unless it is on something going to be thrown away like paper plates, plastic

If it scares you, it means you don’t wash your dishes afterwards.
Hell, my dog is less toxic than many guests I’ve had.
And what difference does race make?

Yeah you are overreacting

Our dogs always had bowls plates cups etc…if you wash them properly there is no issue

Definitely overreacting. Especially if you have a dishwasher. It gets hot enough to kill any bacteria.

White people offended at this lol. POC are generally raised different, it’s a known fact

I don’t let my dog lick plates or bowls or my face. If I give her scraps, they get scraped into her bowl or hand fed to her.

It’s depends on how well you clean….my parents would have a fit actually my kids would too…. But I rinse my dishes with bleach water and then regular water….

Like you were done with the bowl and let the dog lick the rest out before you wash it? As long as you wash it well it’s not that big of a deal to me. But I adore my animals, the only thing I won’t let them do is lick my face.

Food for thought: while on appearance it’s pretty gross, if it’s being washed in a dishwasher after it’s going to kill everything. Ask yourself- when I go out to eat, do I know what has happened to this plate or silverware I’m eating on? No. Do I still eat it? More than likely. Have a conversation that it makes you uncomfortable and see where u compromise on the issue. Overreacting? Yes. Completely off base? No.

No biggie…its going in the dishwasher anyway…

Nope to dogs licking bowls.

Now did the dog lick the spoon when she was making the potato salad is the question.

My doc sits on the chair for his dinner, WITH US.

I don’t let my pets use our dishes, but it’s literally no different than old/moldy food left in a pot, bowl, etc and being washed. I use bleach in my dishwater so I know I get my dishes clean and dishwashers kill everything too. I think it’s just the thought, kind of like people thinking they’re “cleaning” their meat by running water over it. It’s all in their mind.
Humans put a lot worse than a dish licked by a dog that’s been washed in their mouths. :eggplant::peach::cherries: :joy:

I grew up in a white household with cats and dogs but they use their own dishes. Kinda gross. The lady I work for feeds the cat on her dishes but I’m not really down with that.

wash it good no problem

I’ve allowed my pets to eat out of same dish with me, small dog, cat in the past. . .

A human mouth is also disgusting and you let guests use your silverware :upside_down_face: use soap and hot water. The bowl is fine.

We do this but they go straight to the dish washer

The human mouth is worse than a dogs mouth, it’s going to be washed. If you had people over and they licked the bowl and then washed it….is that gross?

I don’t know any white person that doesn’t allow their pet to eat out of their bowl before it’s washed.

Geez, why have a dog if you aren’t going to let them have the scraps and residue off your plate? That’s called sharing! It’s no different than letting some booger-eating kid lick the beaters

I personally don’t do it :face_vomiting: but i have plenty of friends that allow their pets too lick the plates etc.

No as long as u don’t eat out of eat after the dog

Very gross, and it teaches your dogs horrible habits :face_vomiting:

Not sure why the race of the people involved was necessary to be brought up, but I’ll bite. It’s no different than washing old food out of the bowl. If people really think a dog is that gross, don’t have a dog.
…y’all out here complaining about dogs being gross…have you met children? Nasty

It’s unanimous you’re overreacting

Over reacting. It’s getting washed anyway so I’m confused what the problem is? Maybe if you’re not a dog person but ITS GETTING WASHED ANYWAY!

I think realistically this is going to be different for different people.

Personally? I wouldn’t.
The first reason…is actually for the dog’s well being. Onions, grapes, and chocolate are toxic to dogs. There’s others I’m sure are toxic…and others still that can/will upset their bellies.
I prefer to err on the side of caution unless it’s one specific food I know is completely safe…I wouldn’t risk it.
The second reason is because I’m just not comfortable with it. I won’t say it’s gross but it’s just not something that I personally would be ok with.

Realistically this is a difference in how y’all were raised. It’s ok. And if we’re honest it’s a small enough issue not to make a mountain out of.
As long as the dish is washed properly I wouldn’t make too big of a deal out of it.

Gross throw the bowl out.I was raised the dog has it’s bowls and I have mine.I just can’t eat after a dog

I personally think its gross, washed or not. :woman_shrugging:t2:

This has nothing to do with black or white.

I wouldn’t let a dog do that but everyone is different. It also makes a dog a “begging dog” who sits and watches you eat and I can’t stand that!
I have a friend who has a dog like that and I honestly don’t go to his house when he invited me for dinner bcuz of his begging dog. Ruins my meal. Complete with him letting his dog lick his plate and mine. Just gross.

Yeah it’s gross…but bleach it or spray with kitchen Lysol let sit and wash.

Your over reacting, what you should have been upset about is feeding the dog stuff like that! It is not good for them !

Omg lol. My dogs have always cleaned our plates my whole life. We just take off anything they can’t have. And they clean up the rest. I’ve always washed in extremely hot water with lots of soap so I fear no germs

We personally don’t do that but, you’re overreacting. Freak out bc the dog may have ingested something that would tear their belly up but, not bc he licked a bowl that can be washed. Now, if gf doesn’t wash dishes well, maybe.

First off why does race have to be brought into it what does being white or black have to do with a dog licking a bowl?

It’s empty the next step is to wash it in hot water

Totally overreacting

My dog eats off my fork  it’s not a race thing it’s a people thing! Some people care some don’t, everyone has different opinions about it!

You are overreacting, but I am sure that’s just the way your family thought about things. Let me reassure you that a bowl that is going to be washed does not become permanently nasty because a dog licked it, any more than if a human licked it. However, your reaction does not have anything to do with skin color, just with the way you were raised and the way you are. I have plenty of friends of all colors so I can say it more relates to how your mother or father thought and what your internal wiring tells you if something is gross or not.

Dishwashers have a sanitize cycle.

I think you are over reacting for sure.

You’re over reacting lol

My husband is like that too but I can’t stand it! Lol

Honestly, I would be more upset about the dog eating food that could potentially make them sick. The bowl licking, to me personally, is not a big deal because I’ve let my dog do that but ONLY with dog safe foods.

Ours do it every day. We wash the dish and don’t give it a second thought.

My dog licks out of a dish before it goes into the dishwasher at times

I don’t think it’s a matter of race… I’m white and don’t let my dogs lick dishes we eat from either  we’ve ALWAYS had dogs but they have specific dishes

I think it’s gross letting dogs eat off plates and bowls you eat from my sister allows it to happen at her home, I personally don’t see how anybody could when all I see my dog do all day long is licking her privates :face_vomiting:

Think about it, you eat from dishes in restaurants that who knows, what nasty people or disease people, have used. Also not knowing how clean they are being washed. Not even mention who handled your plate, the list goes on! On second thought, I may never eat out again !! :scream::nauseated_face:

Wouldn’t bother me as long as the dish was going to be washed. On the other hand, my husband would freak out! LOL

I use paper plates so my dog can eat out of it and throw it away

As long as you’re scrubbing the dishes with hot water and soap its fine. Now if you find that gross have a talk with your partner so they dont do it anymore. Also your dog shouldn’t be having most human foods anyway :woman_shrugging:

My dog is my family and can lick a bowl clean before I wash it.:stuck_out_tongue:

I think that’s disgusting… put it in a disposable bowl/plate/cup or even in their dog bowl… that is disgusting

Like an above comment says it teaches dog bad habit… they’ll start begging

I think it’s gross. Dogs have there own Bowls. But I’m different with my kitchen items anyways. My dish cloths get washed separate from any other linens. I once threw away my whole lot of them because someone threw them in with my bathtowels…
So ya I’d have freaked out too.

Oh come on you guys are over reacting

I personally find it disgusting

My wife said that when I was going to buy a set of used plates. She says don’t buy those people have eaten off them. I had to remind we go to restaurants all the time and they don’t give you a new plate each time. Took her a minute

:joy::rofl::joy: it gets washed. So what do you guys do if your kid licks it. Or better yet it ending up being a puke bowl. You freaking wash it. Ffs

No you’re not overreacting, my dogs eat her butt, I won’t let her lick my plates and bowls. There’s a reason they have dog bowls. You girlfriend should look more into that, that’s nasty af lol. I’m brown sooo🤷🏻‍♀️

My dogs do that all the time, what’s the big deal ,? She is right! It going in the dishwasher anyway! (The dish not the :dog2: :poodle: dog :dog:)

Who gives a fuck. Wash it. Get over it. People do way nastier shit in this world than a dog licking a bowl. Soap and water exist for a reason.

Some pple dont knw where to draw the line,u r not wrong!

It’s kinda gross but won’t kill ya!:joy:

We always let our dogs lick the bowls.

I’ve seen people do this all my life. As long as it’s put in the dishwasher I don’t see anything wrong with it. I’ve heard dogs mouths are cleaner than peoples.

Why your gonna wash it anyways.

It’s only horrible if you not planning on washing the bowl
