Yes my niece started at 8 almost 9.
I was 11 years old. 8 years old seems really young but I don’t kmow maybe take her to an gyno just to make sure
I would have her thyroid checked out to be safe as well, was told that could be a symptom!
I was 8 when I got mine for the first time but it was full blown and zero spotting. I had to use the heaviest pads right off the hop so it was brutal
See a doctor. There maybe other factors in play
8 seems young. Could be a few different things going on. I would take her to her doc
My daughter was 8 when she got her first one
I was 9 when i started mine. 2 of my daughters were also 9. We’re all a-ok.
My daughter started at 8. Doc said this is normal. That girls are starting younger and younger.
My grandma got hers at 8.
It’s all the chemicals and fake hormones put into our foods. My daughter got hers at 11 I was 13. We have similar body types. My niece was 10 or so I think.
I started in 6th grade I was 10. But also look at the changes between young girls now and us back then
My girls were that young also
Some girls just start young. But it’s normal to start around 4th/5th grade. That’s when we got the reproductive/body hygiene talk when I was in school lol As long as you talked to her there really is no reason to take her to the doctor. She doesn’t need to actively see a ob/gyn doctor until she is 21. Once she is of age to be sexually active (which statically is 12 now) then you can talk to her about possible birth control but you can go to her regular doctor for that. Good luck momma
Yes the normal ages are 8-12.
I couldn’t imagine having one at 9. I didn’t get mine till I was 17. I have 2 daughters, one just turned 7. Now I’m gonna be in a panic just waiting for that to happen so early haha.
I’m panicking now too as my daughter is turning 9 in 2 months time
Yes this is normal they usually start around 8 or 9 I was 9 when i started so its fine
I started at 9 and definitely didnt eat a bunch of hormone food, grew up poor on a working farm where we ate what we grew, with that being said it was still very weird for me at that age . Please talk to her extensively about how to take care of her hygene during that time.
I was 10, my oldest daughter was 11, middle daughter was 9 and youngest was 10. With all of the hormones in our food yes it’s normal
My daughter started 3 weeks before she turned 9. Thank goodness I had explained to her all about what a period is. The biggest part was I told her she would become a woman when she started. The day she came out of my aunt’s bathroom and shouted ‘Mom I’m a woman now!’…I was shocked lol. But shes now 31 and is doing fine!
My youngest daughter had her first period at 10…but she didn’t get it again till almost a year later.
I started mine at 9. I developed way early. I had b cups in 4th grade.
I started at 8. Very possible.
I started when I was 10 but my daughter was 12 but I had pubic hair at 7 xx
8 is on the young side, but not completely abnormal. Get her checked just in case
4 girls here. They all start younger and younger. Doc said average is + /- 2/3 years from when you started
I started at 8 but i formed pcos so then i would only get 1 period. A year and skipped a year from 11 to 12
I started at 9 or 10
I started just before I turned 10
I got mine at 8. I have endometriosis. No one could figure out why my periods were so bad or why they started so young till I finally got my diagnosis at 17 year old.
Please get her to doc. You don’t want her to stop growing taller at this age, which could happen.
I started at 8 but I remember getting menstural cramps on 1st and 2nd days.
I got mine late (14) I would make an appointment just to have her checked out and make sure everything is normal. My friend started at 10 and the doctor said it wasn’t normal and was a hormonal imbalance for her, and she needed medication. Not that that’s everyone’s truth. That’s just what happened to her
Every child is different my daughter started hers at 10 years old they were quite irregular till she was 11 then they came monthly. Completely normal.
I have been told the girls now a days are getting their periods younger because of all the hormones in the food
3 daughters, the oldest started at 13, and the youngest was 11. I would not worry.
I got mine at her age & I have endometriosis x
Might be from eating food and animals that were given hormones…jk… I’ve herd of a bit of women that started this early.
I got mine at 9. But I went undiagnosed with endometriosis til I was in my 20’s
My daughter is 6 and shes growing hair everywhere . i told her about periods and shes getting boob buds . so now she needs to wear a bra on some kind
My daughter was barely 10 so it happens
My daughters 9 1/2 and yep all the same symptoms , multiple friend said their daughters were around the same age . Have a talk with her and make her a little kit , extra underwear and a pad . Talk to her doctor as well , good luck mama
I would definitely take her to the pediatrician and talk about this. There’s something called precocious puberty.
I was 10 when I started mine so I think she’s okay
All I know is one of my daughters started her period at 8 aswell…it is young but not surprising considering all the hormones etc put in our food these days
My daughter started at 9 years old.
I started at 9. I had heavy flows and had to be sent home from school frequently. Every girl is different. It sounds like she’s got the puberty train a little early but it wouldn’t hurt to get her established with a GYN.
Good point on hormones in food!
Have you thought about skincare & beauty products too? What’s been put on your largest organ since birth?
I would talk to your pediatrician because that seems pretty young. They may then recommend you see a pediatric endocrinologist.
Hormones in our food have been affecting our young girls for years. My daughter is 30 now. I worried when she was 8 after she showed signs of puberty. Dr gave her injections to slow her growth and the hormones.
It came with a price… she now has cysts on her ovaries
from those injections. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
It is sad that our government allows these hormones to be added… knowing how it can effect us.
Short height. Children with precocious puberty may grow quickly at first and be tall, compared with their peers. But, because their bones mature more quickly than normal, they often stop growing earlier than usual. This can cause them to be shorter than average as adults. Early treatment of precocious puberty, especially when it occurs in very young children, can help them grow taller than they would without treatment.
It’s certainly possible, but dang. Poor girl. I was 10.
I started mine at 10. I think puberty hits every girl differently some earlier than expected.
I started my period when I was 9 I was so unprepared emotionally but apart from that it was fine. I also developed breasts and other puberty things at a young age. I have never had any problems with this. I have given birth to children fine and my periods are fine too. Every girl is different even girls in the same family
I started mine at 9 I was in the 4th grade and my teacher thought I had appendicitis until I went to the bathroom and was bleeding.
My daughter stsrted hers when she was 10
That is way to young !!! I was 14 when I got mine. These little girls are growing up way too fast
i was 9 or 10 and in 4th grade so no I don’t think it’s too young
I was 9 when I started mine. Every girl is different.
I started mine the morning of my 8th birthday. I am also 5’11 so my growth definitely wasnt stunted.
9 when I started mine. My sister started when she was 8
My daughter is 16 and hasn’t started
It goes by the child’s weight. Please do not panic
Sometimes it’s also a sign that someone is touching her
I started mine when I was 8 she should be fine
I started mine in the second grade!
I was 11, two weeks after my mom had handed me a little book about my period. Since then girls have gotten younger, I remember when my best’s friend’s niece started puberty in 2nd grade.
Hormones in milk and meat are also contributing to girls starting sooner.
It’s normal. Some kids just do it sooner than others.
I dont think it would hurt to see a doctor. The office we have seen says 8 is early for puberty and refer them to a child endocrinologist. It definitely can happen and be normal for some, they say it also usually follows the mothers same pattern. Every body is different so I wouldn’t panic but I would still ask a doctor to be sure!
I started mine when I was 9.
I don’t think this is a conversation for social media I would direct questions like this for your pediatrician.
Someone who study women’s menstrual cycle yes it is normal. Many factors can effect why a child would get it earlier including genetics , locations , weight … there is some miss information on this thread base on previous outdated information. Please talk to the child’s pediatrician about it for more information. I would also read a book and make sure you explain to your daughter what her period is and what’s going on.
My friend did at 9 yes.
Check with the doctor. It will give you peace of mind.
Yes this is normal now! Pediatrician said around 9 is the new normal!
I started wearing a bra at 5 and started at 8 also. Did testing and all that and everything was ok just an early starter. So was my sister and my daughter
I was 8 when I started my period.
Could have started early since your other daughter is hormonal and periods can line up. If she is already developing public hair she could very well just be starting. It also goes by family on the father’s side. My daughter started at 11 I wasn’t until 13.
My friend got hers when she was 7 and the doctor said she’s fine, she was just developing faster. Some girls start sooner than others.
I was 7 just shy of 8, but still 7. I seemed to develop fast esp for my age. I remember having to wear a bra in 2nd/3rd grade and by 4Th grade was well developed and all was in full swing. I have been told my body is going to start menopause early bc there are signs (by a dr) I’m 36 now. It happens. Unfortunately I was the only one in my friends group that this happened to, everyone else was way later in jr high or even early high school… it can be really embarrassing and even confusing at a such a young age. It’s super awesome that you have already communicated with her and that she is aware of everything that’s going on with her body. I was very mature for my age also, that’s a whole diff story but I was forced to grow up by a few other means… but I still remember being kinda scared when it happens. Luckily she is very light right now, one thing I’ll ad is that younger girl seem to have really rough and very heavy (with lots of cramping) cycles. Some mothers aren’t keen on putting their young daughter on birth control and I totally get that, however I was on it by 11 just to help my periods bc they were so intense. No one has to know but you and her it can just be like another medicine and very low key. I know others can judge harshly on this as well. So good luck momma, bless her heart welcome to womanhood sweet girl and hugs your way!
I started at 8
In school
And the nurse gave me a tampon but didnt tell me how to use it so I put the whole thing in and was in pain all day
Ive already been teaching my 8 year old about all of it so if she gets hers early she’ll know what to do
I was nine. My daughter just started hers this year a month before her ninth bday. Everything else started last year. Her Dr has went ahead and referred her to an endocrinologist just to check on everything regarding her hormones.
A friend at school started at 9
Y’all are making me feel old when I got mine I was 15… I’m a mom to three girls (5, 4, and 2)
I was 9 when i started mine
I had one sister start at 8 and one that didnt start tell she was 16 me 11
I was 11 and know someone who was around 9. Definitely talk to her doctor and start preparing her mentally. They just took me to the store and let me pick something without explaining them to me.
Dr. Said 8 is normal for puberty to start when I asked if it was normal my kiddo needed deodorant already
Yes this is normal I was also 8 when I started my period.
I was also 9 it’s fine. Just make sure she knows how to use the products and take care of herself, womanhood is here
I was 15. I can’t imagine being 8 and having to deal with a period.
I was 8 when I started mine
Yes it’s normal every girl is different some can start as early as 8 I did and some start as
Late as 16 so it all depends on various factors genes and maybe even mothers and grandmothers and when they had there’s I have 4 girls to out of 4 have there periods one started at 9 right after puberty one started at 10 so I’m not suprised my 3 daughter hasn’t started but she be 10 soon and my youngest is 6 so she has a while plus. Honestly as soon as a girl gets puberty period comes right after good luck
Its normal my daughter started at 9 but started puberty at 8 I called the doctor he said this was normal and that she’s ok
My daughter’s dr told me she could start her’s anywhere from 9 to 11
I was 11 or 12. It’s normal.
Youngest I’ve known was 10 I was 14 my sister was 16 I think
This is a really big fear of mine my daughter is 8 too and I worry about her starting young. It seems like it gets younger and younger. My friends and I were all around 11-13, but my sisters daughters were as early as 9 I believe. I know it’s like biological progression but these little girls are practically babies.
