My 9 year old still wets the bed: Advice?

Anyones 9 year old still wet the bed? What can I do about this? I try not to mention it and make him feel bad. But I’m honestly over constantly washing bedding.

Stop his fluid intake just after dinner, and start waking him up a couple hours after he goes to sleep and make him go pee. After a while it’ll become a routine and his body might start waking him up on it’s own to use the restroom. Also instead of sheets get a waterproof mattress cover with the fabric covering so that’s all you have to strip off the bed and wash if he does still have an accident at night instead of a whole set of sheets

My daughter wet the bed until she was almost 10. I asked her doctor about it and she said they have to make a chemical that tells them to wake up and go to the bathroom and sometimes it doesn’t happen even into their teens.

Could be pure laziness. Stick a toddler potty in their room. I’m 23 and I will admit, when I was like 7 or 8 I would pee the bed all the time and just scoot over because I was too lazy to walk to the bathroom. Toddler potty in the room, try it.

My 8 year old still does as well. But I buy good nights as it is so much easier then having him wake up in a wet bed. The doctor said he will grow out of it as his body grows

Talk with your pediatrician. It could be something physical where he can’t fully empty his bladder. My 8 year old is on medication to help with bed wetting.

Speak with his pediatrician??

Call your doctor! Bedwetting is a red flag for diabetes. Rule out any medical causes first, it could save his life. Then explore mental causes; stress, depression, bullying, behavioral, etc.
If none of the above, then all you can do is help him to remember, but don’t shame him. It’s probably embarrassing and stressful enough, this battle isn’t yours or his alone.

My child did in to the teens. It is not something you can change. They grow out of it. I think it is a chemical in their brain that is slow developing. I know it’s hard to keep up but unfortunately there is no way to keep.it from happening. Until they out grow it. But if you want to wake them up every couple hours for a bathroom trip try that.
