My daughters ears have been hurting: Advice?

My daughter has had 4 episodes within 5 months with painful runny ears. Monday, her Dr looked into her ear, and said she had way too much fluid on her ear for her to see whether or not she has an ear infection, so she then states " were having a antibiotics shortage", but due to me not being able to see whether or not her ear is infected, I’m just going to prescribe her antibiotics again, even though she was on them in November. But, I also want you to " flush her ears at home" after her antibiotics are finished or she will get an infection if you flush her ears before… Oh course I don’t feel completely comfortable doing this, and I don’t understand why the Dr didn’t flush them for me in the office. Anyways, My daughter is 3, she’s going to an ENT today, and I’m just curious… any other mom experienced their child under 3, having constant runny ears, and it lasts for weeks, and nothing helps? I do hope the ENT will help today.

Definitely go to an ENT. My daughter at the age wasn’t draining the fluid from her ears and it was causing hearing loss… when medication didn’t help… he suggested tunes. And it was the best thing we ever did for her… thankfully most of her hearing was restored. The ENT was angry at the pediatrician, because he should have seen this was a problem long before she failed her hearing test at preschool.

Are her ears pierced? I was allergic to my earrings. All of my earrings as a child.

Yep. My son got tubes put in his ears at like 18 months. Best thing I ever did. One fell out after about a year, the other just fell out within the last month. No issues.

My daughter is 3 she has suffered constantly with her ear infection since being born she’s under ent , ent like to see a number of ear infections before they do anything they wil also send for hearing tests to rule that out my daughter wad out on 9 weeks of antibiotics by ent , they made her sick so had to stop them, they was consumplating putting grommets in her ears but recently she hasn’t been getting them as often x

My son did around that age, his ear drum would perforate and the ear fluid would leak before we even knew he was sick, he wouldn’t tell us… but we must have went once a month for 5 months…
they said it wasn’t enough to refer him to an ENT, but it did end up stopping. He’s almost 7 and hasn’t had one in a year or so

When I was a kid, literally nothing worked. Mine were so bad, I missed so much school cause of it & they would constantly drain. I was going to have a surgery that would take 3 months to heal, but they ended up putting me on adult antibiotics & it finally worked!

Ask them about removing her adenoids! My daughter had terrible ear infections with two sets of tubes and once we got her adenoids out they stopped.

My little had to have tubes put in. He had been on multiple rounds of antibiotics because they weren’t going away and you can’t repeat the same one within 30 days and he is allergic to a few so it made them super hard to treat. He’s had one infection since tubs and we go to ENT for regular checks and they give drop antibiotics so it goes straight to the source

Just a suggestion… a lot of kids get ear infections after swimming. If your child is doing swimming lessons maybe try putting ear plugs in while she’s in the water and see if that lessens the occurrence of these episodes

I wonder if she has glue ear I would definitely get her checked out

My daughter just turned 2 in Nov and had tubes put in her ears in aug

Please get the ENT to put tubes in asap, this crap causes hearing and nerve damage, I have dealt with this for years and now 30 years later I have a hard of hearing son, the doctors at the clinic just kept shoving antibiotics at us every 2 weeks, when we finally got to the ENT he was 80% deaf in the right ear & 90% in the left ear the ENT stated he had glue ear which is due to the fluid hardening behind the ear drum, my son now has nerve damage and audio processing disorder. this included years of speech therapy, developmental learning loss. Please don’t let this go on your child’s life depends on it!!!

My son kept getting ear infections at that age esp double ear inf. So they put tubes in his years.
