You can do the always ultra light pads. Introducing pads before tampons is usually more comfortable.
The care and keeping of you series are amazing My daughter is 11 and just got hers. We are doing pads right now but will be introducing tampons soon.
Yes!! They still do and tampons are scary for young girls. Until she confronts you about wanting to make the switch buy her pads. Idk how big she is but my niece is 9 and has stock in case she starts. She said the long ones are too big. She likes the regular flow/sized ones.
Iâve always used pads. I donât like tampons.
They have pads for teens! When I started my period I used those because they fit better!
Iâm 27 and prefer pads always have
Period panties are freaking awesome
Get her some period underwear as well theyâre great for young kids
Try the Always flexfoam. They are much more comfortable and absorbent!!!
Yes! Iâm 25 years old and REFUSE to use anything but pads. Tampons make me cramp so bad!!
No judgment my my daughter will soon to be ten and she definitely will not be using tampons. Yes I do but I will not allow her to at that age. U by Kotex pad are awesome flat and super absorbent.
I still pads! I love them. I canât use tampons anyway cuz of blood issues
They sell ones for teens. Kotex has a good one. Thatâs what I got my 12 year old.
Yes, my daughter started young, 9. Dr said pads until teenage years, unfortunately.
Yes they should be at that age, Iâm so sorry she has started just so young
I use cloth pads. I had wanted to use them for a while just never did then my cousin was having issues and I its staed cloth ones help with less cramps so we tried them. She absolutely loves them better and has less pain during period. I went from 5+ days and 3 days of periods and more no itchiness. I also make them so of my cousin happens to forget to wash them she just tosses them and I make her more. Happened once
I suggest buying several different types and letting her decide what she likes. My mom always got us what she used (cardboard applicator and plastic feeling huge padsđĽ´) once I found plastic tampons and cotton pads in high school I was wayyy less miserable.
My 19 year old still uses pads! Ultra thin are great and they have different sizes. Just remind her and inform her how important it is to change it often.
Poise have were wonderful for my oldest. Yes I know they are directly meant for period, but less leakage if any at all. & in recent years Iâve turned to solely those as it seems using a pad lets everything it faster & my cycles are shorter. Poise for me too. Iâve never used anything larger than 2 not too thick & bulky & for long rides & bed time I use the long ones. I hope this helps. I have an 11 year old & Iâm dreading this day. As my oldest didnât start until 13/14 years old. But it seems girls start so much earlier these days. Hope that helps hun. Oh yeah & at 25 she still goes to those, as over the years she tried all kinds but found Poise were the best option. Hope that helps.
Yes. My 14 year old does. She tried tampons and did like them and I told her itâs fine try them again whenever sheâs feels more comfortable. I am 52 and always used pads before hysterectomy. Let her use whatever she is comfortable with.
My youngest started hers and she does use pads but I also bought a few of the underwear from This place
And she likes to use them especially around its time for her period in case it starts at school. They are kind of expensive but worth it for her not to have an embarrassing moment at school.
Flex foams r amazing. Lthough my daughter likes the thicker ones walmart brand
Thatâs all me and my 4 girls use ⌠I would recommend the Always thin overnights just so she doesnât have to experience any accidents that can be traumatizing and embarrassing for a little oneđ
I remember that kotex and different co had maxie pad starter kits. I think u can buy some now- just google it. There are books, panties, cramp pain meds, etcâŚ
Your pediatrician or pharmacist may have a book on menstruation. They still print them. Stay away from tampons until they are older. Besides that the hymen has to broken enough to get them in.
Yes, my daughter uses pads. I also recommend downloading a period tracker app on your phone to help with when her period should start so sheâll when to start preparing for it to start. It helps minimize surprises.
Mine used thinner pads to start with and switched to tampons around 13-14 while she was with her cousins. They instructed her how to use. When she returned homeâŚwe discussed safety aspects of using them and flow differences.
There are thinner pads that work just as well so she wonât feel like people can see, they are chlorine free at Walmart and come in a bag I recommend those
Yes. Safest to use is a pad. Just show her how to put on and how to dispose. Show her how often to change and now to always carry an emergency one and a change of undies and pants in her bag in case of accidents
They actually have period panty u can buy her they are washable so she wonât have any bleed threw at school also my daughter just started at ten and I have noticed she doesnât like the long pads buy u for teens and also buy the panty liners same brand the pads are shorter for their bodyâs
Yes , I am a school nurse . My older high school girls use mostly tampons but we also still go through many pads . Maybe when she gets older introduce her to tampons or if she is in sports
Iâm sorry to laugh
Yes people still use Maxi pads⌠Iâm not sure what to tell u about a book⌠My daughter and I have had regular talks about it since she was 7 because I started at 7 or 8
If I can help let me know
Yes my daughter is also ten I talked to her about the possibility of her starting her period and we went to the store and bought pads. She carries a few in her bag that way she is prepared.
Iâm 28 and I still only use pads tampons suck Iâll use maybe if going visit family during summer to swim for that time
Go to any drug store or Wal-Mart and youâll see MANY kinds of pads. If people werenât using them, I doubt there would be that many.
Pads. Couldnât wear tampons. All young girls should wear pads.
Make sure to get the night time ones! Theyâre longer to protect from leakage.
Get her a pair of period panties with some smaller pads to start.
Iâm 49 and have super light periods that arenât enough for thicker pads, but a little more than a panty liner so I just double panty liner (side by side with some overlap)
Yes women still use pads. Thats what she needs. Shes too young for tampons. They make smaller ones for her
Both of my girls use pads. I personally donât trust tampons but thatâs up to them to decide when they get older if they want to use them or not. But they prefer pads. They are 10 & 12.
They have pads just for teen
Yes!!! Let her decide if she eventually wants to use a tampon.
I use pads still but also a tampon at the same time
Yes, for that age pads
Usw cotex pads or stayfree
I only use pads. And at 10, tampons imo shouldnt be used yet.
I use pads And Iâm 33. I canât use tampons because they make me cramp super bad.
Girls should wear a pad until theyâre 15 or 16
Thatâs all my girls use.
Period panties by thinx, you can thank me later
Yes, are you a male? Because a woman would know.
Look into Period underwear.
Period undies!!! Soooòo many out there now!! ModiBodi do a teen range, Ruby, Thinx, Bonds⌠Im sure there are more!!
I bought these for my daughter. There are several volumes. She loved reading them! And always start out with pads.
Tbh I would explain what each one does and let her chose what she likes best. I started on pads the first few days and I hated it. We went to the pool and I had to use a tampon and I havenât gone back to pads since. They also have small sizes for tampons.
I used pads until I was in college. My mom used pads. I didnât know how to use a tampon until a friend of mine showed me when I was 19. Please give her options in a few years, but as of right now⌠pads are the go-to for younger women/children. I just feel like a tampon wouldâve hurt me at 10, but I wouldâve liked my mom to introduced to tampons around 16 instead of a friend having to. Good luck!
My mom made me a first period bag it had Motrin for cramps, a couple treats (chocolate, peanut butter crackers, and water flavoring) and both tampons and pads- she explained how each one worked, taught me how to tell if the tampon was in right (if it hurts itâs too big or not in correctly) and let me decide on my own which ones I would want to use. She also put in panty liners for âover flowâ just in case so I wouldnât bleed through
I am 50 years old and started when I was 10. Thatâs so horrible. I never used tamponsâŚever. Always makes a variety of sizes thicknesses.
Tampons have been painful for me ever since i gave birth, funnily enough. So itâs U by Kotex pads for me unless i have a super heavy period which is rare.
I would definitely start out with pads until she gets âuse to her flowâ I know it changes but just in general. When she wants to move to tampons then go for it. But starting out for me tampons were intimidating and I didnât understand how to use them. (I was 14 AND had 3 sisters. Still intimidating)
Yes women still use pads, my 14 yr old does not want to use tampons so we got a pack of each type of pads and she went and found the best one and now I just stock up on them.
Always has pads for teens. I wouldnât let a 10 year old use a tampon until she gets used to things
Start with pads and if she wants to learn about tampons later then have that talk. Plus, a girl should never sleep in a tampon. If you leave it in too long she can develop toxic shock syndrome because the blood needs to come out. Now they have underwear that soaks up the blood too. So many things available. Depending on her flow will depend on what you need to buy. And in each stage of the flow will depend on what she needs. I usually use regular light and then transition to pantiliners when itâs almost gone. Shes gonna need to see what she likes and is comfortable with. Donât forget if she gets cramps dark chocolate and ibuprofen! Be prepared. There are ingredients in dark chocolate that actually help with cramps. When I was 13 I had cramps so bad I would throw up. So have these things around.
yes they do. and it doesnât matter tick or thin. whatever they are comfortable with. Mine uses pads and tampons on her heaviest days. I also bought her period panties that help with avoiding embarrassing incidents in school. she wears them with her pads.
I think Always has a teen version(smaller pads) and maybe do a joint day trip to Barnes and Nobel to get a book on puberty together and mom and daughter spend the date learning together about it. It also doesnât hurt to additionally bring her to the Pediatrician to they can also explain the puberty process again with her and explain how the body works! Good lucky momma!
Ummm⌠I used pads. I donât like tampons unless I have too. Itâs whatever she prefers. They make huge mattresses and tiny thin ones. Itâs whatever she prefers.
I wear pads and always will. I wouldnât let my daughter use tampons either until she has the maturity to remember to switch them out and not just leave them in. I watched a show and a teenager died for Toxic Shock Syndrome and been traumatized ever since
As a 5th grade teacher I have seen lots of girls go through this experience and pads are all of their preferred choice. Thatâs what they bring from home, itâs what the nurse has on hand, and itâs what I keep in the classroom for their emergencies.
I still use pads I would definitely start her off that way and introduce tampons when she is a little older. It took me a while to want to use them.
I vote for thin, good quality pads. Change very often.
Iâd start with pads. Thatâs what I started with. I didnât use tampons unless I was going swimming
Yes my niece just started hers last week , she was wearing pads.
As for me I started with pads too, was older when I tried tampons. I use both now
35 and all I use are pads. Never used anything different. Tampons kinda scare me after stories Iâve heard.
Iâm 28⌠and I still prefer pads over tampons most of the time.
I would start with pads and move her to a Diva cup. Tampons are bad for you and cause many vaginal issues. I
Reality hit that im gonna go through this sooner than i plan onâŚ
I got my daughter (10) period panties and teen pads.
She doesnât have to bleed as heavily if she doesnât want to or for as long. Some doctors will recommend birth control pills and to skip the sugar pills completely (the period week pills) or to only take half then start the next week early.
Check any market or big box store for the wall of pads.
Stop linking virginity/sexuality with tampons! Seriously! And what happened to letting girls make an informed decision about THEIR body & needs?? Jeezus! The comments here are just awful. Making your daughters wear pads because you are worried about her hymen?! Do some research for Peteâs sake! Feel sorry for all these girls who didnât get to choose their period products.
