Natural treatments for mental health?

Also please do some research on CBD oil it works for me. And I tried to commit suicide four times but it gets better every day

Find the trigger! I was diagnosed at 14 with anxiety and depression and I did self harm. There were things that triggered it and made it bad! Keep an eye on things and see if you notice something thatā€™s making it worse for her!

I personally tried this route and spent lots of money trying to find a natural herb it didnt help me. The best thing is counseling and trying to find the best pharmaceutical med and pray she does not have to go thru so many to get the right med. Best wishes

Have her start following The Holistic Psychologist on Instagram and she can begin her heeling journey on her own time and with privacy. Traditional practice isnā€™t for everyone.

Start with a heavy metal tests then educate yourself on vaccines. Then if she deals with stress and if not contraindicated for her start implementing magnesium in her diet and have her levels checked routinely. What I do that helps my son is if he starts self harming which for him is very unusual I review his medication list. He has epilepsy so over the years have had to request a different med. Keppra was a big issue and lamotrigine.

I heard that Whole Foods diet, raw foods and no to little mean is good to balance hormonesā€¦

I speak to a therapist weekly. Love it. Did it in person before pandemic now over phone. She helps :100::100:more than medication ever could!!

Find a kinesiologist they might be able to help

St Johnā€™s Wort for depression

Maybe look into essential oils, and ashwaganda supplements

Please dont try to fix this with OTC cures. She needs real help before this gets worse. Youā€™re not a doctor, youā€™re her mother. Seek help for her. Good luck.

I have heard people with depression are lacking in vitamins. I am not sure but I thought I remembered it being magnesium and another oneā€¦I would go to a really good vitamin store and ask.

Book her with a Naturopath. And buy her this book it will help her understand her panic and anxiety attacks better.
But I also recommend she sees a counselor or psychologist/psychiatrist as talk therapy is very helpful and it could be a more serious illness.

Thiamine or DSF formula by nutriwest.

See a holistic natrualpath doctor.

Antidepressants do not work.

She needs to learn how to deal with these flare ups but if she is on any medication such as birth control that could be causing it. I was on one for my anemia and I wanted to throw myself down the stairs daily bc it was nothing but panic and anxiety attacks and night terrors when I was sleeping. Changed meds i got my life back.

Get her to a chiropractor too. The sympathetic nervous system is in the thoracic spine. If this is off in anyway it can also cause these flare ups bc it tripping the fight or flight. Knowing you have no reason to be anxious but yet you feel this way only makes matters worse.

Please insist she have a 4 or 6-hr glucose tolerance test (GTT) to test for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which can cause all these symptoms. Sugar, junk food, and other simple carbs can cause this and propituate it. Hypoglycemia affects the entire beingā€“head to toe. Do not believe anyone, including doctors, who say itā€™s rare. It is NOT! A huge percentage of type 2 diabetics were hypoglycemic before their pancreas wore out and they became diabetic. Doctors and ā€œbig pharmaā€ donā€™t make much off of hypoglycemia, but most diabetics are under doctorsā€™ treatment for the rest of their born days. There are numerous books and info on line. Please do not rule out this possibility that this may be the source of the problem or contribute to it. Itā€™s treated by eating certain foods and abstaining from certain foods. Please donā€™t ask the internet. Consult with a ND (Naturopathic) to start her on a course of healing. As someone who has suffered with mental health (anxiety, PTSD, depression) I can tell you that yoga helped me a lot through meditation and self awarenessā€¦plus exercise. Most of these feelings come from unresolved trauma and she may also need a counsellor butā€¦I would be talking to an ND

Coming from someone with clinical depression and anxiety ā€¦
Let her take the pills. Homeopathic is a great way to treat seasonal depression and anxiety.

Hers sounds like itā€™s her to stay.

Wellbutrin was the easiest for me.

Please do not not allow your daughter to get the help she needs.

Itā€™s a chemical imbalance in the brain.
All the vitamins in the world cannot fix the that.

Please allow her try the meds and let her feel somewhat normal.

Taken by px and under a drs supervision she should be fine.

As you have already found out, it can be critically important to get help for this condition. The medicine to help control these thoughts can sometime cause unwanted weight gain, but if itā€™s a choice between a few extra pounds, and being able to function well in your world, the trade off seems worth it. Please continue your search for non-medical controls. And of course, she needs an active hobby such as taking a brisk walk around the block almost every day, or at the park. With a walking partner, if at all possible. Donā€™t retreat, advance in the world. Others will have more specific experience to relate.

As a Christian mother who has experience life without God . All I can tell you is that, if you want a healthy family , mentally , physically and spiritually. God is always the option , and 100% positive that he will make a way and heal her . Anti depressants may help, but it wonā€™t ever take it away. God will. God will take it away if we only opened our hearts and let him in.

I myself use medical MMJ . When I feel extremely overwhelmed with emotions and feel like everything is just going fast I canā€™t think straight or really function well . I will smoke just enough to feel things slow down . My mind isnā€™t racing , my heart rate has slowed down , my body feels relaxed and Iā€™m finally able to process the things in my head . Iā€™ve tried lots a things for my anxiety and depression and this is the one things that helps me most .

Behavioral therapy. You donā€™t need to be put on medication to get medical help for mental health.

Look for a behavioral health specialist in your area. You have to find the root cause of the issues. Thereā€™s SO many!! I literally just went to a new behavioral health specialist yesterday. What mood disorder does she have? Thatā€™s the answer to all the issues. You wonā€™t get any true help without a diagnosis. Naturally, I have a diet, exercises, aromatherapy, crystals, diary & meditation. Smells can help send calming scents to the brain such as lavenderā€¦ Crystals, some donā€™t believe but it will give her something to focus good energy on & negative energy awayā€¦ A diary is always perfect to write down every thought, including what scares her, bad thoughts because when she does get that therapist, she can elaborate!! A good diet is because your gut is your second brain, itā€™s going to send her good signals if sheā€™s taking care of herself, the medication that she needs will cause issues such as Iā€™m on Trintellix, I only have an upset stomach on it, your gut knows something isnā€™t right in it but I can take nausea meds if it gets too bad. BUT I donā€™t recommend my medication because mine is right for MY disorders. You have to find hers, itā€™s so, so important for her mental health!! You may have to try & try againā€¦ mental health is so tricky & misunderstood but itā€™s one very important thing to never give up on no matter how frustrating it can get!! Always tell said doctor that the medicine is making her feel any type of way. Sorry this was so long but Iā€™m studying behavioral health, Iā€™m very passionate about it! I wish her happy days!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Also; you can message me anytime! I have a very similar story to hers. A therapist will listen, they want to help!!

I have inattentive adhd and server anxiety and depression because of it. I take generic zoloft. It helps me quite a bit but everyone is different. Im 23 and have had the problems as long as I can remember.

Research grounding techniques and meditation.

Over anything a therapist is needed. They need to get to the point of why sheā€™s having the panic attacks. Any remedy will just be a bandaid and wonā€™t help with the real issue of why they are happening.

Have her vitamin d levels checked. Also a French bull dog has helped me so much. Sometimes a therapy animal can help.

Really do your research on the therapist but even if theyā€™re there for you to talk about your feelings doesnt mean it doesnt get reported. I was 17 when I got sent to the hospital for almost a week and that experience was horrible. Got out and seen a therapist two days later and I told her how it made me feel being in there and the experience and she sent me to another one that day. I didnt trust therapists after that. Listen to your daughters concerns and he fears. If she doesnā€™t have a good feeling about the therapist listen to her. She needs to be comfortable with the person and open up slowly. Its a process and everyone needs to be patient. Its also a hit and miss with antidepressants. For me they made me worse, for others they helped.

Magnesium works great for anxiety and so does b complexā€¦ CBD oil is okay but stay away from and herbal vitamins. I have schizoaffective disorder and if I take herbal vitamins it worsens my illness and even though she doesnā€™t have what I do, my doctor made sure to fill me in about them. The doctors will prescribe her something like visceral or Zoloft which are great meds and sometimes you donā€™t have a choice but to take the prescription meds if sheā€™s really suffering. Magnesium should be taken at night!

Honestly itā€™s all trial and error with antidepressants. My husband was on and off them for awhile for his severe anxiety and after trying about 3, he finally found one that worked and only used them for about a year. It was tough for him for sure, but we made it through it together and it brought us alot closer at the time. Also, it was encouraged to find healthy outlets/hobbies.
For example, cooking, or learning a language, film, or even gaming. I know it may sound kind of cliche but it really gave him something to focus on and find enjoyment in. It was also something we we could do together. Now heā€™s doing alot better, still struggles of course, but itā€™s a long journey. We do literally everything together and itā€™s been fun! I hope this helps somehow.

In the vitamins section at any good drug store you can find something called L-Theanine. Iā€™ve struggled with anxiety, and depression for years this has been the only thing to work for me. There also teas that contain this that work well.

As a self harmer of 19 yearsā€¦ I guarantee you, nothing homeopathic is going to work. She needs actual anti depressants. Not only that, but she needs to be properly evaluated to make sure they have proper diagnosis. Most self harmers have Borderline Personality Disorder. Not in all cases though. But if thatā€™s the case, more than just anti depressants are needed. I also got my psych degree a few years back and please dont leave this to chance. Iā€™ve experienced this personally and it will only get worse if you just let it progress. Proper medication is important. I take CBD and have tried vitamins, herbs etc and it helps with my anxiety, but it does absolutely nothing for thoughts of self harm and/or suicide. Those emotions are too strong for things like that to have an effect.

You can get a blood test that can tell which medications will work best for her, not sure what itā€™s called but any health care professional should know what youā€™re talking about.

Try something more holistic like CBD!

My opinion is that this is not a question for the internet. There are Professionals that deal in natural practice.

I use marijuana for it IV dealt with this since high school

Exercise regularly is a huge help

Vitamin d levels checked, regular excersise,

CBD oil . Check out Harmony brand . Give the company a call they can answer any questions or concerns u have and help with dosing instructions. Certified organic owner of company has a child with special needs . They provide safe effective products we have been using for years

Vitamin B12 daily. Workout routine, LESS PHONE/SOCIAL MEDIA TIME

Check out Rowe Casa Organics

They also have a Facebook page that will give you all the information. Rowe Casa Organics VIP

I use several of their products and they really help!!

I come from a place of love as a fellow mother when I give my advice. My 16 year old nephew is dealing with this same issue. I can recommend to you all types of natural herbs to take. As a nutritionist/herbalist. When it comes to this issue, and the fact that your child has chosen self harm before, itā€™s important to get her in therapy of some sort. They have all the tools, things that we donā€™t understand, that can help. My nephew was in out patient therapy for a month. Obviously thatā€™s our biggest fear, that our babies are in this position. There are several medications that your child can take that are all natural, keep in mind, itā€™s a guessing game with any medicine. You must reach the root problem of whatā€™s going on with your child, then chose how to medicate. With western medicine, we have several studies that help guide, as to what may help with anxiety and depression for teens and young adults. In my opinion, you need to speak to those professionals as well.

Ok. I taught myself to crochet/knit to help my anxiety, I am currently on Celexa which has helped me so much for my depression (which is different from person to person). My doctor is all about taking healthier prescriptions so she thought Celexa was a good one.

But me crocheting keeps my mind busy, focusing on how many stitches are there and how many rows Iā€™ve done. Then the outcome just makes me happy, then on to my next project. (Which I have ADHD so I have so many projects started but almost finished).

I am so very sorry . Praying for your daughter! I do advise you to seek psychological care ASAP . I take cymbalta and only have a dry mouth with that . It would be great if there were natural ways to deal with her issues and maybe there are ? But honestly , she needs professional help right away . She needs a psychiatrist and a psychologist. Please get her the help she needs .

I was severely depressed and would rage for no reason. Found out that my vitamin D levels were very low. Have hers checked. Most donā€™t know this

This is lavender pills. The only side affect myself or others have noticed has been lavender burps.

There have been studies done with patents taking lavender vs anti anxiety medications with equal results. This one specifically is non- drowsy. If you go to any supplement or natural store, they should carry it. If you canā€™t find it, look for something that has just lavender, and no melatonin.

I was with someone for several years that had severe anxiety and depression and was disabled because of it, and these helped him tremendously. Iā€™ve known several people including myself that these have helped.

Contact the suicide line

Cpd and rekei! 1st step would be finding triggersā€¦everytime I trigger comes up write it down. Over time the triggers will show a pattern of where it all stems from.

Rely on a good adolescent psychiatrist and psychologists. Study psychiatric medications as many can cause suicidal ideation in teens and young adults. Go to AAMFT.ORG for recommendations and DO NOT mix traditional medications and homeopathic ones as terrible drug interactions can occur. It may take time before an effective dosage can be reached as hormones in this age group fluctuate tremendously. The first medication will probably not be the right one, it can take time and sometimes hospitalization is required to titer off and on different meds. Let her know you are not giving up on her no matter what.

St Johns Wort! I used to take a lot of prescriptions but they made me worse and I take this everyday and it has helped soooo much

Iā€™ve shared a lot of messed up and twisted thoughts with my therapist and have never been sent to a psych place for it. She just did med adjustments. Do some research in your area and find an all naturalist person to do readings and healings etc.

Hey Iā€™m majorly depressed I donā€™t believe in all that talking about it bc I am still the person who has to deal with it plz hear me out b4 you say oh she is a wack a do Iā€™m telling the truth. I. Internalize it works I go to the gym listen to music and find things I like to do try and watch my diet try and keep my thoughts positive itā€™s not the best therapy I still have bad days but Iā€™m not spending my on big pharna either plus I made some friends at the gym

Have her get blood work done. My 13 year old daughter had been extremely depressed and her Dr did blood work and found out her vitamin D levels were super low. She recommended Vitamin D drops and 1 a day teen girl vitamins. Sheā€™s now seeing a counselor and Psychiatrist and we are slowly making progress. She as well has panic attacks frequently.

I use cannabis for my anxiety and depression

I take buspirone or buspar for my anxiety for years

CBD oil 100% I used to have crippling anxiety blackout attacks and I got some, gone. Also avoid caffeine, lavender essential oils as a pillow spray help also.

Mental health issue are usually cause by misfiring of neural pathways in the brain or parts of the brain that are just not working correctly. The stigma about psychiatric meds needs to STOP. Would you prevent your daughter from having insulin for diabetes or heart medicine for a heart issue?

Have her assessed by a psychiatrist. Have her start talk therapy (research different types of therapy such as CBT, DBT, EMDR etc) actually try and help your daughters mental health before it gets worse as she ages, which it will.

My mom had me lying at therapy and not allowing me to take meds. I was sick for 32 years before getting healthy w being honest at therapy and starting psychiatric meds, (abilify and lexapro) that correct the misfirings in my brain.

Do right by your daughter.
