Looking for some advice! My daughter turned 3 In July, and up until about 4 months ago she was taking 2 naps a day. She goes to bed at 7 and is up by 7:30-8 ish Am. We has always been a GREAT sleeper. We dropped it down to 1 nap a day and the past 2 or 3 days when I put her down for a nap she just stares at the wall (she also won’t come out of her room by herself she waits until me or her father go over the monitor to say good morning or good afternoon). But if she skips her nap she gets super cranky anf irritable which is already heightened being a sassy 3 year old. Any advice?
Two of mine stopped napping altogether around 18 months old. I think if she’ll lay there, whether she’s sleeping or not, it is still restful time. We just switched to calling it quiet time instead of nap time. Good luck!!
My daughter is 2 1/2 and stopped taking naps a few months ago. Having a rest time is helpful, not sleeping but reading/ looking at books, quite activities, coloring, puzzles, etc… every child is different with naps. Quite time could help curb the afternoon cranky- ness.
Good luck Mama!
Nothing wrong with that she is getting out of the nap stage.
Letting her chill in her bed also isn’t a bad idea even if she doesn’t sleep.
The 2 naps should combine into 1 longer nap. It takes a few weeks to adjust. Try the nap later than the morning one was and earlier than the afternoon so essentially the time in between nap 1 and 2 will be the new nap. If each of the naps were around 2 hours each expect the new nap to be about 3 hours and eventually that will start shortening.
Yeah she’s probly easing out of naps,I always called it ‘rest time’ ,so what if she just lays there, she’s resting, make.sure no distractions,no tv,phone, tablet,I also played soft classical music for our rest music, it works
1 nap is fine if she is going to bed that early. She will adjust to the new schedule. Just give it a few weeks. Also maybe a healthy snack 30 minutes before bed.
Put on some relaxing music or something. Don’t let her get sassy correct that asap. Let her stay in her room that’s free time for you
In all honesty most 3 years olds have dropped all day time naps mostly, the odd day they may nap but just having an undisturbed rest whether it is on their bed or on the sofa. They do however get cranky towards the end of the day, I usually advise parents to bring bed time forward by 30-60 mins if they don’t nap and to have a bit of a boogy together followed by maybe some craft before starting the bed time routine
Let her watch a cute kid show. They always fall a sleep.
1 nap if that at that age. Eventually there will be no naps.
3 year Olds typically only need 10-13 jours of total sleep a day, 7-7:30 is 12.5
My 3 year old doesn’t nap and hasn’t got awhile. When she does nap, it’s out of the ordinary lol
My son is almost 4 and still naps but make sure she’s getting a snack before you put her down. That always seems to be the trick.
