Someone please explain or help me here. My son just turned a month old. I didn’t know I was supposed to be doing “wake windows”. Someone explain. Usually I’d feed him to sleep. Usually also he doesn’t nap in the day much and is constantly overtired, what I think is overtired. Today I tried different and fed him once he woke from a nap( no certain time naps) and then waited at least 45 minutes till I put him down for a nap. He’s used to falling asleep on me feeding so some of the time I’d have to give him my breast for a minute just for comfort for him to fall asleep. He did nap more today. But also what do I do in the night? Am I keeping him up at night feedings for these wake windows? I need help with all of it please I think I’m missing something here.
I’ve never heard of wake windows. Let the baby sleep. But I’m a strong advocate of schedules. For everyone’s sanity
When my daughter was that age, I only woke her up if she went more than 6 hours…and I think that was mostly for my own peace of mind rather than what she actually needed lol.
As long as your newborn is gaining weight and has enough wet diapers every day, there’s no actual need to wake them to eat.
I woke up my kid when I went to the bathroom, if I woke her, changed her, fed her, she slept longer, and so did I. It was usually around 2am
Most doctors say no to waking them up to feed. Is his weight good? Is he gaining well? It’s probably ok to just let him sleep. Best to check with his pediatrician.
Is he healthy and not a premie ? My baby is 3 months old. I stopped waking her for feedings at night about 1 month old and just let her sleep. She woke up when she hungry. She has a good sleep schedule, sleeps most of the night and just naps here and there during the day.
My youngest daughter always slept through the night. When we first came home from hospital I would wake her up to feed. She would get so mad and would fall back asleep and not eat. So I just stopped waking her up. She would wake up when she was hungry.
Correction: a newborn has no schedule. Wake windows are just how long it’s developmentally appropriate before you need to get them to sleep!
I never ever woke a sleeping baby…I have so many friends whom did- their kids now who are older do not sleep during the night.
No let him sleep, my daughter was only 4lb 11oz at birth (she was 2 wks overdue but I got thyroid disease during pregnancy) was supposed to fead her every 3 hrs, which I did for while but she just started sleeping 4 hrs and more during day and at night she would sleep right through to nearly noon next day, I didn’t wake her I just kept checking in her to see that she was ok, she was putting on weight every week and has never looked back. She still loves her sleep she’s 50 now
Mom of 4 breastfed babies and have never woke a sleeping baby…ever.
There are lots of different methods but I’m a mom of 4 and my rule was “never wake a sleeping baby”.
As long as he’s a healthy weight at check ups, I’d let him sleep (and enjoy your sleep too because regression is real!)
My last baby, who will be 3 in May, the Drs told me not to wake him. He would wake when he was ready to eat.
I have a 1 month old as well and was told to wake every 2 hrs. I let him sleep (usually 4 hrs). He will wake when hes hungry. Plus that 4 or so hrs are what helps keep us going.
Some doctors will say yes if they are underweight. Check with your doctor
Currently have my 4th breastfed baby never woke any of them. Bubs is currently sleeping 6 hrs during the nights from about a month old. Enjoy the sleep while you can get lol
As long as baby is growing well and well hydrated, there is no need to wake a sleeping baby
I never woke either of my kids. When they get hungry they will wake up.
Just think about do you want to be wakened up when you are sleeping peacefully. Baby will wake up when they are hungry.
When the baby wakes up feed her then - let the baby sleep!
I’m a mom of 4 and I never woke a sleeping baby.
Only if they’re underweight or premie. Stick to a schedule. call your dr?
Never woke my babies up, figured when they were hungry they would let me know
They will let you know when they are hungry
Absolutely NOT , he will wake up when he is hungry
I got told I shouldn’t be letting mine go for longer than four hours without a feed. Otherwise they can get too sleepy or weak to feed properly. I ended up having to wake them up to feed.
I only did a set time to wake her in the morning. Only because she would want to stay up all night if I didn’t. My doctor once baby was 8lbs no need to wake them if drinking enough milk.
Unless baby’s doctor has said that you need to wake baby for feedings, let baby sleep. If you’re nursing and getting engorged over night, you could wake and pump to maintain supply or try dream feeding if you don’t want to pump. It’s as simple as letting baby stay asleep and trying to get them to latch, they typically will. If you’re bottle feeding, just enjoy the sleep.
Babies will sleep when they’re tired snd eat when they’re hungry. You got this!
Don’t deprive yourself of sleep if your baby is sleeping. If he’s hungry he’ll wake up and let you know.
I never wake a sleeping baby, if they’re that hungry they will wake up.
