I have a root canal scheduled for 2/9 - and after lots and lots of research, I can’t decide if I should do the root canal or just have it pulled. I won’t be able to get a crown for a while … obviously I’ve been told the risks of removing the tooth. But, have also heard risks of root canal
I had mine pulled. No issues
I’ve done both getting the tooth pulled hirts
I was terrified of getting a root canal because of all the horror stories I heard. But I had my first one last year and it wasn’t bad at all. No pain. I’m sure everyone is different depending on what tooth it is
I had a root canal, not too bad at all. The cap fell off a couple years later and the entire tooth under was rotted. That’s the danger with them, you would never know. I got that rotten tooth pulled.
Getting the tooth pulled is way worse. A root canal is like a long cavity being filled. Does not hurt at all and I never got a crown put on mine.
I have to go get one done also I am just gonna pull it …
Root canal is a temp fix. Might go with it until you can afford a crown
I was married to a dentist and he did 3 root canals on me over a few years… he was an excellent dentist and they were no worse than a cavity filling. Getting a crown quite soon though is important, as the tooth is left vulnerable with no root and can wind up cracking. The crown protects. See if office will arrange to let you pay over time for it? And bear in mind, if it’s pulled, it’s gone for good. Thin in the future if others above or near it are lost, chewing becomes very difficult and eating not the pleasure it should be, especially when you get into your older years.
I had my root canal done by an Endodontists and it’s been 4 years now and I have no issues at all with my tooth. You can’t even see I had a root canal done.
If you remove the tooth, you will have to get a crown done to stop your teeth moving (yes teeth are constantly moving regardless of the age you are)
If your dentist knows what they are doing you will be fine otherwise see and Endodontists who actually specialise in doing root canals.
I had two root canals done side by side. The dentist said I didn’t need a crown. He lied BOTH teeth broke and I had to have them pulled anyway. Root canals are expensive and then you have to worry about spending the money on a crown. Getting it pulled is cheaper.
Root canal isn’t pleasant but at least you still have a tooth
You should get a temporary crown until you can get the final one. Compare the cost of pulling the tooth and getting an implant vs. the cost of a root canal and crown. I’m assuming you don’t have dental insurance?
I got a root canal with a crown and wish I hadn’t, it was a huge waste of money and caused a lot of issues. It looked great but it wasn’t done properly, I kept getting abscesses under that tooth after the root canal and I had never had one before. The whole left side of my face would randomly swell up and stay that way for days. After 2ish years of pain, swelling, and abscesses I had that tooth pulled which is what I should’ve done instead of the root canal
Every root canal I have had done had to be pulled.so there’s my recommendation to you!
Try to save your teeth . Get the root canal.
