Should you give a toddler breastmilk?

hi all so i have a 2 year old which basically eats everything. breastfeeding did not go well when he was infant he barely got any. But now i breastveed pretty good with my 3 month old. My husband thinks we should give my 2 year old breastmilk too everyday 2 ounces. He says it’s good for him. But i dont want to do that since he eats good. i save breastmilk up so i can go out sometimes with my toddler and have that milk for backup for my hubby watch my infant. what u all think? :woman_facepalming:t2:have u done that? give breastmilk to ur toddler since he didn’t get any when infant.

Breast milk provides essential antibodies and boosts the immune system, so if you have some to spare, it definitely cannot hurt to share some with your older child. It has many, many uses other than providing calories :slightly_smiling_face: good luck!

Breastmilk is gold. I breastfed my daughter until she was 3 1/2 and she’s also a great eater. I’d mix some breastmilk in with your toddler’s cereal or something like that.

Put some in cereal so it’s not straight? :slightly_smiling_face:

No your toddler is fine. The breast milk is to fill up the baby. He will turn out fine without breastmilk? I breastfed my baby for 1.5 months and gave up, if I have an other baby I sure as hell won’t be giving my daughter breastmilk when she’s 2 , especially not from the boob. Lol (never says in the post) I’m just saying lol

It’s not gonna hurt him at all. Human milk was made for humans anyway not cow milk. I would cook with breast milk once my older son was weaned I’d make cheese noodles with it or put in oatmeal for him.

I’ve heard a lot of people end up using breast milk as a replacement for whole families in recipes like cakes and stuff if they have extra. Some people still give milk to kids up to the age of 5. Completely your choice. Just think that soon it’ll be fall and germs will be sneaking around more

It would be good for him but its not going to hurt him if you don’t.

In my opinion by 2 there isnt any health reason for it other than bonding. My ob said that after they start solid food there really isnt health benefits. I only breastfed the first week for the colustrum

Human Breast milk was made for human babies/kids. It won’t hurt anything and can possibly help boost his immune system. I say go for it if you have extra!

I wouldn’t he’s already on whole milk :person_shrugging:so why flip him again

Toddler is fine. The milk u have now is for the new baby. The 2 year old eats actual food rich in nutrients…he doesnt need the breast milk.
